What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in West Sherburne
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in West Sherburne, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in West Sherburne.
How does a metal roof handle West Sherburne's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, which can trap moisture and accelerate deterioration during the region's roughly 80 freeze-thaw days per year. The four-way interlocking panels remain dimensionally stable through repeated freezing and thawing—aluminum expands and contracts minimally compared to wood or composition materials. With about 86 cm of annual snowfall and gusty conditions reaching 95 km/h, the lightweight design (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) prevents ice-dam formation caused by heavy snow load, and the interlocked seams resist wind-driven precipitation. You won't experience the curling, cracking, or moisture entrapment that shortens asphalt shingle life in climates like this.
Can aluminum roofing rust in Minnesota's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes in steel products. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, making it naturally corrosion-resistant even in wet environments. West Sherburne receives about 573 mm of annual rainfall plus 86 cm of snow, conditions that would accelerate rust in ferrous metals; aluminum actually thrives here. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (30-year warranty against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214) adds a second protective barrier. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations—the material's chemistry, not just surface treatment, defeats corrosion.
Will my metal roof crack or fail during Minnesota's freeze-thaw winters?
No. Aluminum's crystalline structure and the four-way interlocking panel design allow the roof to expand and contract uniformly through freeze-thaw cycling without cracking, splitting, or loss of integrity. West Sherburne experiences roughly 80 freeze-thaw days annually, with mean temperatures around 7.1°C—conditions that cause asphalt to become brittle, wood to split, and concrete tile to fracture. Aluminum roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered for this thermal stress. The interlocking seams accommodate movement without compromising weather-tightness, and the material's fatigue resistance is documented in field installations spanning 25+ years in similar climates. Your roof's structural integrity strengthens with age rather than degrading.
Does metal roofing protect against hail damage in Minnesota?
Yes—Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating (the highest available) and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 testing involves dropping steel balls from 20 feet, replicating severe hail that would dent, crack, or perforate lesser materials. Many homeowners with Interlock roofs have qualified for insurance premium discounts because the material's proven impact resistance reduces claim risk. The Guardian warranty's non-prorated coverage for impact loss provides additional security. While West Sherburne's hail frequency is not extreme relative to the Great Plains, the Class 4 rating means you are covered completely if a storm does strike—asphalt shingles typically require replacement after Class 3 or 4 hail events.
Can metal roofing withstand Minnesota wind gusts?
The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. West Sherburne's typical daily-maximum winds average about 21 km/h with gusts reaching 95 km/h, well within the roof's rated capacity. The interlocking seam design distributes wind uplift forces across all four sides of each panel, preventing the edge-lifting and blow-off failures common with asphalt shingles in gusty conditions. Once installed, the panels cannot be individually lifted by wind because neighboring panels lock them in place. This redundant fastening system, combined with the material's inherent rigidity, means your roof performs reliably through seasonal storms without degradation or loose edges that compromise weather protection.
Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is required. The Interlock Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft and the Mediterranean Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, allowing installation over most existing roof structures without adding load. West Sherburne homeowners often replace heavy asphalt or aging wood-shake roofs with Interlock metal and eliminate the need for costly framing upgrades that would otherwise be necessary. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms installation compatibility with standard residential framing. The lightweight design also means you can install a metal roof over your existing roof in many cases, avoiding a tear-off and the associated cost and landfill impact. Your home's structure simply carries less load while gaining superior durability.
What is the warranty on an Interlock metal roof?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning there is no coverage cap based on time or roof age. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If a warranted defect occurs 5 years in or 40 years in, the coverage is the same. The warranty is transferable once: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion, giving buyers an incentive to purchase your home. This transferable term is rare in roofing and reflects Interlock's confidence in the product's 25+ year track record. With manufacturing since 1998 and installations across diverse climates from coastal to polar regions, the warranty backs proven longevity, not marketing claims.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?
Aluminum roofing requires virtually no maintenance beyond occasional gutter cleaning. Asphalt shingles deteriorate through UV exposure and thermal cycling, requiring re-sealing or replacement every 15-20 years; wood shake splits, curls, and rots, needing annual treatment and frequent repairs; concrete tile cracks in freeze-thaw cycles (West Sherburne experiences about 80 annually) and grows algae, requiring power-washing and regrouting. Interlock aluminum is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance because the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty) resists fading and chalking, the self-healing oxide layer prevents corrosion, and the smooth surface sheds debris without trapping moisture. Over a 50-year period, the time and money you avoid spending on maintenance repairs, treatments, and replacements is substantial—aluminum eliminates the recurring expense cycle that shortens the economic life of traditional materials.
Can an energy-efficiency metal roof help cool my home in summer?
Yes. energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing cooling costs and heat absorption into living spaces. The material's thermal emissivity is 0.84 (rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council), meaning it re-radiates absorbed heat efficiently instead of storing it. Initial solar reflectance reaches up to 0.55 in colors like Aged Copper Penny, whereas asphalt shingles typically absorb 0.85+ of incident solar radiation. While West Sherburne's climate is temperate (about 3,191 sunshine hours annually and a mean of 7.1°C), the cooling benefit compounds over summer months and offsets heating costs in spring and fall when solar gain is desirable. Combined with the roof's durability, the energy performance means lower utility bills over decades—another financial advantage compared to materials that require replacement every 15-20 years and offer no reflectance benefit.
