From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lisbon

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lisbon, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lisbon.

How does a metal roof handle Lisbon's heavy snow load and ice dams?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface doesn't trap moisture the way porous shingles do. With about 92 cm of snow annually and 81 freeze-thaw cycles per year, Lisbon homes face real ice-dam risk. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance, which means the panels stay locked tight even when snow loads shift and settle. The lightweight design (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) also means less structural stress during heavy snow events, and snow guards can be added to control roof-slide safely.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Minnesota damage an aluminum roof?

No—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw climates. Unlike materials that absorb water and crack when it freezes, aluminum is non-porous and has zero iron content, so it cannot rust or rot no matter how many times it cycles between freezing and thawing. Lisbon averages 81 freeze-thaw days yearly, yet the Alunar 70% PVDF coating bonds to both sides of every panel and is warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading, even through repeated temperature swings. The oxide layer that forms on aluminum actually self-heals when scratched, making it more resilient than steel roofing.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Minnesota's wet, freezing climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that protects the metal beneath. When that layer is scratched or damaged, it self-heals by forming a new protective layer, a process that repeats indefinitely. In Lisbon, where 645 mm of rain falls annually and temperatures fluctuate across 81 freeze-thaw days, this is critical: steel roofing oxidizes under these exact conditions, but aluminum simply doesn't. The Alunar finish is applied to both sides of every panel for added durability, especially important in corrosive environments. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations since 1998.

Are metal roof panels secure in strong Minnesota wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, creating a unified system that resists wind uplift far more effectively than shingles. The roof is warranted to withstand winds up to 120 mph, and Lisbon's typical gusts reach about 93 km/h—well within that rating. The interlocking mechanism is the key: when wind pressure increases, the tighter the panels pull together. This mechanical advantage is why the ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) approves the system for extreme wind zones. No special fasteners or adhesives are needed beyond standard installation protocols.

What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and can it help with insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries the highest hail rating available—UL 2218 Class 4 impact—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That means your roof is covered even in the worst hail events. Many insurance companies recognize this durability and offer premium discounts for Class 4-rated roofs because claims are statistically much lower. With about 3,250 sunshine hours annually in Lisbon, hail is less frequent than in some regions, but when it does occur, the rating proves valuable—both for protection and for conversations with your insurance agent about potential savings.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure before installing an Interlock metal roof?

Almost never. Interlock panels are extraordinarily light—the Cedar Shingle profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile, despite its authentic appearance, is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means the roof can install directly over most existing roofing without structural reinforcement. Lisbon homes built for asphalt shingles are designed to handle that load; a metal roof actually reduces stress on rafters and trusses. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is still light enough that a structural engineer rarely recommends upgrades. This lightweight advantage also simplifies installation and reduces labor costs.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors with high solar reflectance can measurably reduce cooling costs by bouncing sunlight away rather than absorbing it like asphalt. Aged Copper Penny, for example, has initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning it reflects heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. In Lisbon, with about 3,250 sunshine hours annually, every reflective point matters during summer months. Cooling savings vary by color choice and local utility rates, but energy-efficiency certification confirms real performance. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating provides transparent, third-party verification of these reflective properties.

What's the actual lifespan of Interlock metal roofing, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—defects that plague traditional roofing. The next owner receives a one-time 50-year transferable warranty from completion, which is a genuine resale advantage. When installed properly in Lisbon's climate of 92 cm snow, 81 freeze-thaw cycles, and 645 mm rain annually, the roof outlasts asphalt by decades. Combined with the Alunar coating's 30-year fade and chalk warranty, this is essentially the last roof many homeowners will buy.

How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood?

Minimal. Metal requires no sealing, no patching, no moss treatment. Unlike asphalt shingles that degrade and curl, or cedar shake that splits and rots—especially in Lisbon's 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles—metal stays dimensionally stable. Occasional gutter cleaning and debris removal are typical for any roof, but the Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists weathering so well it's warranted for 30 years against fading and chalking. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden compared to traditional materials. The non-porous aluminum surface sheds dirt and algae naturally with rain. Over a 50-year lifespan, this translates to lower labor costs and zero emergency repairs from weather-related deterioration.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and breaks the traditional asphalt cycle: tear off old shingles, haul them to landfill, install new ones, repeat in 20 years. Metal roofing eliminates that waste stream entirely. Even at end-of-life—which is decades away given the lifetime warranty—the aluminum retains significant scrap value and recycles into new products. In Lisbon, where 645 mm of rain falls yearly, durability directly translates to environmental impact: a roof that lasts 50+ years instead of 20 generates far less waste per year of service. The non-porous aluminum also prevents the runoff issues that degrade local water quality, and the lightweight design means less material consumed per square foot than slate, tile, or concrete alternatives.
