| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |

| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |

What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Mora Junction
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Mora Junction, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Mora Junction.
How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice in Minnesota winters?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently without accumulation that stresses the structure. Mora Junction receives about 107 cm of snow annually, and the smooth, hard surface prevents the bonding that creates dangerous ice dams on asphalt. The panels weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft—so light that your existing structure needs no reinforcement—yet they're engineered to handle snow loads per ICC-ES ESR-1790. Add optional snow guards if you prefer controlled shedding, and you've eliminated the annual ice dam worry that costs homeowners thousands in water damage and gutter replacement.
Will an aluminum roof crack or deteriorate from Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum expands and contracts but does not crack, split, or rot—properties that matter enormously in Mora Junction's roughly 74 freeze-thaw days per year. Unlike wood shakes, which splinter, or asphalt, which becomes brittle, roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum flexes safely through temperature swings. The material's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so winter salt spray and thermal stress don't initiate corrosion. The Guardian warranty covers cracking and splitting for the original owner's lifetime, then transfers 50 years to the next—a guarantee asphalt and wood cannot match in this climate.
Can aluminum roofing rust or corrode in Minnesota's wet, snowy climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a protective oxide layer that self-repairs when scratched—a decisive advantage in regions with 650 mm of annual rainfall and winter salt exposure. Interlock panels are finished with Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214/D2244. This dual-sided protection is especially important in moisture-rich climates; steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant rust vigilance. After 25 years in Mora Junction's conditions, an aluminum roof still looks new while asphalt has failed and steel shows rust stains.
Can a metal roof withstand Minnesota wind gusts and storms?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—far exceeding Mora Junction's typical gusts of about 108 km/h recorded in the region. The four-way interlock means each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides, distributing wind force across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. The system is tested and rated under UL 2218 Class 4 impact standards. In a climate where wind speeds occasionally spike and spring storms bring powerful gusts, the interlocking design keeps the roof intact when others fail. No seasonal anxiety about fasteners loosening or panels lifting.
How well does a metal roof stand up to hail, and will it lower my insurance?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts on comprehensive coverage. Unlike asphalt, which cracks and requires replacement after hail damage, or wood shake, which splits, aluminum panels absorb impact without denting or failing. Mora Junction's climate includes severe thunderstorms; a Class 4 roof eliminates the deductible hit and claim hassle that repeated hail events cause with conventional roofing. Many insurers recognize metal's impact resistance and adjust premiums accordingly—ask your agent about quotes after installation.
Can a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorbing it. The Aged Copper Penny finish has initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, measured by the Cool Roof Rating Council—properties that keep the roof surface cooler than asphalt on Mora Junction's ~3,123 sunny hours per year. While Minnesota winters dominate, spring and fall cooling costs add up; reflective coatings reduce the load your air conditioning carries on warm days. Paired with the roof's longevity (no tear-off-and-replace every 20 years), the energy efficiency compounds over decades, saving thousands in total operating costs compared to conventional roofing that absorbs and radiates heat.
Can I install a metal roof over my existing roof without reinforcing the structure?
Yes. Interlock panels are extraordinarily light—the Shingle installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58, and Mediterranean Tile at 0.59—making them about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means no structural reinforcement is needed. You can install Interlock directly over most existing asphalt or wood roofs, eliminating the costly tear-off and disposal cycle that adds thousands to a conventional replacement. In Mora Junction's 107 cm annual snowfall, your framing handles the load effortlessly; the lightweight panels actually reduce stress during heavy snow events. This retrofit capability saves time, money, and landfill burden—making the upgrade accessible to more homeowners.
How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood?
Aluminum requires almost no maintenance. Unlike asphalt, which deteriorates in UV and heat, or wood shake, which needs regular sealing and re-staining, Interlock's Alunar® fluorocarbon finish is rated CALGreen for reduced maintenance. Occasional gutter cleaning and debris removal suffice. The material does not rot, crack, split, or curl—eliminating the costly repairs asphalt demands every 10–15 years in Mora Junction's harsh 74 freeze-thaw days and 650 mm annual rainfall. No algae grows on aluminum, no missing shingles to replace after wind, no leaks from ice dam damage. The Guardian lifetime warranty covers performance, so you're protected from unexpected repair costs that plague conventional roofing across its 20–30 year lifecycle.
What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?
Interlock roofs are designed to last 50+ years or longer. The Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, protecting your home's next occupant. In Mora Junction's 107 cm snow, 650 mm rain, and frequent freeze-thaw stress, this durability is tangible: while conventional roofs fail after 15–25 years and require multiple replacements, Interlock often outlasts the homeowner. The 30-year coating warranty on the Alunar® finish means your roof looks new decades in. It's literally the last roof you'll buy—a single long-term investment that beats repeated tear-offs.
Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Mora Junction, and how long do they take?

The team brings over two decades of local expertise in Minnesota's challenging climate—snow load, ice damming, wind gusts, and freeze-thaw cycles.
