Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in North Branch Junction

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in North Branch Junction, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in North Branch Junction.

How does a metal roof handle North Branch Junction's snow load and ice dams?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow reliably because the smooth surface and steep pitch don't trap moisture the way asphalt does. With about 92 cm of snow annually and roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year, that cycling creates ice-dam risk on traditional roofs; aluminum's non-corrosive oxide layer won't degrade from repeated freeze-thaw stress like asphalt or steel would. Snow guards are available if you want to control drift. The light weight—the Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft—means no structural reinforcement, so the panels mount directly over your existing roof without added load.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Minnesota damage an aluminum metal roof?

No. Aluminum roofing is engineered to handle exactly this environment. The 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy meets ASTM B209 and resists the expansion-contraction stress that cracks asphalt and splits wood shakes over 83 freeze-thaw days per year. The oxide layer that forms on aluminum self-heals when scratched—it won't rust or corrode, even after decades of temperature swings between winter lows and the roughly 3113 sunshine hours annually. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty confirms durability through that stress cycle.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing, and does that matter here?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—period. It forms an invisible oxide layer that's self-repairing; if a hailstone or branch scratches it, the oxide re-forms automatically. Steel roofing rusts because iron oxidizes when exposed to moisture, which North Branch Junction gets plenty of: about 778 mm of rain yearly. Even in coastal environments where salt accelerates corrosion, Interlock panels have performed reliably since 1998 because the Alunar coating is applied to both sides for extra protection. After 25 years in the field, aluminum roofs show no rust; steel roofs require ongoing maintenance to avoid rust-through.

Can a metal roof survive Minnesota wind and ice-storm gusts?

Yes. The four-way interlocking design is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed per spec—well above the typical gusts your region experiences (around 100 km/h or 62 mph in severe weather). The panels lock together on all four edges, so wind pressure doesn't lift individual panels. With about 83 freeze-thaw days annually creating ice-load stress that compounds wind risk, that interlocking system keeps each panel anchored while aluminum's lightweight (the Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) prevents the structural strain that heavier materials create. The ESR-1790 evaluation confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind requirements.

Does an aluminum metal roof hold up in hail, and can it lower insurance costs?

Interlock's aluminum panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That rating means your insurer sees documented impact durability. Aluminum's non-combustible nature (Class A fire classification available) may also qualify you for premium reductions; contact your agent with the ESR-1790 evaluation report. Given that North Branch Junction experiences 92 cm of snow and wind gusts to 100 km/h annually, the combination of impact resistance and structural integrity often interests insurers. Compare this to asphalt shingles, which require replacement after major hail events.

Do I need to reinforce my roof frame for a metal roof, or can it install over my existing shingles?

No reinforcement needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so your existing frame supports it without modification. You can install directly over asphalt shingles, which eliminates the cost and waste of a tear-off. Older homes with lighter framing often benefit most because they avoid the $2,000–$4,000 structural upgrades that real tile or slate demand. With about 92 cm of snow annually and 83 freeze-thaw cycles stressing your roof annually, the lightweight design also reduces structural stress from accumulated weight and temperature expansion.

What's the actual warranty on an aluminum metal roof, and does it transfer to the next owner?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion. That means if you sell your North Branch Junction home in year 10, the buyer receives 40 years of warranty protection. Few roofing products offer that. Combined with the 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking and fading (measured per ASTM D4214 and D2244), you're protected through the freeze-thaw cycles, 778 mm of annual rainfall, and UV exposure from roughly 3113 sunshine hours per year.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof really need compared to asphalt or tile?

Virtually none. Asphalt shingles crack from freeze-thaw stress (North Branch Junction sees 83 such cycles annually) and curl from UV exposure over 3113 sunshine hours per year. Wood shakes split and rot with 778 mm of annual rainfall. Tile breaks under hail and high winds. Aluminum doesn't crack, rot, split, or rust—the CALGreen-verified design is rated for reduced maintenance. You may occasionally clear gutters or remove debris, but you won't repaint, reseal, replace broken shingles, or treat for mold. The Alunar coating is permanent. Over a 50-year lifespan, asphalt requires multiple replacement cycles; aluminum typically requires none.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in North Branch Junction, and how long have they been doing this?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served the North Branch Junction area and surrounding Isanti County region since 2001—over two decades of local installation experience. The company manufactures panels in Delta, BC, and maintains ISO-certified installation standards across the continent, from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. Local installers understand regional snow loads, freeze-thaw cycles, and wind patterns specific to your area. When you call a local crew with 20+ years in Minnesota, you're working with people who've seen how these panels perform through the typical 92 cm snowfall, 83 freeze-thaw days, and 100 km/h gusts your region experiences.

Is an aluminum metal roof worth the upfront cost versus asphalt, over the life of the roof?

Yes, when you calculate the full lifespan. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years and requires tear-off disposal (adding $1,000–$2,000 to landfill waste) before you reinstall. A second asphalt roof costs another $8,000–$12,000. Aluminum costs more upfront but lasts 50+ years with the lifetime limited warranty, transferable to your home's next owner for 50 years—essentially two generations. You buy it once. You also avoid tear-off costs (install over existing shingles), ongoing maintenance on wood or tile, repairs from freeze-thaw damage, and the environmental cost of asphalt re-roofing every 15–20 years. The Guardian Warranty's non-prorated coverage means year 30 costs nothing extra in material warranty.
