Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Center Strafford, New Hampshire
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
I was not thrilled with how pushy the salesperson was. I can not say enough about how good the installation crew was.
High quality workmanship. Notify us of changes before the installation. Specifically installed box vents instead of the agreed upon ridge vent.
My two prior asphalt shingle roofs curled, cracked, grew moss, had black streaks, and generally looked terrible in 10-15 years each. I was so done with asphalt roofs, that this time around I researched for months to find a better alternative.I knew that metal was the way to go but I didn't want it to look like a barn roof. I considered stone coated steel shingles, but they have a rough surface for moss to grow, and after the expense looks like an ordinary cheap asphalt roof. When I discovered Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, I knew I had found the perfect solution. I chose the "black slate" style which looks just like a real slate roof!!! I now have the most beautiful roof in the neighborhood, and it's warrantied for 50 years. The installers worked very hard and efficiently to finish my roof in just 3-1/2 days. The sales and customer service reps were very responsive to my many questions and concerns. I am a very satisfied customer and I have no regrets at all. Positive: Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value Services: Attic venting, Roof installation
They did everything to my satisfaction. no
We just had a flash-hail storm the other day. It tested our roof, and it did very, very well. The hail was almost golf ball sized, and it lasted for about five minutes. We didn’t hear the rain, but boy did we hear that hail. It sounded like machine guns going off against the walls and roof. I haven’t seen hail like that since I left Texas. There were no dents in the roof, and there were no blemishes. It held up beautifully.
I recommend the material but am not all that wild about the crew. I think there could have been more of an effort to keep to the agreed upon time.
I think communication during the project was terrible- a lot of miscommunication. We were told one thing and the complete opposite happened. I think all employees need to be on the same page and the person relating the message to the customer should know exactly what is going on. It does not make me confident in the company when this was happening to me. While overall I am happy with the product- and am not thrilled with the customer service.
The people were very courteous and the product is great. the people there were very professional and polite. We were happy with everything.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Center Strafford
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Center Strafford, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Center Strafford.
How does a metal roof handle Center Strafford's heavy snow load?
Interlock metal roofing handles snow efficiently because it's extraordinarily light—the Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—so it adds minimal structural burden despite Center Strafford receiving about 152 cm of snow annually. The smooth, low-friction aluminum surface sheds snow and ice naturally, and optional snow guards can be installed to manage slides on steeper pitches. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle in the region's approximately 90 freeze-thaw cycles per year, aluminum's oxide layer remains flexible and won't crack as snow expands and contracts.
Why does freeze-thaw cycling threaten some roofing materials but not aluminum?
Freeze-thaw damage occurs when water enters material pores, freezes, expands, and causes cracking—a cycle Center Strafford experiences roughly 90 times per year. Aluminum cannot absorb water and has no pores, so ice formation within the material is impossible. The 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloy used in Interlock panels retains its structural integrity through unlimited freeze-thaw repetition. Over 152 cm of annual snowfall and mean temperatures near 9.4°C, this material science advantage directly extends your roof's working life beyond asphalt or composite alternatives.
Can a metal roof made of aluminum actually rust in New Hampshire's wet climate?
No. Interlock panels are made from aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which contains no iron and cannot rust. When aluminum is scratched, its oxide layer self-heals automatically, forming a new protective barrier. This is especially valuable in climates with heavy precipitation—Center Strafford receives about 978 mm of rain annually—where moisture exposure is continuous. Even in regions with coastal salt air, Interlock panels have been installed successfully since 1998; the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides adds another 30-year warranted layer against chalking, so corrosion is simply not a long-term risk here.
Will an aluminum metal roof hold up in Center Strafford's wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Center Strafford's typical daily-maximum winds average about 17 km/h with gusts reaching 108 km/h—well within the roof's rated capacity. The interlocking design distributes wind load across multiple panels rather than relying on fasteners alone, which means each panel reinforces its neighbors. This engineering approach is verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (the 2025 reissue), confirming the system meets current building code wind requirements for your region.
Does an aluminum metal roof protect against hail, and could it lower my insurance premiums?
Interlock metal roofing holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and is even warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof resists damage that typically triggers claims. Many insurers recognize metal roofing's durability and may offer rate reductions; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification to discuss eligibility. Center Strafford's climate, with about 3074 sunshine hours annually and moderate storm exposure, makes this impact resistance a practical long-term safeguard.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing costs more initially but functions as your last roof purchase. Asphalt typically needs replacement every 15-20 years; Interlock's Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner and remains transferable for 50 years from completion. Over 40-50 years—accounting for Center Strafford's ~978 mm annual rainfall and 152 cm snow creating wear—you avoid multiple tear-off and disposal cycles, labor costs, and the environmental impact of landfilling asphalt. The current regional promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making the transition financially accessible now.
Does an aluminum metal roof require expensive structural reinforcement?
No reinforcement is necessary. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile and installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—so light it can go over most existing roofs without structural upgrades. This matters in Center Strafford, where winter snow loads of about 152 cm per year put stress on older homes; using a lighter roofing material means your home's framing carries less total burden. Interlock's aluminum panels are ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliant, confirming they meet building code requirements without engineering modifications, and installation can often proceed directly over your current roof, reducing labor time and cost.
How does a metal roof keep water out in areas that receive nearly 1000 mm of annual rainfall?
Center Strafford's approximately 978 mm of annual rainfall demands superior water shedding, which four-way interlocking aluminum panels deliver by design. The overlapping panel geometry creates a continuous shingle-like barrier where water runs off rather than pooling; no fastener penetrations expose the seams, and the solid deck beneath plus underlayment (installed per code) prevent leaks even in heavy downpours. The smooth aluminum surface doesn't absorb or retain moisture, so water drains quickly. Combined with proper gutter and flashing installation by local experts at Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., this system has proven leak-proof across thousands of installations since 1998.
How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof actually require?
Interlock metal roofing requires virtually none beyond occasional gutter cleaning. Unlike asphalt, which deteriorates under UV exposure and needs periodic inspection for curling and granule loss, or wood shake, which demands annual treatment against rot, aluminum panels have no organic material to degrade. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, measured by ASTM standards, and the underlying aluminum cannot rust, rot, or split. In Center Strafford's climate—with about 90 freeze-thaw cycles yearly and roughly 3074 sunshine hours—metal's passive durability means you pay once and enjoy decades of worry-free performance.
Is an aluminum metal roof a non-combustible option for fire safety?
Yes. Interlock aluminum panels are non-combustible and available with Class A fire classification, the highest rating available. Aluminum cannot burn, and the design meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 requirements for fire safety under the International Building Code and IRC. This is especially valuable in New Hampshire, where heavy winter snow and precipitation create forest fire conditions during dry seasons; a non-combustible roof reduces your home's overall fire risk. The Guardian Warranty covers the system's integrity, so fire-rated protection remains in effect across your home's life, offering both peace of mind and potential insurance recognition.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Center Strafford’s climate?
Yes. Center Strafford averages about 152 cm of snow, 978 mm of rain, roughly 90 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 108 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
