Review: June 17, 2021 Completion: March 12, 2020

Somersworth NH install. Great group of workers. They had the foreman check all work after. They are easy to contact, the price was ok, it's not asphalt, and you get what you pay for. Don't expect a price like an asphalt roof. I liked heavy gauge aluminum over those coated steel roofs. They can rust over time. Aluminum does not rust. I had it for over 1 year, with no issues, no leaks, snow falls good, and no more ice dam on my low slope roof. I even climbed up there to seal a few hairline cracks in my chimney mortar. Nice and durable. It's worth it in the long run. The only thing I would recommend is please attach the siding near eaves security. Because as they insert flashing, they may need to pull out a few areas and nail them back. Just pay attention. There was one little loose area that was nailed in on my siding but needed to be locked in from the bottom. Overall great company, I do; the roof was secure, no loose shingles or flops. I highly recommend this company. I think the two areas near the eave of siding were done ok; they just needed the final touch. And it wasn't even roof related. And the small siding area lasted a year till I had a heavy windstorm. I replaced that small area, and since ok. Just to be clear, my siding is older; it locks in differently. Don't get the impression that they leave things floppy. Just have them check and pull on and areas they removed siding at the end. Service: Roof installation

Review: October 10, 2023 Completion: September 6, 2023

My two prior asphalt shingle roofs curled, cracked, grew moss, had black streaks, and generally looked terrible in 10-15 years each. I was so done with asphalt roofs, that this time around I researched for months to find a better alternative.I knew that metal was the way to go but I didn't want it to look like a barn roof. I considered stone coated steel shingles, but they have a rough surface for moss to grow, and after the expense looks like an ordinary cheap asphalt roof. When I discovered Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, I knew I had found the perfect solution. I chose the "black slate" style which looks just like a real slate roof!!! I now have the most beautiful roof in the neighborhood, and it's warrantied for 50 years. The installers worked very hard and efficiently to finish my roof in just 3-1/2 days. The sales and customer service reps were very responsive to my many questions and concerns. I am a very satisfied customer and I have no regrets at all. Positive: Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value Services: Attic venting, Roof installation

Review: June 4, 2015 Completion: June 29, 2015

We just had a flash-hail storm the other day. It tested our roof, and it did very, very well. The hail was almost golf ball sized, and it lasted for about five minutes. We didn’t hear the rain, but boy did we hear that hail. It sounded like machine guns going off against the walls and roof. I haven’t seen hail like that since I left Texas. There were no dents in the roof, and there were no blemishes. It held up beautifully.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Garrison City

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Garrison City, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Garrison City.

How does a metal roof handle the 116 cm of snow Garrison City gets every winter?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface won't hold moisture the way shingles do, and freeze-thaw cycles won't degrade it. Garrison City averages about 93 freeze-thaw days per year—that constant swelling and shrinking eventually splits asphalt shingles and rots wood. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay intact through every cycle because aluminum oxide naturally heals micro-cracks and cannot rust or rot. You can add snow guards to any profile if you prefer controlled shedding.

Will freeze-thaw damage hurt my metal roof over time?

No—that's actually where aluminum outperforms every other roofing material in your climate. With roughly 93 freeze-thaw cycles annually in Garrison City, asphalt shingles curl and split, wood shakes rot, and even slate can spall. Interlock panels are 3105-H24 or 3003-H24 aluminum alloy, which expands and contracts elastically without permanent deformation and cannot absorb water into its structure. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against fading) is also freeze-thaw stable, so the roof just gets stronger relative to your other options across 1000+ such cycles.

Why don't Interlock metal roofs rust like steel roofing does?

Interlock uses pure aluminum alloy, which contains no iron—the element that rusts. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer the moment it's exposed to air. When scratched or damaged during installation or weather, that oxide regrows automatically. Strafford County receives about 1025 mm of rain yearly, meaning plenty of moisture, but aluminum won't corrode from it. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both panel sides adds another 30-year-warranted barrier, which is especially critical in high-moisture New England climates where steel roofs fail in 15-25 years.

Can Interlock stand up to the wind gusts that hit Garrison City?

Yes—Garrison City's typical wind gusts reach about 104 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. The four-way interlocking design creates a unified, rigid diaphragm that prevents uplift and panel separation during severe weather. Even at local wind extremes, the panels lock together so tightly that they act as a single structural unit rather than individual shingles that can lift and peel. This design also means no nails walking out over time, which is a common failure mode on traditional roofs.

What hail protection does an Interlock metal roof offer?

Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty explicitly covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That combination often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because metal roofs have such a strong track record in hail events. The aluminum alloy itself is simply harder and more resilient than asphalt, wood, or slate, so even a direct hit is unlikely to cause the kind of damage that requires a claim. Check with your insurer; many will reduce your premium if you install a Class 4-rated roof.

Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, which mimics heavy traditional tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. The Slate installs at about 0.41 lb/sq ft and Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft, so even a worst-case scenario is lighter than asphalt shingles plus all the water they absorb. This extreme lightness means you can typically install Interlock directly over your existing roof, eliminating the cost and waste of tear-off, and your home's framing carries the load with zero upgrades.

How well does a metal roof handle Garrison City's 1025 mm of annual rainfall?

Interlock panels overlap and interlock on four sides, creating a labyrinth that sheds water faster than it can penetrate. Each Garrison City rainfall—averaging 1025 mm annually—runs off immediately because there's no place for water to pool or wick back under the panel edges. The interlocking geometry and solid metal surface mean no granule loss or deterioration that opens leak paths, and the underlayment and solid deck work together to trap any water that somehow makes it through. Once installed per ESR-1790 guidelines, the system is essentially self-sealing against the rainfall rates your region experiences.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to replacing asphalt every 20 years?

Yes, when you calculate the true lifetime cost. Asphalt lasts 15-25 years and then you tear it off and buy another roof; metal roofing installed today will outlast multiple asphalt cycles and transfers to the next owner with a 50-year warranty term. The Guardian Warranty is non-prorated for the original owner, meaning you're covered for the full lifespan with no depreciation clauses. Current financing offers—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off—erase the affordability gap. Over 50+ years, one metal roof costs significantly less than three asphalt tear-offs and all their associated labor, debris removal, and disruption.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Far less than asphalt, wood, or tile. Metal panels don't degrade, granulate, split, or rot, so you won't spend money on regular repairs that other materials demand. Garrison City's ~3057 annual sunshine hours and regular rain mean you might wash the roof every few years if debris accumulates, but that's optional cosmetic maintenance, not structural necessity. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, resisting chalking and fading for 30 years (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested). Asphalt shingles, by contrast, require routine inspections for curling, algae, granule loss, and moss—all of which are absent with metal.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Garrison City, and how long have they been around?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. serves the region and has been installing metal roofing in New England since 1999—over 25 years of experience with local climate and building conditions. They understand Strafford County's 93 annual freeze-thaw cycles, the snow load patterns, and the salt-air moisture that comes with proximity to the Atlantic. Because they've installed Interlock systems from coastal homes to extreme environments, they know exactly how to seal, flash, and ventilate your roof to last. You're not working with a traveling crew; you're working with installers who live and work in your region and stand behind their work.
