Review: June 17, 2021 Completion: March 12, 2020

Somersworth NH install. Great group of workers. They had the foreman check all work after. They are easy to contact, the price was ok, it's not asphalt, and you get what you pay for. Don't expect a price like an asphalt roof. I liked heavy gauge aluminum over those coated steel roofs. They can rust over time. Aluminum does not rust. I had it for over 1 year, with no issues, no leaks, snow falls good, and no more ice dam on my low slope roof. I even climbed up there to seal a few hairline cracks in my chimney mortar. Nice and durable. It's worth it in the long run. The only thing I would recommend is please attach the siding near eaves security. Because as they insert flashing, they may need to pull out a few areas and nail them back. Just pay attention. There was one little loose area that was nailed in on my siding but needed to be locked in from the bottom. Overall great company, I do; the roof was secure, no loose shingles or flops. I highly recommend this company. I think the two areas near the eave of siding were done ok; they just needed the final touch. And it wasn't even roof related. And the small siding area lasted a year till I had a heavy windstorm. I replaced that small area, and since ok. Just to be clear, my siding is older; it locks in differently. Don't get the impression that they leave things floppy. Just have them check and pull on and areas they removed siding at the end. Service: Roof installation

Review: October 10, 2023 Completion: September 6, 2023

My two prior asphalt shingle roofs curled, cracked, grew moss, had black streaks, and generally looked terrible in 10-15 years each. I was so done with asphalt roofs, that this time around I researched for months to find a better alternative.I knew that metal was the way to go but I didn't want it to look like a barn roof. I considered stone coated steel shingles, but they have a rough surface for moss to grow, and after the expense looks like an ordinary cheap asphalt roof. When I discovered Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, I knew I had found the perfect solution. I chose the "black slate" style which looks just like a real slate roof!!! I now have the most beautiful roof in the neighborhood, and it's warrantied for 50 years. The installers worked very hard and efficiently to finish my roof in just 3-1/2 days. The sales and customer service reps were very responsive to my many questions and concerns. I am a very satisfied customer and I have no regrets at all. Positive: Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value Services: Attic venting, Roof installation

Review: June 4, 2015 Completion: June 29, 2015

We just had a flash-hail storm the other day. It tested our roof, and it did very, very well. The hail was almost golf ball sized, and it lasted for about five minutes. We didn’t hear the rain, but boy did we hear that hail. It sounded like machine guns going off against the walls and roof. I haven’t seen hail like that since I left Texas. There were no dents in the roof, and there were no blemishes. It held up beautifully.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Wentworth Terrace

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Wentworth Terrace, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Wentworth Terrace.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow loads in Wentworth Terrace?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow safely without the ice-dam problems that plague asphalt in freeze-thaw climates. With about 116 cm of snow falling annually and roughly 93 freeze-thaw cycles per year, your roof needs material that won't absorb moisture or degrade under repeated freezing. Aluminum's non-absorbent surface and low coefficient of friction encourage natural shedding. Optional snow guards are available for areas where controlled release matters. The panels weigh just 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft—light enough that snow load never stresses your structure.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof?

Aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it doesn't absorb water. Your region experiences around 93 freeze-thaw days yearly, where moisture penetrates asphalt and wood, expanding as it freezes and cracking the material from inside. Aluminum's oxide layer remains impervious; water doesn't penetrate, so expansion cycles can't damage the core. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both panel sides (warranted 30 years against degradation) resists the salt spray and chemical deicers common in New England winters. Over a roof's lifetime, this immunity to freeze-thaw damage means no splitting, curling, or loss of integrity that plague shingles in this climate.

Why is aluminum better than steel for a roof in New Hampshire's climate?

Steel rusts because iron oxidizes rapidly; aluminum cannot rust because it contains zero iron. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath—even when scratched, it reforms. With 1025 mm of annual rainfall in Wentworth Terrace, constant moisture exposure would devastate steel roofing. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and apply Alunar 70% PVDF coating to both sides for extra corrosion defense. The Guardian warranty covers rust for the original owner's lifetime. This combination means your roof remains sound through decades of coastal-influenced wet weather, road salt, and humid freeze-thaw cycles without the maintenance steel demands.

Can metal roofing withstand New Hampshire's wind gusts?

Interlock panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph when installed to specification—well above Wentworth Terrace's typical wind gusts, which reach about 104 km/h (65 mph). The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all four edges, creating a unified roof surface that distributes force across the entire assembly rather than risking individual panel lift. Ice and snow add weight that further anchors the roof during severe weather. The panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to remote Antarctic research stations, so they've proven themselves in extreme wind environments. Your region's wind speeds won't compromise the system's structural integrity or warranty coverage.

Do metal roofs hold up to hail, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available—the roof is warranted even against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers offer discounts on metal roofs with Class 4 ratings because the material dramatically reduces claim frequency and severity compared to asphalt. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification to explore savings. New Hampshire's hail risk is lower than the Great Plains, but the superior impact resistance means you'll pay less to insure this roof over its lifetime than you would asphalt. The non-combustible aluminum construction (Class A fire rating available) may unlock additional discounts, making the overall cost of ownership far lower than the sticker price suggests.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Interlock metal roofing requires minimal maintenance—no annual treatments, no moss removal, no re-sealing like asphalt or wood shakes demand. Aluminum doesn't split, curl, or rot; the Alunar 70% PVDF coating is verified CALGreen-compliant for reduced maintenance. In Wentworth Terrace's wet climate (1025 mm rain yearly), traditional asphalt invites algae and moss growth, while wood shake decays from moisture. Aluminum sheds water and debris naturally. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspection of flashing are all that's needed. Because the panels are non-absorbent, they don't trap moisture or require the aggressive cleaning that damages cheaper roofs. Over 30 or 40 years, the maintenance savings alone justify the metal roof's higher initial cost—you're not buying a roof that needs constant care; you're buying decades of peace of mind.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Asphalt typically costs less upfront but lasts 15–20 years; metal roofs last 40–70 years or longer. Over that span, you'll replace asphalt 2–3 times, paying for labor and tear-off disposal repeatedly. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited for the original owner and transferable 50 years to the next owner—you're buying the last roof you'll install. Today's current promotion (no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation) significantly shrinks the upfront gap. On a per-year basis, metal beats asphalt decisively. Add energy savings from energy-efficient colors (reflectance up to 0.55), no insurance surcharges, and near-zero maintenance, and the total lifetime cost favors metal by thousands of dollars. For a homeowner planning to stay in Wentworth Terrace long-term, metal is the smarter investment.

Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock panels weigh just 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile and about 0.59 lb/sq ft for the Mediterranean Tile—the Tile profile is roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. For comparison, traditional slate or concrete tile requires extensive structural upgrades because those materials weigh 10–15 lb/sq ft. Aluminum's light weight means it installs directly over most existing asphalt roofs without stripping the old material first, saving labor and landfill waste. Your home's existing framing handles the load easily. This advantage matters especially in older New Hampshire homes where reinforcement would be costly or impractical. The lightweight design also means faster installation and lower labor expenses, further improving your project's overall value.

How long does it take to install a metal roof, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity. One of metal roofing's major advantages is that Interlock panels can install over most existing asphalt shingles—no tear-off required. This means less labor, less disruption to your home, and existing shingles stay out of the landfill. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., serving this region since 1999, handles the entire process with local expertise. The installer conducts a structural assessment, ensures proper ventilation and underlayment, and installs the panels using time-tested four-way interlocking methods. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms code compliance for New Hampshire. From start to finish, you'll have a complete, warranted roof in days—not weeks—with minimal mess and noise.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable at end-of-life; asphalt shingles are not and contribute millions of tons to landfills annually. By installing metal now, you eliminate the tear-off-to-landfill cycle entirely. If you ever replace the metal roof (unlikely—the roof will likely outlast the house), the aluminum has significant scrap value and diverts zero waste. Interlock has manufactured metal roofing since 1998 in Delta, BC, maintaining rigorous environmental standards. Your region receives about 1025 mm of rain and 3057 sunshine hours yearly; energy-efficient Interlock colors with emissivity 0.84 reflect solar heat instead of absorbing it like asphalt, reducing air-conditioning load and cooling costs. The combination of multi-decade durability and recyclability makes metal roofing the environmentally responsible choice for a homeowner committed to reducing landfill impact and energy consumption over the long term.
