Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Sandown, New Hampshire
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value From the word Hello, my husband and I knew we had found the right company. We went direct to the Mfg, eliminating the middleman because Interlock has their own crews installing the roof. I never have to play the game of whether it's the contractor's fault or not; it's the Mfg's fault IF there is ever an issue with my roof! Their Salesmen Mark, was always in contact with me, as is their business office - Jennifer was great - even when we delayed the job because of issues with our home out of our control. Once we gave the green light, their installation team was here within days and done within three days. They addressed rot we hadn't anticipated, brought in their inspector to ensure the job was going smooth and answered questions we had. We are very shy with contractors due to a couple of misfortunes, so we were very leery about going with any contractor in general. We have renewed hope there is good in this world. I couldn't be happier with not only the product but the company. WE LOVE OUR ROOF! The best part is I'll never have to worry again, and I can transfer my home into trust with confidence my family won't have to worry again either! Thanks, Interlock! Services: Roof installation, Attic venting
I had an Interlock roof put on several years ago and I am not sure I agree with the statement “more expensive, sure”. While it does cost more to put on the roof, I think the payback more than covers the extra price. I am sitting in my attic office, a place that got cold even with the heat this time of year, it is warm now. It stays cooler in the summer as well which saves on cooling costs. The sales person told me that it would be the case but I really didn’t believe it. I would buy this roof again in a heartbeat.
An excellent product and high quality installation.
Dear Interlock, I am writing to express my comments regarding the installation at the above address. First, we would like to thank Mike Baldassari for the professionalism he demonstrated during the initial meeting and follow-ups. His knowledge of the product and understanding of our concerns were related in a manner, that novices would understand. Next, the installers headed by Nikolay were knowledgeable and kept us apprised of the progress during the installation. Thirdly, I would like to thank Susan and Miranda for all their customer service support. Finally, the roof is absolutely beautiful. It looks great and gives our home a new, distinguished look. People stop and stare, to admire its’ appearance. Its’ appearance provides a stately, stunning look. This is our second and final roof at this home, which we expect to last for years, to the next Cassaro generation. I would recommend your company and product to anyone thinking about a long-lasting solution.
This is the 3rd roof I've had installed by Interlock. I put one on my original house, my cottage, and now my new house. They have always done an excellent job, and the aluminum shingles are a great product — light, sturdy, and still looking good even years down the road.
From sales to office staff and roofing crew.We had a wonderful experience with having our new roof installed. We liked that if we had questions there was someone to actually talk to. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Interlock Roofing.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sandown
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sandown, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sandown.
How does a metal roof handle Sandown's heavy snow loads and ice dams?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth, hard surface prevents adhesion that traps moisture on asphalt shingles. With about 116 cm of snow per year in Rockingham County, the lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, and you can add snow guards if desired. The panels' tight seams resist water penetration even when meltwater refreezes at the eaves, a real concern during Sandown's approximately 93 annual freeze-thaw cycles.
Why does aluminum hold up better than asphalt through repeated freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum oxide naturally self-heals when scratched, so the freeze-thaw cycle that cracks and curls asphalt shingles cannot damage aluminum's structure. Sandown experiences roughly 93 freeze-thaw days yearly, where moisture penetrates traditional roofing and expands as it freezes; aluminum panels remain dimensionally stable because water doesn't absorb into the metal. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM standards) adds a secondary moisture barrier that protects the substrate through decades of seasonal stress.
Can a metal roof withstand the wind gusts that hit Sandown?
Yes. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and Sandown's typical wind gusts around 104 km/h (about 65 mph) are well within that threshold. The four-way interlocking panels create a unified system that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than allowing individual shingles to lift or tear. This engineered interlock design, combined with proper fastening, gives you confidence during New England's unpredictable storms without worrying about premature failure.
Is a metal roof really rust-proof, or will mine corrode over time?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — rusting is chemically impossible. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), and when the aluminum surface is scratched, a new oxide layer automatically forms to protect the underlying metal. This self-healing property is why Interlock panels have been installed successfully from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica since 1998. In Sandown's climate, with about 1025 mm of annual rain, this corrosion resistance means your roof will never develop the rust staining or structural weakness that shortens the life of steel alternatives.
How much lighter is a metal tile roof than real tile, and do I need to reinforce my house?
Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft — roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile — so no structural reinforcement is required and it installs directly over most existing roofs. This lightweight advantage means you can upgrade to the authentic look of high-end tile without the engineering costs, permit delays, or construction disruption that real tile demands. Your home's framing, already engineered for asphalt shingles, handles aluminum tile easily, and the cost savings from avoiding structural work puts money back in your pocket.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to replacing asphalt shingles every 15–20 years?
The Guardian Warranty offers a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner and a 50-year transferable term to the next owner — meaning you buy one roof, not three or four. While asphalt shingles fail repeatedly due to Sandown's approximately 93 annual freeze-thaw cycles and UV exposure from about 3057 sunshine hours per year, aluminum's self-healing oxide layer and 30-year Alunar coating warranty outlast the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Current financing includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off, making the long-term math compelling.
How is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Approximately 95% of aluminum is recyclable, so at the end of its life — decades longer than asphalt — your roof becomes raw material for new products rather than landfill waste. Asphalt shingles, torn off every 15–20 years in Sandown's weather, accumulate in waste streams; aluminum breaks this cycle entirely. The panels are also CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, eliminating the chemical treatments and seasonal work that asphalt demands, and their reflective Alunar coating (initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 in Aged Copper Penny) reduces cooling load on hot days, lowering your home's energy footprint over time.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Sandown, and how long have they been in the area?
Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served Rockingham County and surrounding communities since 1999, bringing 25+ years of regional expertise to Sandown's challenging freeze-thaw and high-precipitation climate. They understand local building codes, the ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance requirements, and how to install over existing roofs in tight New England spaces. Current regional promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, so reach out for a local assessment and financing options tailored to your home.
Is a metal roof safer in a fire than asphalt shingles?
Interlock aluminum roofing achieves Class A fire rating availability as a non-combustible material — aluminum cannot ignite or support flame. Asphalt shingles are combustible and contribute to fire spread; aluminum panels ICC-ES evaluated under ESR-1790 standards eliminate that risk entirely. If you live in a wildfire-prone area or near forested sections of Rockingham County, or simply want the peace of mind that your roof cannot catch fire, aluminum's non-combustible design protects your home while meeting all building codes.
How long does it take to install an Interlock metal roof, and can you install over my existing shingles?
Installation timeline depends on your home's size and complexity, but Interlock panels install directly over most existing roofs without tear-off, cutting labor time and disposal costs significantly. The lightweight design — Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft — means crews work efficiently without structural strain, and the four-way interlocking system speeds fastening compared to overlapping shingle application. Because existing asphalt absorbs moisture during Sandown's roughly 1025 mm of annual rainfall, installing over it rather than removing it provides an additional moisture buffer, and your local installer can walk you through timeline specifics during a site assessment.
