Metal Roofing in Eddyville, Oregon — Lifetime Interlock® Aluminum Shingles Installed Locally

I live in a forest near the Oregon Coast. The original reason I wanted to purchase a metal roof was basically for fire prevention. Composition shingles are the worst type of roof you can have when living in a forested area; metal roofs are the best. On September 11, 1992 I was on the island of Kauai, Hawaii when Hurricane Iniki, a Category-5 hurricane, took a direct hit. For our emergency shelter, we took refuge at the newly built Kauai Community College. We were told it had been built to hurricane standards and was safe. The college had a metal roof made of long slates stretching from the top to bottom. As the hurricane grew in strength, I watched the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate at one side of the building starting to flap…then flap more and more until it went flying into the air. Then, I watched the slate next to it do the same. This went on and on. When the eye of the hurricane went over us and everything slowed down, the people in that building rushed over to our building. For some reason our building’s roof held. Living on the Oregon Coast we get high winds every year. When I was informed about how the Interlock roof is tied together, I was sold on purchasing that style. Now, my roof can withstand up to a 180 per hour wind gust. I also like it’s look. After it was installed I sent a photo to a friend and her reaction was: “I thought you were going to buy a metal roof.” The roof even has a slate look to it. I used to own a business where we sent installation crews all across the country to install our multiple-run kennels. I know the importance of having a crew that knows what they are doing and are good representatives of our business. I give the Interlock installation crew an A+. They not only know what they are doing, but they are HARD WORKERS as well. On my job they went way beyond just roofing my house. They tore out the dilapidated structure around my chimney and built me a completely new one. They also added new flashing at the bottom of my roof windows, so I no longer have a problem with runoff ruining my wooden frame. I now have a new roof that will last much longer than me. It has added value to my home and peace of mind to me. When considering a new roof, I highly recommend Interlock.

Love the material, installers worked hard, company picked worst time weather wise to install. Double checking of material needed for job and that it’s on the truck. We’re short the starter strip. If that had been on the truck, whole job would have taken about 5 days, instead of 22, there was a small weather window then. Don’t know WHO pulled the material list. Should’ve sent a driver out with missing material, thats what called a 5 star company. You should have backup local labor lists if you’re going to send your crews far from their homes (7 hours away). Had multiple underlayment blow offs. Should have used tarps over underlayment to secure the roof, especially with weather forecasts and distance of crews homes. Missing starter strip was the main underlying problem, weather was next biggest problem, then distance crew had to travel, with no local backup (your office crew should come up with a backup list for when trouble arises). I have built a home from scratch myself including installing all decking thru shingles. Have completely stripped and reroofed another house. Then completed a 5000 square foot and 6000 square foot commercial building. Did all deck to shingle roofing, then hired my own crew to apply a standing seam metal roof on the 5000 sq. Ft., building after 22 years. I know a little about how to plan out a job. Our house on the front was perfect for stripping a section, then replacing that section, instead of stripping the whole roof at once. Your installers need to be able to read a roof and come up with a sensible plan. Because of wind forecasts should have used tarps, as a second line of defense. As I said above we had small amounts of water come into house in multiple spots, enough to make stains on curtain and blinds, swellings wood floors (looks like it dried out). Hopefully it dried out in ceiling and walls, humidity was high because of everyday rain. We do have a Velux skylight window glass that has two cracks in it that we need to get replaced. Need to know if the trim around window just unscrews off, that a regular glass repair place can handle the job?

The roof is beautiful and will last for many, many years. We went with the Interlock Slate roof in black. It's stunning! Along with durability, the roof dresses up an otherwise plain house. An Interlock Metal Roof is not inexpensive. Scheduling the installation was a real bear; it kept getting delayed. Ultimately, it took 9 months from when we put our deposit down to when the roof was installed. That said, the installers were top-notch. They were quick, clean, polite, and answered all our questions. We absolutely love the roof and the two solar tubes they installed.
