Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Loraine, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Ivan with Interlock Metal Roofing is awesome. Always personable and willing to find and fix the problems. Roofs are going to have leaks and with Interlock I just call when I have an issue and Ivan fixes it. THANK YOU!
I was really impressed with the salesmen, Mike and Jared. They were incredibly knowledgeable about their product. I enjoyed speaking with them and did not feel any high-pressure sales tactics. If you are considering a metal roof, I would definitely recommend speaking with Mike and Jared first.

I cannot rave highly enough about the best experience I’ve ever had with a company and their employees. Their professionalism and workmanship were amazing. Interlock Metal Roofing did an exceptional job. The metal roof looks great on my historic house, and I continue to get compliments from the neighbors on how nicely the roof adds the finishing touch to the “1903 old lady. The roofers were incredible, arriving promptly first thing in the morning (7:30 am) and working every day until it was dark (8:30 pm). They would have finished the roof in the two-week period they had scheduled, but to our surprise, it was discovered that they had to remove four roofs installed on top of each other before they could install the new roof. There were no complaints, even though it added two extra work days to their schedule. They obviously left the place better than they found it, and I couldn’t be happier.

We are very happy with the job and the roof it looks great and we have no worries about having too replace the roof again it's ever lasting
I wanted to take a minute to tell you how happy we are with our new Interlock Roof. From working with you, in the beginning, the installation and not having to worry about a leaky roof ever again makes this one of the best investments we have made. We especially enjoyed working with your people. Angela in your office was such a pleasure to talk with, keeping us up to date on when we could expect the installation to begin. The installation crew (Peter, Art, and Victor) were very professional and so good about keeping the work area clean and worked around a barbecue we had planned with our neighbors. One of our initial concerns with a metal roof was what the noise level would be. Well, after all the rain that we have had in Oregon, we have to say that we think it is quieter than our old roof. Also, it is much more attractive than an asphalt roof. My wife and I are happy to have worked with you and will highly recommend you to anyone that needs to have a new roof on their home.
I’ve had an interlock metal roof on my home for 20 years. We have always been happy with the roof. People are always surprised to find out the roof is metal.
Jared form Interlock was great. Very detail oriented and thorough explaining all the types of roofing offered and providing us with a comprehensive estimate. If looking for a new roof. Dont hesitate, give them a call.
Excellent experience. Very professional and efficient install team.
My wife and I needed a new roof and we wanted something that would last and look great. We found an Interlock booth at our local home improvement show and saw a great product that met all our requirements. Even though the Interlock roof is expensive, I knew it would last longer than any number of regular roofs. The installers were a great bunch of guys and they did a professional installation. The roof looks beautiful, way better than an asphalt roof. Thanks, Interlock.
I was extremely happy with the outcome. I like how my roof looks, and improved the curb appeal of my house.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Loraine
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Loraine, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Loraine.
How does a metal roof handle Loraine's snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow efficiently because panels are smooth and slippery—critical in a region that averages about 80 cm of snow yearly and experiences roughly 34 freeze-thaw days per year. The aluminum won't crack, rot, or split under snow load the way asphalt, wood, and concrete tile do. Interlock's four-way interlocking design maintains a continuous seal even as thermal cycling stresses the roof. Optional snow guards are available if you want to control shedding, but the lightweight panels (Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft) eliminate the structural reinforcement costs that heavy materials demand.
Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust in Oregon's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes in water. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects against corrosion even when scratched. In Loraine's 1435 mm of annual rainfall, this chemistry is an asset: the metal improves with exposure. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Steel roofing requires paint maintenance; aluminum does not.
What exactly does Interlock's Guardian Warranty cover, and for how long?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original homeowner. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the failures asphalt and wood roofs face routinely in wet climates like Loraine's. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from project completion, adding resale appeal. This combination of no-cost repairs for life and transferability is unusual in roofing. Interlock has manufactured panels since 1998, and the product is installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica—proof of real-world durability.
What roof profiles does Interlock offer, and how do they look?
Interlock manufactures five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates a traditional material using four-way interlocking aluminum panels, so you get authentic architectural detail without the weight, maintenance, or fragility. Slate and Cedar Shingle suit farmhouses and historic homes. Shake works for rustic or cottage styles. Mediterranean Tile suits southwestern and coastal homes. Standing Seam appeals to contemporary designs. All profiles are available in multiple colors and install over most existing roofs—the Tile profile weighs about 96% less than concrete or clay tile, so no structural reinforcement is needed in Oregon homes.
How well does a metal roof hold up in Oregon wind gusts?
Loraine sees typical gusts around 100 km/h (62 mph), and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The panels lock together on all four edges, creating a unified system that prevents uplift and edge flutter—common failure points on asphalt. ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) documents this performance under IBC/IRC code. You won't hear rattling or see panels loosening after seasonal storms.
Is an Interlock metal roof covered if hail damages it?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available for any roofing material. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many homeowners in hail-prone regions see insurance premium reductions because the roof doesn't dent, crack, or puncture as easily as asphalt or wood. Check with your insurer about discounts; the high impact rating and non-combustible aluminum (Class A fire rating available) often qualify for credits. Oregon's climate is temperate, but hail resistance adds long-term value at no extra cost.
What's the timeline for installing an Interlock metal roof?
Installation timelines vary with roof size and complexity, but Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and can schedule your project efficiently. A major advantage: the lightweight aluminum—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft—installs directly over most existing roofs, eliminating costly tear-off labor. No structural reinforcement is needed. The installer will inspect your deck, install underlayment and flashing, then lay and interlock the panels. Discuss timeline and any roof prep when you call for a quote. The no-interest financing until Spring 2027 gives you flexibility to plan the work.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Aluminum requires almost no maintenance. Unlike asphalt (which degrades under UV and needs granule replacement), wood roofs (which split, rot, and harbor moss in 1435 mm of annual rain), and tile (which cracks in freeze-thaw cycles), Interlock aluminum panels are chemically inert and self-healing. Rinse gutters and debris as you would with any roof. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty against fading means no repainting. CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, the roof is virtually set-and-forget. Over a 50-year ownership, the labor savings alone justify the initial cost.
Will a metal roof help lower cooling costs in summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorb it, reducing air conditioning load. The Aged Copper Penny color achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, both rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Though Loraine averages about 3061 sunshine hours yearly—less than arid regions—every unit of reflected heat reduces cooling demand. Metal roofs don't trap heat the way asphalt does. On 80-plus-degree days, even a temperate climate benefits. The reflective advantage compounds over decades, especially as the climate warms and cooling seasons lengthen.
Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable aluminum—they can be melted down infinitely without degradation. Asphalt shingles end up in landfills after 15–20 years, creating waste that takes decades to break down. Over a 50-year lifespan, installing one metal roof eliminates three to four asphalt tear-offs. Interlock has manufactured panels since 1998, and the aluminum comes from roofing-grade ASTM B209 alloy, a closed-loop material. At end of life, your panels have scrap value. The lifecycle advantage—no repeated disposal, no virgin material needed for replacements—makes metal the sustainable choice for Loraine homeowners.
