Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Lorane, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Ivan with Interlock Metal Roofing is awesome. Always personable and willing to find and fix the problems. Roofs are going to have leaks and with Interlock I just call when I have an issue and Ivan fixes it. THANK YOU!
I was really impressed with the salesmen, Mike and Jared. They were incredibly knowledgeable about their product. I enjoyed speaking with them and did not feel any high-pressure sales tactics. If you are considering a metal roof, I would definitely recommend speaking with Mike and Jared first.

I cannot rave highly enough about the best experience I’ve ever had with a company and their employees. Their professionalism and workmanship were amazing. Interlock Metal Roofing did an exceptional job. The metal roof looks great on my historic house, and I continue to get compliments from the neighbors on how nicely the roof adds the finishing touch to the “1903 old lady. The roofers were incredible, arriving promptly first thing in the morning (7:30 am) and working every day until it was dark (8:30 pm). They would have finished the roof in the two-week period they had scheduled, but to our surprise, it was discovered that they had to remove four roofs installed on top of each other before they could install the new roof. There were no complaints, even though it added two extra work days to their schedule. They obviously left the place better than they found it, and I couldn’t be happier.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lorane
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lorane, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lorane.
How does a metal roof handle Lorane's winter snow and ice buildup?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice better than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface won't trap moisture the way shingles do—critical in a climate that gets about 80 cm of snow yearly and sits through roughly 34 freeze-thaw cycles. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance, which matters when winter gusts hit 100 km/h and snow load shifts. You can add snow guards if you want controlled shedding; the aluminum's light weight at 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft means your existing structure handles the load without reinforcement, even when snow accumulates.
Will a metal roof rust in Lorane's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the metal's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so corrosion simply isn't a failure mode here. Lorane gets about 1435 mm of rain annually, but Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) was designed for coastal salt-air installations and has been proven from Atlantic homes to an Antarctic research station. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides adds 30-year protection against chalking and fading, giving you a roof that ages gracefully without rust stains or deterioration.
What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?
Interlock backs the roof with a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—defects that plague asphalt and wood. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for a 50-year term, which adds resale appeal. Manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, these roofs are still performing on homes installed in the early 2000s. With Lorane's roughly 3061 sunshine hours per year and no UV breakdown risk from the PVDF finish, you're looking at a roof that outlasts your mortgage and the next owner's too.
Can my house's frame handle a metal roof, or do I need expensive reinforcement?
No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Slate and Shingle profiles install at about 0.41 lb/sq ft—so light that you can install over most existing roofs without touching a rafter. The Tile profile, which replicates real Mediterranean or slate tiles, weighs roughly 96% less than concrete or clay tile, meaning you get the traditional look without the structural headache. Lorane's winter snow load of about 80 cm annually is handled easily by that lightweight system; your house frame has been supporting asphalt's weight all along, so aluminum feels like nothing by comparison.
Do metal roofs really save money on heating and cooling in Oregon?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorb it, with thermal emissivity at 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 in lighter tones—meaning less heat soaking into your attic on the roughly 3061 sunny hours Lorane gets yearly. In Oregon's cool climate where heating dominates, the reflective finish reduces attic temperature swings, lowering cooling load in summer and reducing radiant heat loss in shoulder seasons. Cool Roof Rating Council certification backs the thermal performance, so you'll see utility savings over the roof's 50+ year life, not just in summer but across the year.
Is a metal roof durable enough to survive hailstorms without damage?
Yes. Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 is rarer than Class 3 (which many metal roofs claim); it means your roof absorbs impacts that would split wood shakes or crack tile. Lorane's typical wind gusts of 100 km/h and variable spring weather make hail a real risk in Lane County, so that Class 4 durability translates to peace of mind and potential insurance discounts—some carriers recognize metal roofs' impact resistance and lower premiums.
How does a metal roof handle Lorane's heavy rainfall without leaking?
Interlock's four-way interlocking panels overlap and seal so tightly that water can't find a path in; combined with a solid deck and ice-and-water underlayment during installation, the system sheds Lorane's roughly 1435 mm of annual rain the same way asphalt does—gravity and overlap do the work. The panels themselves are non-porous aluminum, not wood or composite that absorbs moisture, so there's no rot risk even in wet years. Proper installation over an existing roof or new deck, with flashing around penetrations, means your interior stays dry through the heaviest downpours Lane County throws at you.
How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Almost none. Metal doesn't split like wood shakes, curl like aged asphalt, or require seasonal algae treatment. You might rinse debris off after storms or fall cleanup, but that's it—no repairs, no spot replacement, no re-nailing. Interlock's ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms the system is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, saving you years of gutter cleaning, shingle repairs, and moss treatment that plague traditional roofs in Lorane's damp, 80 cm snow climate. The 30-year coating warranty on the Alunar® finish means no touch-ups or repainting either; the roof handles Lorane's 1435 mm rain and 34 annual freeze-thaw cycles without degradation.
Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, shake, or tile instead of the tin-can look?
Yes—Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile, each with authentic texture and shadow lines that read like the real material from the curb. The Shake and Tile profiles are popular in Oregon farmland and hillside homes where traditional character matters; the Slate works for both modern and classic exteriors. All profiles use the same roofing-grade aluminum and Alunar® 70% PVDF coating, so you're not trading durability for appearance—you get the look you want with Class A fire rating, UL 2218 Class 4 hail protection, and a lifetime warranty backing every choice.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Lorane, and do they know this area?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served this region since 1997—they know Lane County's weather, the quirks of Lorane's older homes, and the building department's requirements. They're the factory-authorized installer, so warranty work and product support are local, not a phone call to another state. Right now, financing is available with no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or you can get 10% off installation. A local crew means faster scheduling, lower travel costs, and a contractor who'll stand behind the work and show up again if anything ever needs attention.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Lorane’s climate?
Yes. Lorane averages about 80 cm of snow, 1435 mm of rain, roughly 34 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 100 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
