Review: October 20, 2016 Completion: June 11, 2016

I wanted to take a minute to tell you how happy we are with our new Interlock Roof. From working with you, in the beginning, the installation and not having to worry about a leaky roof ever again makes this one of the best investments we have made. We especially enjoyed working with your people. Angela in your office was such a pleasure to talk with, keeping us up to date on when we could expect the installation to begin. The installation crew (Peter, Art, and Victor) were very professional and so good about keeping the work area clean and worked around a barbecue we had planned with our neighbors. One of our initial concerns with a metal roof was what the noise level would be. Well, after all the rain that we have had in Oregon, we have to say that we think it is quieter than our old roof. Also, it is much more attractive than an asphalt roof. My wife and I are happy to have worked with you and will highly recommend you to anyone that needs to have a new roof on their home.

Review: August 22, 2018 Completion: June 29, 2018

My wife and I needed a new roof and we wanted something that would last and look great. We found an Interlock booth at our local home improvement show and saw a great product that met all our requirements. Even though the Interlock roof is expensive, I knew it would last longer than any number of regular roofs. The installers were a great bunch of guys and they did a professional installation. The roof looks beautiful, way better than an asphalt roof. Thanks, Interlock.

Review: August 15, 2024 Completion: July 10, 2024

Interlock roofing is a very professional group of people from the bottom up. They are patient, kind and understanding of all the problems with modern day roofing. Our entire experience working with interlock roofing has been amazing. I like to say they are faster than Amazon, we were told it takes about three days to complete, when the team got here they did a quick look and said we will be done in two days. It was done in two days just as we were told. They replaced all the damaged wafer board from vents not being properly installed. Fixed and properly installed all of our ventilation, which was just hanging in the crawl space before they replaced it. They cleaned up around the house at the end of each day and cleaned out the gutters. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have a long lasting metal roof and are tiered of trying to get a shingle roof contractor to even come out because shingles are so horrible they are backed up for over a year. Just think of it like this. shingle roofs have to be redone about every fifteen years so the contractors are always backed up and wouldn't give us the time of day. With interlock roofing it's one and done and gives them more time to move on and invest in your needs. They really took the time to listen and care about our situation and did everything they could to help us achieve a beautiful long lasting metal roof that we wanted.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Walton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Walton, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Walton.

How does a metal roof handle the snow and ice we get in Walton?

Aluminum metal roofing sheds snow and ice effectively because of its smooth, hard surface and the four-way interlocking panel design that prevents water infiltration. Walton averages about 64 cm of snow annually with roughly 19 freeze-thaw cycles per year, conditions that can trap moisture under asphalt shingles and cause rot. The Interlock panels' lightweight construction (the Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft) means snow load won't stress your home's framing, and the smooth surface naturally prevents ice dams. Snow guards can be added if you prefer to manage runoff strategically rather than let it slide.

Can a metal roof rust? I thought all metal roofs eventually corrode.

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and creates rust. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy, which naturally forms a thin oxide layer that actually heals itself when scratched. That self-healing property is especially valuable in Walton's wet climate (averaging 1535 mm of rain yearly) and damp freeze-thaw environment. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both panel sides adds another 30-year durability layer, so corrosion simply isn't a failure mode here like it would be with steel.

Does Walton's wind and storms pose a risk to metal roofing?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above Walton's typical gust risk. Local data shows gusts reaching about 120 km/h (75 mph), which the panels handle easily. The interlocking design distributes wind loads across the whole roof system rather than placing stress on individual fasteners. Combined with proper installation to spec, this locking mechanism is why the roof performs reliably in coastal salt-air environments and even at an Antarctic research station—conditions far more extreme than Oregon's Willamette Valley.

Will installing a metal roof lower my homeowner's insurance in Walton?

Your homeowner's insurance may offer a discount because Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available. Class 4 means the roof withstands 1.5-inch hailstones without perforation, and the Guardian Warranty even covers that scenario—something asphalt shingles and many other materials can't claim. With Walton's wet climate and occasional severe storms, that impact resistance translates to lower claim risk from your insurer's perspective. We recommend contacting your agent with the UL 2218 rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report to see what premium reduction or coverage improvement might apply to your policy.

Does a metal roof really save money on cooling costs?

Yes, especially if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock's reflective coatings achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning the roof bounces heat away rather than absorbing it like asphalt does. Walton enjoys about 3042 sunshine hours per year, so that reflection compounds over time. In summer, cooler roofing reduces air-conditioning load; in winter, the reflectance doesn't interfere with passive solar gain. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms real-world performance. Over a 50-year lifespan, the energy savings alone can offset the initial cost difference versus asphalt.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

When you factor in lifespan, the math favors metal significantly. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years and requires tear-off replacement—repeatedly sending tons to landfill and incurring disposal fees each cycle. Interlock carries a lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, with a transferable 50-year warranty for the next owner, meaning one installation likely outlasts multiple asphalt replacements. Add in minimal maintenance, energy savings (energy-efficiency colors reflect heat year-round in Walton's 3042 annual sunshine hours), and no structural reinforcement needed despite 64 cm of snow annually, and you're buying your last roof. Current financing offers zero payments and zero interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.

What exactly does the Interlock warranty cover, and for how long?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the failure modes that typically kill asphalt or wood roofs in Walton's damp, freeze-thaw climate (19 freeze-thaw days yearly). Unlike prorated warranties that diminish over time, yours remains full-strength for your ownership. When you sell, the next owner gets a one-time transfer good for 50 years from installation completion. The 30-year coating warranty (Alunar 70% PVDF, measured per ASTM D4214 and D2244) protects color and gloss separately, so your roof's appearance stays protected long-term.

How long does metal roof installation take, and do I need a new deck?

Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity; Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving this region since 1997, can provide a specific timeline during your consultation. One major advantage: the aluminum panels' extreme lightness (the Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile) means most metal roof installations proceed directly over your existing asphalt shingles—no expensive tear-off required. This reduces labor, disposal costs, and project disruption. The contractor will inspect deck condition and add underlayment and ventilation to ensure proper performance in Walton's 1535 mm annual rainfall. New roof, no structural reinforcement, minimal disruption.

What maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Remarkably little compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Aluminum doesn't split, curl, crack, or rot like wood shake does in wet climates, and it doesn't accumulate algae or moss the way asphalt absorbs moisture. In Walton's rainy environment (1535 mm yearly), you'll avoid the moss and decay problems common on darker asphalt roofs. Periodic inspection of fasteners and sealant—typically every 5–10 years—is standard practice, and simple rinsing removes debris. The CALGreen-verified design confirms reduced maintenance burden versus traditional materials. That minimal upkeep, combined with the Alunar 70% PVDF coating's 30-year color warranty, means your roof stays reliable and attractive with far less effort than competing options.

Is a metal roof considered fire-safe?

Yes. Aluminum is non-combustible and Interlock offers Class A fire classification when specified, the highest rating available under building codes. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance) confirms its fire performance, and the aluminum substrate itself will never fuel a fire. That non-combustibility is a significant safety advantage over asphalt shingles in Walton or anywhere else, and it may support favorable insurance underwriting. If fire risk is a concern for your property—whether from wildfire exposure, proximity to dense vegetation, or simply seeking the safest possible roof—specify the Class A rating during design and installation.
