Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Greenleaf, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |

What our customers are saying:
We are very happy with the job and the roof it looks great and we have no worries about having too replace the roof again it's ever lasting
I wanted to take a minute to tell you how happy we are with our new Interlock Roof. From working with you, in the beginning, the installation and not having to worry about a leaky roof ever again makes this one of the best investments we have made. We especially enjoyed working with your people. Angela in your office was such a pleasure to talk with, keeping us up to date on when we could expect the installation to begin. The installation crew (Peter, Art, and Victor) were very professional and so good about keeping the work area clean and worked around a barbecue we had planned with our neighbors. One of our initial concerns with a metal roof was what the noise level would be. Well, after all the rain that we have had in Oregon, we have to say that we think it is quieter than our old roof. Also, it is much more attractive than an asphalt roof. My wife and I are happy to have worked with you and will highly recommend you to anyone that needs to have a new roof on their home.
Interlock roofing is a very professional group of people from the bottom up. They are patient, kind and understanding of all the problems with modern day roofing. Our entire experience working with interlock roofing has been amazing. I like to say they are faster than Amazon, we were told it takes about three days to complete, when the team got here they did a quick look and said we will be done in two days. It was done in two days just as we were told. They replaced all the damaged wafer board from vents not being properly installed. Fixed and properly installed all of our ventilation, which was just hanging in the crawl space before they replaced it. They cleaned up around the house at the end of each day and cleaned out the gutters. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have a long lasting metal roof and are tiered of trying to get a shingle roof contractor to even come out because shingles are so horrible they are backed up for over a year. Just think of it like this. shingle roofs have to be redone about every fifteen years so the contractors are always backed up and wouldn't give us the time of day. With interlock roofing it's one and done and gives them more time to move on and invest in your needs. They really took the time to listen and care about our situation and did everything they could to help us achieve a beautiful long lasting metal roof that we wanted.
I’ve had an interlock metal roof on my home for 20 years. We have always been happy with the roof. People are always surprised to find out the roof is metal.
Jared form Interlock was great. Very detail oriented and thorough explaining all the types of roofing offered and providing us with a comprehensive estimate. If looking for a new roof. Dont hesitate, give them a call.
Excellent experience. Very professional and efficient install team.
My wife and I needed a new roof and we wanted something that would last and look great. We found an Interlock booth at our local home improvement show and saw a great product that met all our requirements. Even though the Interlock roof is expensive, I knew it would last longer than any number of regular roofs. The installers were a great bunch of guys and they did a professional installation. The roof looks beautiful, way better than an asphalt roof. Thanks, Interlock.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Greenleaf
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Greenleaf, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Greenleaf.
How does metal roofing handle Greenleaf's snow and ice buildup?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth, hard surface resists ice dam formation that traps water on asphalt. Greenleaf receives about 64 cm of snow annually with roughly 19 freeze-thaw cycles per year — the exact conditions that cause asphalt curling and leaks. Aluminum's oxide layer remains flexible through temperature swings; it won't crack or curl as traditional shingles do. You can add snow guards to match your roofline style if desired, and the light weight (~0.41 lb/sq ft for Slate profile) means no structural reinforcement needed even with accumulated snow load.
Does a metal roof leak in heavy rain given Greenleaf's 1500+ mm annual rainfall?
No — Interlock panels are four-way interlocked and installed over a solid deck with underlayment, creating redundant water barriers that handle intense rainfall without leaks. Greenleaf averages about 1535 mm of rain per year, and the interlocking seams overlap in all directions so water flows down and off, not into seams. The ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms the system's water-shedding design. Proper installation by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving this region since 1997, ensures each panel is secured and flashed correctly so standing water never reaches the structure.
Why won't my aluminum metal roof rust like steel roofing can?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — rusting is an iron-only process. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that protects it from corrosion and actually self-heals when scratched. On top of that, Interlock panels receive a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against fading and chalking. Greenleaf's climate includes salt air exposure risk from coastal proximity and roughly 19 annual freeze-thaw cycles that corrode steel; aluminum's dual protection (oxide + coating) means your roof won't degrade from either. The Guardian warranty explicitly covers rusting — because it simply won't happen.
Can a metal roof withstand the wind gusts common in Oregon's Willamette Valley?
Yes — Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Greenleaf experiences typical daily winds around 16 km/h with gusts reaching 120 km/h, well within the panel's rated capacity. The overlapping design means each panel is locked on all four sides, so wind pressure cannot peel or lift sections. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has installed roofs across the Pacific Northwest since 1997 and understands regional wind patterns; proper installation according to ICC-ES ESR-1790 guidelines ensures your roof stays put in seasonal storms.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure to install metal roofing?
No — aluminum panels weigh a fraction of traditional tile or slate. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Greenleaf's climate includes about 64 cm of annual snowfall and frequent freeze-thaw cycles; that reduced weight means your existing roof structure handles both snow load and seasonal stress without reinforcement. Most homes can install Interlock over their existing asphalt shingles, saving thousands in tear-off labor and structural upgrades. You get the authentic appearance of heavy materials with zero risk to your home's framing.
What's the hail rating on metal roofing, and can it lower my insurance?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That extraordinary durability may qualify you for homeowners insurance discounts; many insurers recognize metal's superior impact resistance compared to asphalt. Greenleaf's location in Lane County means you should discuss this rating with your agent. The combination of lightweight aluminum construction, proven impact resistance, and transferable 50-year warranty to the next owner makes metal roofing a lower-risk asset than asphalt. Bring the UL 2218 Class 4 documentation to your insurance review.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over a 50-year lifespan?
Metal roofing typically costs more upfront but ends the asphalt replacement cycle. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years in Greenleaf's climate (heavy rain at 1535 mm annually, freeze-thaw at 19 days per year, and gusts to 120 km/h all accelerate deterioration). Interlock's lifetime limited warranty for the original owner and 50-year transferable warranty for the next owner mean you install once and walk away. No tear-offs to the landfill, no labor every two decades. Factor in current financing — no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation — and the true cost of ownership favors metal decisively. You're buying your last roof.
What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. Non-prorated means the coverage doesn't decline over time — a defect found at year 40 is covered the same way as year 5. Greenleaf's harsh climate (1535 mm rain, 64 cm snow, 19 freeze-thaw cycles annually) punishes inferior materials; Interlock's aluminum construction and dual-sided Alunar coating eliminate the failure modes that typically claim asphalt roofs. You're protected for decades, and the roof's resale appeal transfers with the warranty to the buyer.
Do reflective metal roofs really cut cooling costs in Oregon?
Yes — Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect heat instead of absorbing it like asphalt does. The Aged Copper Penny finish, for example, achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning it bounces sunlight and radiates absorbed heat away. Greenleaf receives about 3042 annual sunshine hours; over warm months, that reflection meaningfully reduces attic temperature and cooling load. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms the performance in real-world conditions. The lighter color profiles also pair with Greenleaf's climate: metal won't trap heat that drives ice dam formation in winter while reducing summer cooling expense year-round.
Does metal roofing offer better fire protection than asphalt or wood shingles?
Yes — Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and Class A fire-rated (the highest rating available), meaning it won't ignite, spread flame, or produce significant smoke. That's a dramatic safety advantage over asphalt, which fuels wildfires, or wood shake, which burns readily. Oregon's fire season creates real risk; a metal roof won't contribute to structure ignition or evacuation danger. Aluminum's non-combustibility is inherent to the material, not a coating, so it persists for the roof's entire 50-year lifespan. The ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms compliance with building codes nationwide. Beyond safety, many insurers offer premium discounts for Class A roofing, and resale appeal increases in fire-prone regions.
