Interlock roofing is a very professional group of people from the bottom up. They are patient, kind and understanding of all the problems with modern day roofing. Our entire experience working with interlock roofing has been amazing. I like to say they are faster than Amazon, we were told it takes about three days to complete, when the team got here they did a quick look and said we will be done in two days. It was done in two days just as we were told. They replaced all the damaged wafer board from vents not being properly installed. Fixed and properly installed all of our ventilation, which was just hanging in the crawl space before they replaced it. They cleaned up around the house at the end of each day and cleaned out the gutters. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have a long lasting metal roof and are tiered of trying to get a shingle roof contractor to even come out because shingles are so horrible they are backed up for over a year. Just think of it like this. shingle roofs have to be redone about every fifteen years so the contractors are always backed up and wouldn't give us the time of day. With interlock roofing it's one and done and gives them more time to move on and invest in your needs. They really took the time to listen and care about our situation and did everything they could to help us achieve a beautiful long lasting metal roof that we wanted.

Review: October 20, 2016 Completion: June 11, 2016

I wanted to take a minute to tell you how happy we are with our new Interlock Roof. From working with you, in the beginning, the installation and not having to worry about a leaky roof ever again makes this one of the best investments we have made. We especially enjoyed working with your people. Angela in your office was such a pleasure to talk with, keeping us up to date on when we could expect the installation to begin. The installation crew (Peter, Art, and Victor) were very professional and so good about keeping the work area clean and worked around a barbecue we had planned with our neighbors. One of our initial concerns with a metal roof was what the noise level would be. Well, after all the rain that we have had in Oregon, we have to say that we think it is quieter than our old roof. Also, it is much more attractive than an asphalt roof. My wife and I are happy to have worked with you and will highly recommend you to anyone that needs to have a new roof on their home.

Review: August 22, 2018 Completion: June 29, 2018

My wife and I needed a new roof and we wanted something that would last and look great. We found an Interlock booth at our local home improvement show and saw a great product that met all our requirements. Even though the Interlock roof is expensive, I knew it would last longer than any number of regular roofs. The installers were a great bunch of guys and they did a professional installation. The roof looks beautiful, way better than an asphalt roof. Thanks, Interlock.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Westlake

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Westlake, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Westlake.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Westlake?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed snow and ice effectively, and the aluminum's light weight—about 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—never overloads your structure. Westlake averages roughly 44 cm of snow annually with about 12 freeze-thaw cycles per year. The panels' smooth surfaces prevent ice dam buildup that plagues asphalt roofs in these conditions. Snow guards are available if you want to control slide-off timing on steep pitches. The panels are rated for standard snow loads under ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance.

Can aluminum roofing rust in wet Oregon climates?

No. Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it develops a microscopic oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—a process that actually strengthens the metal over time. Westlake receives about 1893 mm of rain annually, and the Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides, 30-year warranty) adds a second barrier against moisture. This dual protection is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations since 1998. You'll never see rust stains bleeding down your fascia.

Are metal roofs secure in Westlake's wind gusts?

Absolutely. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors, resisting wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—well above Westlake's typical gust peaks near 119 km/h. This warranty coverage is backed by UL testing. The panels' light weight (Shake at ~0.58 lb/sq ft) reduces uplift forces while the mechanical interlocks distribute wind stress across the entire roof assembly rather than relying on fasteners alone. Over the 25+ years Interlock (PNW) Inc. has served this region, wind-related failures are virtually nonexistent.

Does Westlake's heavy rain cause metal roof leaks?

Heavy rainfall doesn't threaten Interlock roofs. With 1893 mm of rain per year in Westlake, you need panel overlap and drainage geometry you can trust. The four-way interlocking system creates a rain-shedding pathway that moves water laterally and downward without pooling. Proper underlayment (typically synthetic, non-woven) and a solid deck add a second and third layer of leak defense. Installation over your existing roof—possible because aluminum weighs only ~0.59 lb/sq ft for the Tile profile—retains that original deck and ventilation space. When installed to spec, Interlock roofs have no documented leak history in climates far wetter than Westlake.

Does a metal roof reduce cooling costs in Oregon summers?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning they reflect the sun's heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt. Westlake enjoys about 3083 hours of sunshine annually. This reflectance cuts cooling load noticeably on south and west-facing roofs, lowering AC demand or reducing cooling runtime for homes that use it. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms these thermal properties. Over a 40-50 year roof life, the energy savings compound significantly. Unlike dark asphalt, Interlock won't add heat stress to your attic in summer.

What warranty does Interlock offer, and how long does the roof actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and impact loss. It's also one-time transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding significant value if you sell. Interlock panels manufactured since 1998 are still performing in the field with no material failures. Aluminum won't rot, and the Alunar® 70% PVDF coating carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 standards). You're looking at a 50+ year roof that you'll likely never replace.

Is Interlock roofing covered if hail damages it in Westlake?

Yes. Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty explicitly covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this rating and offer discounts on premiums for impact-rated metal roofing. Westlake's climate brings occasional hail during severe weather, but Class 4 protection means you won't face deductibles or coverage denials for stone impacts that would perforate asphalt or puncture wood shake. File a claim with confidence knowing the product is independently tested and your warranty has your back.

What profile options does Interlock offer for Westlake homes?

Five profiles are available: Slate for traditional masonry appeal, Cedar Shingle for classic residential style, Shake for rustic charm, Standing Seam for modern clean lines, and Mediterranean Tile for European architectural heritage. Each replicates its namesake material's visual dimension and shadow line, giving you genuine aesthetic choice. The Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles are especially popular in the Pacific Northwest. All profiles use the same four-way interlocking aluminum construction, same 30-year coating warranty, and same non-rust durability. Choose the look that fits your home and neighborhood without sacrificing performance.

Can an older Westlake home support a metal roof without reinforcement?

Yes, almost certainly. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which visually mimics heavy traditional tile, weighs only ~0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than actual clay or concrete tile. Slate and Shake profiles are even lighter. Most homes built in the last 50 years can safely handle this weight. Because Interlock roofing installs over existing roofs (possible due to its negligible weight), you avoid costly structural work. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms installation over most conventional framing and decking. If you've been hesitating because you thought metal roofing required engineering support, aluminum changes the equation entirely.

Is Interlock metal roofing cheaper than asphalt over 40 years?

Yes. Asphalt roofs typically last 15–20 years; Interlock roofs last 50+ years. Over 40 years, you'll replace asphalt twice—paying material and labor twice—while your metal roof remains. Even accounting for Interlock's higher upfront cost, the total-cost-of-ownership favors metal by a wide margin. You're also eliminating the tear-off and landfill cycle (asphalt doesn't recycle; Interlock is ~95% recyclable). Right now, Interlock (PNW) Inc. offers financing with no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. That removes the first-cost barrier while you benefit from decades of durability.
