Interlock roofing is a very professional group of people from the bottom up. They are patient, kind and understanding of all the problems with modern day roofing. Our entire experience working with interlock roofing has been amazing. I like to say they are faster than Amazon, we were told it takes about three days to complete, when the team got here they did a quick look and said we will be done in two days. It was done in two days just as we were told. They replaced all the damaged wafer board from vents not being properly installed. Fixed and properly installed all of our ventilation, which was just hanging in the crawl space before they replaced it. They cleaned up around the house at the end of each day and cleaned out the gutters. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have a long lasting metal roof and are tiered of trying to get a shingle roof contractor to even come out because shingles are so horrible they are backed up for over a year. Just think of it like this. shingle roofs have to be redone about every fifteen years so the contractors are always backed up and wouldn't give us the time of day. With interlock roofing it's one and done and gives them more time to move on and invest in your needs. They really took the time to listen and care about our situation and did everything they could to help us achieve a beautiful long lasting metal roof that we wanted.

Review: October 20, 2016 Completion: June 11, 2016

I wanted to take a minute to tell you how happy we are with our new Interlock Roof. From working with you, in the beginning, the installation and not having to worry about a leaky roof ever again makes this one of the best investments we have made. We especially enjoyed working with your people. Angela in your office was such a pleasure to talk with, keeping us up to date on when we could expect the installation to begin. The installation crew (Peter, Art, and Victor) were very professional and so good about keeping the work area clean and worked around a barbecue we had planned with our neighbors. One of our initial concerns with a metal roof was what the noise level would be. Well, after all the rain that we have had in Oregon, we have to say that we think it is quieter than our old roof. Also, it is much more attractive than an asphalt roof. My wife and I are happy to have worked with you and will highly recommend you to anyone that needs to have a new roof on their home.

No Completing their projects on time. Their customer service and communication really lacks. Project managers need to be on site to address issues. Cleaning up after themselves to prevent accidents.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Dunes City

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Dunes City, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Dunes City.

How does a metal roof handle snow and ice in Dunes City's winter climate?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because aluminum's smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams from forming and anchoring. Dunes City averages about 44 cm of snow annually with roughly 12 freeze-thaw cycles per year—exactly the conditions that cause asphalt to crack and leak. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels stay watertight through those transitions. You can add snow guards if you want to retain snow for insulation, but the metal itself won't degrade from the freeze-thaw stress that shortens asphalt life.

Will a metal roof leak with Dunes City's heavy rainfall?

No—Dunes City receives about 1893 mm of rain annually, and metal roofs handle that volume better than most materials because water sheds immediately off the interlocked seams. The four-way interlocking panel design means water cannot travel horizontally into gaps; it runs straight down to the gutters. Professional installation over a solid deck with underlayment is the key. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has been installing in this region since 1997 and knows exactly how to slope and seal for the Pacific Northwest's wet climate.

Can a metal roof withstand Dunes City's wind gusts?

Yes—Dunes City experiences typical gusts around 119 km/h, and Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so tightly that wind cannot lift or separate them. The warranty covers wind resistance explicitly, which means you're protected by contract, not just by engineering. In a region where storm gusts regularly reach near-maximum values, that tight seal and named warranty become real peace of mind.

Does metal roofing hold up to hail, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock aluminum roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest hail classification available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That durability often qualifies you for homeowners insurance discounts because metal roofs reduce claim risk. Over a 30-year roof life in Dunes City's freeze-thaw environment, you'll avoid the cumulative damage asphalt suffers from impact and thermal cycling. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation; many carriers recognize both.

Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel, especially near coastal areas?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—only the element itself and its oxide layer, which self-heals when scratched. Steel roofing requires continuous coating maintenance to prevent rust, especially in salt air. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) finished with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Even in Pacific Northwest rain and freeze-thaw (12 cycles annually), aluminum doesn't corrode from moisture or salt—it just gets older without rusting.

Does my house need structural reinforcement for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile profile—which replicates heavy clay tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Your home's framing already supports asphalt shingles; aluminum metal roofing weighs far less, so it often installs directly over an existing roof. This means lower labor costs, no structural engineering, and faster completion—valuable when Dunes City's wet season approaches and you want protection installed quickly.

Will a metal roof actually lower my cooling costs in Oregon?

Metal roofing reflects heat better than asphalt, and energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny). Dunes City receives about 3083 sunshine hours per year—enough to make that reflectance meaningful. In summer, when you're trying to keep cooling bills down, those lighter tones bounce solar heat away before it enters your home. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms the effect. The savings vary by color, insulation, and home orientation, but every percentage of reflectance reduces the heat load your HVAC system must manage.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof actually require?

Metal roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood shake, or tile. Asphalt shingles degrade in Dunes City's 12 annual freeze-thaw cycles and need moss/algae cleaning every few years. Wood shake splits and rots in 1893 mm of annual rain. Concrete tile cracks in freeze-thaw. Aluminum? It doesn't split, rot, curl, or crack. Leaves blow off a hard metal surface; moss doesn't anchor to PVDF fluorocarbon coating. You'll rinse gutters and check flashing—routine on any roof—but you won't reroof asphalt twice in your lifetime. The Guardian Warranty even covers maintenance costs under its material protection, so you know what you're responsible for.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt over my roof's lifetime?

Asphalt shingles cost less initially but last 15–20 years in Dunes City's wet, freeze-thaw climate; metal roofing is installed once and remains serviceable for 50+ years. Over that span, you replace asphalt 2–3 times; metal replaces zero times. Factor in labor, disposal fees, and the disruption of tearing off old roofing, and metal becomes cheaper over the roof's life. The Guardian lifetime limited warranty is non-prorated for the original owner and transfers once (50 years from completion), so the next owner is protected too. Current financing offers—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—shift the initial cost burden, making the math clearer now.

What does the warranty actually cover, and how long is it good for?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited warranty for the original owner—meaning it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own your home. It's non-prorated, so a defect in year 49 is treated the same as year 1. The warranty transfers once to the next owner, who receives 50 years of coverage from the roof's completion date. That two-generation protection is backed by material engineered to last: Interlock has been manufacturing aluminum roofing since 1998, and panels have been installed on everything from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) confirms its performance meets IBC/IRC code nationwide.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Dunes City’s climate?

Yes. Dunes City averages about 44 cm of snow, 1893 mm of rain, roughly 12 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 119 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
