We are extremely pleased with the quality, appearance and fast installation of our new Interlock roof. The crew did awesome work and were friendly and careful. We feel so much safer with the protection of our metal roof on our home, which is surrounded by beautiful fir trees.

Review: June 15, 2021Completion: January 22, 2021

Looks great, unlike the common metal roofs you see.And being aluminum it won't rust out. Recently we had freezing rain which caused some tree limbs to break off and fall from a tree close to our house which demolished one gutter and part of another one, also partially smashing a roof vent ; but the metal roof held up supprisingly well. We also had a forest fire this past summer before putting this roof on that came close.A metal roof is just a little more deterent you can add against such events.5 stars. Damon, the installers, and everyone at interlock were wonderful and easy to work with. THANKS . Positive, Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value, Services: Roof installation

Review: October 9, 2018Completion: September 7, 2018

Interlock Roofing could have improved by communicating better when there was an issue. It is expensive, but it is very nice. We had the August 20th date picked out for a long time and then at the beginning of August, a lady called and asked us to schedule a date for the installation and I told her that we already picked out August 20th. They had to postpone because they ran into some issues and then they didn't show up for the postponed date, so I had my doubts. Once they showed up, got it done, and cleaned up though, it appeared that the scheduling was just a bump in the road. I had my doubts, but once they showed up to do the work, they were great. They did a great job and the roof is beautiful. I get nothing but compliments from my neighbors. I am very pleased with it.

Review: June 15, 2020Completion: February 26, 2018

We had our roof replaced about 1.5 years ago with Interlock and the experience was amazing. They were easy to schedule, matched their estimate to the cent, helped us find a great financing company, and were ahead of schedule. The whole process from meeting & picking from a great selection to watching them tear down layers of shingles and apply a seamless roof was impressively efficient. I am likely to recommend Interlock Roofing to a friend because it looks great. Interlock Roofing could have improved the notification of changes in timing, that would have been appreciated. We are really pleased with the way the roof looks, we've gotten a number of comments from neighbors about the attractiveness of the roof, and we're looking forward to years of good service.

Excellent product and insulation was also excellent. I would recommend this product as the last roof your house will ever need. The fir needles wash off with a good rain and the slate roof looks just like slate. AAA+++

Review: August 15, 2021Completion: March 26, 2019

Update on my Interlock Roof System. I encourage you to read all of this review, because it has a very important element to it, and it might surprise you. I had the roof installed 2 years ago, & as noted in my original review below, the subcontractor at that time was less than attentive. Turns out, his crew was, too. In late 2020, there was a pretty significant leak into the kitchen from the sola tube, which prompted a repair call. Ivan (super knowledgeable guy) came out to inspect the leaks. Mr. Yvon Giroux, VP of Installation in Canada, decided to have his best crew come out & completely tear off not only the Interlock Roof, but the asphalt roof underneath it as well, & start from absolute scratch. The tear off, any repairs, & full installation was done in 2 days. Right after, we had several days of heavy rain. Not. One. Drip. Anywhere. The roof is even more attractive and beautiful than before. Interlock earned every one of their 5 stars. Services: Roof inspection, Roof installation, Roof repair

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in North Santiam

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in North Santiam, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in North Santiam.

Can a metal roof rust in Oregon's rainy climate?

No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Our roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy forms a naturally protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, even in North Santiam's 1,166 mm annual rainfall. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel for extra durability in moisture-heavy air. With a 30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading, your roof stays corrosion-free through decades of wet Marion County winters.

How does a metal roof handle North Santiam's heavy rain without leaking?

The four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed water like shingles, and the overlapping seams are designed so rain flows downward and outward—never pooling or backing up. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment keeps water from penetrating, just like traditional roofing. North Santiam receives about 1,166 mm of rain yearly, but properly installed Interlock panels have proven watertight from coastal British Columbia to Antarctica. The interlocking design plus skilled installation by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) since 1997 ensures your home stays dry.

Will a metal roof stay secure in Marion County wind and gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, and North Santiam's typical gusts around 105 km/h (65 mph) are well within that safety margin. The panels lock together on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This design is verified under ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 for the International Building Code. Our local installer has been securing roofs across the region since 1997, so your home will withstand the Pacific Northwest's winter wind patterns.

Is a metal roof light enough to install over my existing roof without reinforcement?

Yes—aluminum is extraordinarily light. The Interlock Cedar Shingle profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft, the Shake about 0.58, and the Mediterranean Tile around 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than traditional concrete or clay tile. This means no costly structural reinforcement is needed, and most existing roofs can support a new metal layer. In North Santiam, where homes may endure 37 freeze-thaw cycles yearly plus snow, avoiding structural stress is a genuine advantage. You get the durability of metal without the weight penalty.

Does hail damage a metal roof, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock aluminum roofs earn a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this durability and may offer premium discounts. North Santiam's climate includes occasional hail risk, but a Class 4-rated metal roof provides real protection that asphalt or wood cannot match. Contact your insurance agent with the UL 2218 rating to discuss potential savings; the combination of proven impact resistance and a lifetime limited warranty often makes metal roofing an attractive claim-prevention investment.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover, and how long does it last?

The Guardian warranty covers your roof for life as the original owner—no prorating—against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell, the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion, a one-time transfer that adds real value at resale. North Santiam's 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 19 cm of snow demand a roof that lasts; aluminum's non-corrosive nature plus the lifetime coverage mean you're buying your last roof. Compare that to asphalt shingles needing replacement every 15-25 years, and the lifetime guarantee becomes a genuine peace-of-mind benefit.

Will a metal roof help cool my home and lower summer energy bills?

energy-efficient colors with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84 reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing cooling loads on sunny days. North Santiam enjoys about 3,152 sunshine hours yearly, so reflective coatings deliver genuine summer cooling benefit. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms these thermal properties, and lighter colors in particular cut cooling energy compared to traditional dark roofing. Over the roof's 50+ year life, the energy savings compound—especially as summers warm and cooling demands rise.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Aluminum requires virtually no maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade from UV and weather, or wood shakes, which split and rot from North Santiam's 1,166 mm annual rain and 37 freeze-thaw days, Interlock aluminum panels don't curl, crack, or lose integrity over time. No moss treatment, no resealing, no replacement of individual shingles. The CALGreen-verified low-maintenance design means you save thousands in upkeep costs over the roof's life. Between no repairs and no tear-offs, aluminum is genuinely carefree compared to traditional materials.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over its lifetime?

When you calculate total cost over 50+ years, metal is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt needs replacement every 15-25 years—that's two, three, or four roofs worth of material and labor costs, plus landfill fees. Metal's lifetime limited warranty and proven 25+ year track record (Interlock has manufactured since 1998) mean you pay once and stop. North Santiam's freeze-thaw cycles and rain accelerate asphalt degradation, making the durability argument even stronger here. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—lowers the entry cost. Spread over decades, aluminum costs less.

Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that happens every 15-25 years. Each replacement of asphalt shingles sends tons of waste to landfill; metal roofing never needs that. With a 50+ year lifespan, you eliminate multiple roof disposal events across a generation. North Santiam homeowners choosing metal reduce their environmental footprint while gaining durability and zero maintenance. It's a choice that serves both your home and the community.

Is a metal roof a good choice for North Santiam’s climate?

Yes. North Santiam averages about 19 cm of snow, 1166 mm of rain, roughly 37 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 105 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
