Review: September 15, 2023 Completion: May 10, 2023

Originally my house had an aluminum shingle roof by Fin-all. Eleven years later, after an oak tree fell across my house , my insurance company installed a steel shingle roof because they said Fin-all was no longer in business. I was disappointed because I felt the replacement roof was not up to the standard of the aluminum roof that I originally had. Then we had a bad ice storm that broke huge branches from all the trees - sending a large branch spearing through my roof. After failing to be able to find out what kind of roof the insurance company had installed on my house they finally agreed to replace the entire roof again. After much research I finally found Interlock. I found out from Damon that Interlock is actually the company that bought out Fin-all; my original roof! Even though interlock was more expensive than any other estimate I received my insurance company accepted their estimate. All this to say: Interlock is even better than my original roof because they have made improvements on the original design and the quality is obviously better than the steel shingles that were replaced. The Interlock crew chief took the time to explain the differences in manufacturing and installation -Interlock is sturdier and has better texture for a much more appealing look. Both my previous roofs would take damage if walked on but because of the design and texture in these new shingles, they are much sturdier. I am confident that I now have the best roof on the market- and an excellent warranty as well!! Positive: Responsiveness, Quality, Professionalism Services: Roof damage repair, Roof installation

Review: April 26, 1999

Thank You So Much!! The roof that you installed looks so wonderful! I had my doubts as the “typical” aluminum roof looks too barn-like. With the Interlock roof, we got the look I wanted and the durability my husband was looking for. We were very pleased with the installation as it took only a few days, and our yard was neat and clean when completed. This roof is one of the best investments and improvements we have made for our home. We highly recommend the Interlock Aluminum Roof Shakes for anyone interested in investing in their home.

Review: August 15, 2021 Completion: March 26, 2019

Update on my Interlock Roof System. I encourage you to read all of this review, because it has a very important element to it, and it might surprise you.I had the roof installed 2 years ago, & as noted in my original review below, the subcontractor at that time was less than attentive. Turns out, his crew was, too. In late 2020, there was a pretty significant leak into the kitchen from the sola tube, which prompted a repair call. The responses from customer service were a bit iffy, but Ivan (super knowledgeable guy) came out to inspect the leaks. At that time he also investigated the leaking behind the gutters & facia boards that had been happening right from the beginning. Apparently there was excessive condensation happening above and below the waterproofing, & it was a mystery why that was happening. It took two attempts to fix the leak into the kitchen, & a few more inspections to investigate the failing roof. There several visits and emails, & finally, in early 2021, I found it necessary to formally executed a warranty claim on the roof to HQ in Canada. I expected resistance. Here is the great part. Not only did Interlock Roofing take my warranty claim seriously, having Ivan come back yet again & open up a portion of the roof to inspect further; Mr. Yvon Giroux, VP of Installation in Canada, decided to have his best crew come out & completely tear off not only the Interlock Roof, but the asphalt roof underneath it as well, & start from absolute scratch. A fully new installation. To no one's surprise, they found mistakes were done by the first subcontracting crew (who didn't work for Interlock very long that year). I can tell you, the crew that came out last week were top notch. I haven't seen that amount of dedicated hard work in a very long time. It was obvious right from the start this crew was knowledgeable & well polished.I am so impressed with the Interlock Roofing System, the Company, and their integrity! The tear off, any repairs, & full installation was done in 2 days. Right after, we had several days of heavy rain. Not. One. Drip. Anywhere. The roof is even more attractive and beautiful than before. Interlock earned every one of their 5 stars. The roof is amazing, and I am one very satisfied customer.\*\*Original Review\*\*The roof is amazing. It looks great and the neighbors compliment it all the time. Big bonus is I have hardly used my air conditioning at all this year. What Interlock told me appears to be pretty spot on as far as the roof keeping the house cooler during hot weather. And finally, I really enjoy not having to get up on the roof several times a year to maintain it, knowing it is going to outlast me.The company was very gentle with us when we asked to postpone our fall scheduled installation for a few months due to a series of deaths, and as soon as weather permitted in the spring, we had the roof installed. The only thing that I was not thrilled about was when the installers arrived, I found out they were not employed by Interlock, as we were led to believe when we signed the contract last year. Quite honestly, had I known the installation was sub-contracted out, it would have been a deal breaker and I wouldn't have signed the contract. The sub-contractor was often busy with his other business needs and wasn't always on site during the installation. I understand his crew might only work on Interlock installations, but the owner of the contracting business was not solely dedicated to Interlock. He was a really nice guy, but not super attentive to my questions or concerns, which came back to haunt him later. I had requested a customer service follow-up after the installation that took a couple of months to have my concerned addressed fully. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the sub-contractor instead of employees for the install, and the fact the customer service response was pretty slow. In the end, Interlock made good on everything. I still recommend them as a company, and I definitely recommend the roof. Services: Roof inspection, Roof installation, Roof repair

Looks great, unlike the common metal roofs you see.And being aluminum it won't rust out. Recently we had freezing rain which caused some tree limbs to break off and fall from a tree close to our house which demolished one gutter and part of another one, also partially smashing a roof vent ; but the metal roof held up supprisingly well. We also had a forest fire this past summer before putting this roof on that came close.A metal roof is just a little more deterent you can add against such events.5 stars. Damon, the installers, and everyone at interlock were wonderful and easy to work with. THANKS . Positive, Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value, Services: Roof installation

Review: June 15, 2020 Completion: February 26, 2018

We had our roof replaced about 1.5 years ago with Interlock and the experience was amazing. They were easy to schedule, matched their estimate to the cent, helped us find a great financing company, and were ahead of schedule. The whole process from meeting & picking from a great selection to watching them tear down layers of shingles and apply a seamless roof was impressively efficient. It still looks amazing, and we’ve had no problems. I’d highly recommend them & their products. Our house is a ton lighter, easier to maintain and is more efficient to heat & cool. Great product, great selection, and great company overall. Positive Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Value

Excellent product and insulation was also excellent. I would recommend this product as the last roof your house will ever need. The fir needles wash off with a good rain and the slate roof looks just like slate. AAA+++

Review: March 9, 2017 Completion: December 30, 2016

We had a metal roof already, but we wanted a nicer looking metal roof that didn’t stand out in the neighborhood. After seeing the Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems at the Home Improvement Show, we set up an appointment. I had already checked them out on their website, so it wasn’t whether or not we were going to do the roof, rather what style and color did we want. Interlock kept us up to date on when they would be out here. The installers arrived in December 2016 and in two days we had a new roof. They were the most polite workers that we have ever had at the house. They showed us the material they that lay down before the roof goes on it was a very thick underlayment. No wonder our house is 5 degrees warmer and the heater doesn’t come on as much as it did before. They did an excellent job of clean up. You could not even tell that we had anything done outside. A few weeks after the roof was installed Glenn Boss and his boss showed up in person to make sure that everything was right and see if we had any questions. You do not see this level of service anywhere. This year here in the Pacific Northwest we have gotten a record amount of rain. With our old metal roof, it would have been really loud, but with the Interlock Roofing System, we can barely hear it. The only way that we knew it is raining is if we hear it hit the windows or we look outside and see it coming down. We just love our new roof! The house looks so much nicer than it did before with our other metal roof. And we are really enjoying how much warmer our home is now.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sublimity

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sublimity, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sublimity.

Why doesn't aluminum metal roofing rust like steel?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that oxidizes when exposed to moisture. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the underlying metal. This matters in Sublimity's wet climate, where you receive about 1329 mm of rain annually and face roughly 39 freeze-thaw cycles each year. That protective oxide layer regenerates when scratched, meaning your roof stays protected through decades of Oregon weather without the structural degradation steel roofing experiences.

Will hail damage my metal roof in Marion County?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Sublimity experiences occasional severe wind gusts reaching 111 km/h, hail damage remains rare in this region's climate pattern. The aluminum's strength combined with your warranty means you're protected against impact events that would compromise asphalt or wood shingles, with potential insurance premium reductions available in many cases.

How does metal roofing handle Sublimity's heavy rainfall?

The four-way interlocking panel design sheds water continuously, which is essential in your area's 1329 mm annual rainfall. Unlike asphalt shingles, which absorb water over time, aluminum panels are non-porous and direct moisture downward and outward by design. The interlocking seams prevent water from migrating horizontally into the substrate, and the system drains faster than conventional roofing on a steep pitch. Paired with proper installation over solid decking, this design delivers the same leak protection homeowners expect from their roof during Sublimity's frequent wet months.

Does a metal roof help reduce cooling costs in Oregon?

Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers Cool Roof Rating Council-rated finishes with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning the roof reflects heat that asphalt absorbs. While Sublimity's mean temperature of about 12°C and 3054 annual sunshine hours are mild compared to southern climates, the reflective coating reduces unwanted heat gain on warm days and lowers air-conditioning load when you need it. This efficiency works year-round, paying dividends whether you're managing spring heat or summer peaks.

Can I install a metal roof over my existing roof without structural upgrades?

Yes, if you choose the Mediterranean Tile or Shingle profile. The Tile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft — roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile — while the Shingle weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft. These weights are negligible compared to your home's existing framing. Because aluminum is so light, no structural reinforcement is needed, and Interlock panels install directly over most existing roofs, eliminating costly tear-off labor and landfill fees. Your home's frame supports traditional tile easily; it will handle aluminum tile far more comfortably.

Will a metal roof blow off in Sublimity's windstorms?

No, Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Sublimity's typical gusts reach about 111 km/h with occasional extremes, well within this rating. The interlocking design means each panel ties mechanically to its neighbors and the substrate, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. This proven system has protected homes from coastal salt-air environments to Antarctic research stations, so your region's wind patterns present no concern.

What warranty comes with an Interlock metal roof, and how long will it really last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of protection from completion. Additionally, the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish coating carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. Over Sublimity's 39 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 1329 mm rainfall, this combination ensures your roof withstands decades of expansion, contraction, and moisture exposure without the deterioration that affects asphalt shingles or wood after 15-20 years.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate or cedar shake in Sublimity?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles on your page: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile — each with authentic texture and dimension. The profiles are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum and finished with a 30-year-warranted Alunar coating applied to both sides. Whether your Sublimity home's architecture calls for New England charm, timber-lodge character, or Mediterranean elegance, you can match traditional aesthetics while gaining aluminum's lightweight strength, non-rusting durability, and 120 mph wind resistance — benefits slate, shake, or tile cannot deliver.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Aluminum metal roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles — which deteriorate under UV, granule loss, and moisture absorption — or wood shakes that split, curl, and rot in Sublimity's 39 annual freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum is chemically inert and self-healing. The Alunar coating resists chalking and fading for 30 years with no resealing required. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspection is sufficient; you'll never re-roof the asphalt multiple times over the system's life. This simplicity translates to decades of protection with minimal homeowner intervention.

How long does it take to install a metal roof in Marion County?

Installation timeline depends on roof size and complexity, but Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., your local installer since 1997, can advise on your specific project. A key efficiency: because the panels are extraordinarily light and install over existing roofs, tearoff labor is eliminated on most jobs. This reduces overall timeline compared to traditional roofing replacement. Current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, making it an ideal time to schedule. Contact your local installer for a site assessment and timeline estimate tailored to your Sublimity home.
