Review: October 24, 2019 Completion: August 28, 2019

Everyone did a wonderful job. There was a delay in getting started due to the materials needing to be made, bit that couldn't be helped. I did find a few screws left in the grass around my properry, so I would suggest maybe an extra look around the ground for any leftover debris after project completion. I have had an amazing experience working with Interlock and I will be highly recommending this company to anyone who will listen. Keep up the tremendous service!

Review: March 15, 2021

I cannot rave highly enough about the best experience I’ve ever had with a company and their employees. Their professionalism and workmanship were amazing. Interlock Metal Roofing did an exceptional job. The metal roof looks great on my historic house, and I continue to get compliments from the neighbors on how nicely the roof adds the finishing touch to the “1903 old lady. The roofers were incredible, arriving promptly first thing in the morning (7:30 am) and working every day until it was dark (8:30 pm). They would have finished the roof in the two-week period they had scheduled, but to our surprise, it was discovered that they had to remove four roofs installed on top of each other before they could install the new roof. There were no complaints, even though it added two extra work days to their schedule. They obviously left the place better than they found it, and I couldn’t be happier.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Oakridge

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Oakridge, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Oakridge.

How does metal roofing handle Oakridge's heavy snow load and freeze-thaw cycles?

Interlock metal roofing sheds snow efficiently due to its smooth, hard-anodized surface and low friction—critical in a region that averages about 184 cm of snow annually. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels remain stable through approximately 53 freeze-thaw cycles per year because aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when stressed, and the material expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or curling like asphalt or wood. Snow guards are available to manage controlled release, protecting gutters and walkways while preventing ice dams.

Will a metal roof leak in Oakridge's rainy climate?

Oakridge receives roughly 1,153 mm of rain yearly, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a water-shedding system rather than a barrier—each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, channeling water downward and outward. The mechanical interlock system, combined with a solid deck and underlayment rated to code under ICC-ES ESR-1790, eliminates the gaps and fastener holes where asphalt shingles fail. Properly installed over an existing roof, the system has protected homes from coastal salt-air regions to inland valleys without leak-related warranty claims affecting the Guardian warranty coverage.

Why is freeze-thaw durability important for roofing in Lane County?

Oakridge experiences about 53 freeze-thaw cycles per year—a major stress on roofing materials. Asphalt becomes brittle when cold and expands when warm, leading to cracking and granule loss. Aluminum's crystalline structure allows it to flex through temperature swings without fatigue; the 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy maintains its integrity year after year. Combined with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM standards), Interlock panels resist the mechanical wear that shorter-lived roofing materials suffer in freeze-thaw zones.

Can a metal roof withstand Oakridge's winter wind gusts?

Oakridge's typical wind gusts reach about 110 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Each panel locks mechanically to its neighbors on all edges, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. The rigid aluminum panels do not lift, flutter, or separate like asphalt shingles in high wind; the system is designed for exactly the gust patterns this region experiences.

Will an aluminum roof rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum contains no iron—it cannot rust chemically. When exposed to air, aluminum forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, sealing the surface against further oxidation. This is why Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) rather than steel. In Oakridge's cool, wet climate with about 3,171 annual sunshine hours, this passive defense is far more durable than painted steel, which requires ongoing maintenance and will eventually rust through. Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both panel sides adds an extra 30-year warranty against degradation.

Does an aluminum tile roof require structural reinforcement?

No. Interlock Mediterranean Tile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so most homes need no structural upgrades. Slate weighs 0.41 lb/sq ft, Cedar Shingle 0.41 lb/sq ft, and Shake 0.58 lb/sq ft. This light weight lets contractors install Interlock profiles directly over most existing asphalt roofs, avoiding expensive tear-off labor and landfill disposal costs. For a region receiving about 184 cm of snow annually, the low dead load combined with high wind warranty (120 mph) means the roof protects your home without straining the frame.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty really cover?

The Guardian warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next owner for 50 years from completion—a significant advantage if you sell your Oakridge home. This depth of coverage reflects the reality: aluminum cannot rust, the coating is warranted 30 years, and the panels are engineered to last through decades of the region's 53 annual freeze-thaw cycles, heavy snow, and wind gusts to 110 km/h. No asphalt roof offers this protection.

How does the total cost of metal roofing compare to asphalt over 40 years?

Asphalt typically requires replacement every 15-20 years; metal is a one-time install. Over 40 years, two or three asphalt replacements, plus tear-off costs, frequent maintenance, and growing insurance premiums for aging roofs, routinely exceed the installed cost of Interlock. In Oakridge's 1,153 mm annual rainfall and 53 freeze-thaw environment, asphalt degrades faster than in temperate zones. The Guardian non-prorated lifetime warranty and 50-year transferability mean you're buying permanent protection, not a depreciating asset. Current regional promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation.

Can a metal roof resist hail without damage?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This makes aluminum attractive in regions prone to severe weather; many insurers recognize the reduced risk and offer premium discounts. While Oakridge's climate data emphasizes snow and freeze-thaw rather than hail frequency, the Class 4 rating means your roof survives unpredictable severe weather. Asphalt shingles and wood shake are far more vulnerable to impact damage, leading to leaks and accelerated replacement cycles.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, versus asphalt shingles that end up in landfills by the millions of tons annually. An asphalt roof installed over your existing roof still leaves the old shingles to be torn off and hauled away; Interlock installs over existing asphalt, eliminating that waste. The material's durability—lasting through decades of Oakridge's 3,171 annual sunshine hours, 184 cm snow, and 53 freeze-thaw cycles without replacement—means fewer resources consumed over your home's lifetime. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance, further lowering environmental impact.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Oakridge’s climate?

Yes. Oakridge averages about 184 cm of snow, 1153 mm of rain, roughly 53 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 110 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
