Review: May 7, 2016Completion: April 18, 2016

there was rarely anyone who spoke English working at my home. they failed to cover the work in progress during a rain storm and there was significant damage to the interior of my home. they did not clean up very well and there were nails and debris all around the house. it took almost 2 weeks for someone to come out to fix some trim they damaged. I was so excited to contract someone to install the metal roof, however the whole experience caused me to have to do so much clean up inside work inside my house it made me regret my choice.

an agent at my Credit Union indicated that she needed a new roof. I told her about Interlock. I also left information with another friend. Nothing I can think of I love the look of this roof. I love how nothing sticks or "grows" on it ....even the squirrels have a problem running on it!

Even though I have only had my new roof for one week, I don't feel it's too soon to tell you how much I love it. It looks so neat and professional. My neighbors are all going crazy over it! It has made a big hit in my neighborhood. The workers who installed the roof were professional, courteous, hard workers, and extremely neat. Sometimes big home improvements can be very stressful. This was stress-free. Also, I have to say last night it rained so hard, but I did not hear a thing. I can't tell you how happy I am I made this investment, Paul Curtis was a pleasure to work with, a true professional. I would definitely recommend your company and Paul to others. In addition, I had the pleasure of speaking with Paul McAllister. Who was also professional and courteous.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Edgewood

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Edgewood, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Edgewood.

Will a metal roof hold up through Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's non-porous structure actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Unlike asphalt shingles or wood, aluminum doesn't absorb moisture, so ice expansion can't crack or splinter it. Edgewood experiences about 83 freeze-thaw days per year, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) protects against the oxide film damage that salt spray accelerates in those cycles. You're looking at a roof that gets tougher with seasonal swings, not weaker.

How does an Interlock metal roof handle Edgewood's snow load?

Edgewood averages about 76 centimeters of snow annually, and metal roofing sheds it faster than asphalt because the smooth, interlocked panels create less friction and no water pooling. The four-way interlocking system prevents snow from sliding unpredictably; we install snow guards to the spec you need. The Cedar Shingle profile weighs only about 0.41 lb/sq ft—so light that existing roof structures handle it without reinforcement—yet resists the full weight of wet, heavy snow common in your region.

Do the seams on a metal roof leak in heavy rain?

No. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels overlap tightly so water cannot penetrate the seams; think of roof shingles scaled up with zero gaps. Edgewood receives about 1198 mm of rainfall yearly, and the solid deck underneath—installed to code per ESR-1790—plus a proper underlayment means water runs off the panels and drains through the eaves, the same way asphalt roofing does. The warranty covers leakage if you choose to install over an existing roof, so you have peace of mind from day one.

Can an aluminum roof rust in a coastal climate like Rhode Island?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects it from salt air, acid rain, and coastal humidity. Edgewood sits in Newport County near salt spray environments; the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides of every panel (a unique feature) adds a second defense layer against corrosion. Steel roofs require paint maintenance and eventually rust; your aluminum roof requires neither, even in the salty climate New England roofing faces.

Will a metal roof stay on during Edgewood's windstorms?

Yes. The panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), and Edgewood's typical gusts reach about 118 km/h—well within that envelope. The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors so the whole roof system acts as one structure, not individual shingles that can lift and fail. Coastal New England storms are common, and this mechanical interlock means wind pressure can't separate the seams where leaks begin on other roofing types.

Does Interlock metal roofing qualify for hail damage coverage or insurance discounts?

Interlock holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-combustible, impact-resistant material and offer premium reductions; check with your agent about your specific policy. Hail is less common in Edgewood than inland areas, but the durability means you're protected if severe weather does strike, and you may see savings on your annual premium.

What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material guarantee for you—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable: the next owner gets 50 years from completion. This isn't a gimmick; it means Interlock stands behind the roof for your entire ownership and beyond. Installed since 1998 in climates from coastal salt-air to Antarctica, Interlock roofs routinely last 50+ years with zero major repair costs, making it the last roof you'll buy.

Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile—designed to visually replicate heavy clay or concrete tile—weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than the tile it mimics. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is a fraction of what traditional tile demands. Most existing roofs in Edgewood can accept a metal roof directly over the old shingles, saving you tear-off labor and landfill costs while adding a new protective layer.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over 50 years, a metal roof costs less to own. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years, inspection twice yearly, patching, and algae treatment. Interlock's lifetime warranty means no major repairs, no tear-offs, and no landfill fees. The Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading—you won't watch it degrade. With our current promotion (no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation), the math becomes even clearer. One roof purchase for your lifetime beats three asphalt cycles.

Will a metal roof keep my home cooler in summer?

energy-efficient colors reflect more solar heat than asphalt, with initial reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning less heat absorbed and more radiated away. Edgewood receives about 3050 sunshine hours yearly, so every degree you reduce indoor temperature cuts cooling costs. Metal roofing has been Cool Roof Rating Council tested and verified. In summer, when UV is strongest, the reflective finish works hardest; in winter, thermal properties help stabilize interior warmth. The result is measurable energy savings year-round.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Edgewood’s climate?

Yes. Edgewood averages about 76 cm of snow, 1198 mm of rain, roughly 83 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 118 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
