Review: September 5, 2015Completion: August 24, 2015

First of all. On the day of delivery" 8/15/2015, "I called Jeniffer and she told me the delivery truck was on its way. There was no previous notice of delivery. What if I was not home? Or had something to do of importance. This was not considered. Second of all Michael B. spent to much time in my garage inspecting. My brush to my heavy vacuum, went missing. I noticed it immediately after he left. As far as your workers, some smoke to much and where not efficient enough and worked very slow. They took more breaks than work. No one spoke English except one person who was suppose to be in charge. And while the stripping was being done the leader kept leaving and left for hours and the workers were not prepared properly. After two days of stripping my plants where not protected as promised. I yelled at one worker for carelessness. Every morning I was promised they would start work at 7am. They never ever showed up until 11:30am everyday after; except the last day which was day 5. And instead of 7am as promised it was 7:45am. They milked my whole weekend. They started on a Thursday and ended after noon" on Monday. I never got the paperwork for the dumpster which had no permit to be on the street. It would never had fit in my driveway. Michael B. knew this. This is why they chose to work on the weekend so they would not have to pay for the dumpster permit. I had to go and by traffic cone and caution tap to mark off the dumpster and protect my property from traffic. Also the objects used to brake up snow fall were promised on both sides of the main roof. However when the leader came to me and said they where not ordered he only had enough for one side of the house. And that the material that was ordered and not used or not here", would be deducted from the original price. When the material was delivered it was placed inside my garage I did not get a manifest of what was actually purchased. My gutter hangers were re bought because of the mis-care of dismantling and new hooks had to be purchased. They were just snapped off. That did not please me. I did feed them the last day of work to show my kindness. However part of my gardening tools went missing. The clean up looked ok, but after a day of getting my house back I did a clear inspection and found cigarette butts all over the place and nails. They should have been vacuumed up. This was a ruff 5days for such a small project. There promptness to time and duty showed no respect to me as the owner of said property. There was very little communication because it did not make sense to talk to the workers because no one spoke English. What a nightmare. By day 4 I wanted them gone. But I could not interact because my roof's would not have gotten done or finished. One noticeable thing was when they called and said there tire's had gotten slashed and they would be late. On that same day after the repair, the leader went out to Home Depot, 3 miles away and he got another flat and came back after 6pm. Leaving inexperienced workers just standing around smoking cigarettes, lying down on the roof waiting. My neighbors came over to my home and even called me on the phone wondering why or what was wrong. This was not a good day. This set me a day back. I was not happy. No communication and not happy. What a lazy crew. After they left I sent jeniffer a good report and photo's. When I went to get my gardening tool" and found it was missing, all gloves came off and the real truth came out which is now. I was willing to forget and forgive. But sense you asked for this survey, you are getting the truth and "I WILL STAND BY THIS STATEMENT". LIKE OR NOT. And after I sent Jeniffer that invoice for the items purchased by fax (508-660-6918) and phone call 508-660-6665; all I get is CANADA answering service. And no email from [email protected]. I have left messages with InterLock Inc. for Jeniffer with no response. I get very angry when I get no response from a company that I am spending thousands of US Dollars with and they just fall off the grid", because the billing and workers are not connected. It feels almost like a scam. There are still missing pieces to my gutter hangups. All of the hangups were present when they started but not when they finished. And the snow breakup material for the "Main Roof" are only on one side. Yet I paid for all the materials for the whole completion and got only half. I know I signed off on this project. However you have material at my cost that does not belong to you and no material list of deduction paid for and "not received. I trusted you. And you are asking me for a referral? I don't think so. It's only been 8 days since you left. And it took me eight days to do my final inspection of the truth. I left them on there own to lockup after cleaning up. I had to leave on a important matter. It has not rained yet, so I do not know if there will be any leaks. Its a shame when you have only "one person with total experience and the rest have to wait to be told what to do. That's why it took five days to complete the roof's work. What a shame. And what a nightmare for the owner'; "me. I ate the steak. So I have to pay for it. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT REFER ANYONE TO DINE OR EAT AT YOUR TABLE. The garage and home looks good. We'll just wait for the weather to see how well your material and work hold.If there is a problem", YOU WILL BE CALLED. And if there is no proper response, you will get a call for my State Of Rhode Island Governor's Office to your State Governor's Office and State Legislators and State Representatives as non- cooperative, out of state out of country business.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Watchemoket

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Watchemoket, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Watchemoket.

Will a metal roof hold up through Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, making it immune to the corrosion that destroys steel in freeze-thaw climates. Watchemoket experiences about 83 freeze-thaw days annually, plus roughly 76 cm of snow. Unlike asphalt (which becomes brittle in cold) or wood (which splits), aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or warping. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against damage, and the four-way interlocking panels stay watertight through repeated seasonal stress.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice in Watchemoket?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more readily than asphalt because their smooth, hard surface provides less friction for ice to bond. Watchemoket receives about 76 cm of annual snow and 1198 mm of rain, so drainage is critical—Interlock panels are engineered to channel water and melt downward without pooling. Optional snow guards prevent avalanche-like slides if desired. The lightweight design (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural overload, even when snow accumulates, unlike heavy slate or tile that requires reinforcement.

Can a metal roof withstand Watchemoket's nor'easter winds?

Interlock panels resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, well above Watchemoket's typical gust patterns (about 118 km/h). The four-way interlocking design locks each panel on all edges, preventing lift or flutter during coastal storms. Newport County's average daily winds near 19 km/h rarely stress the system, but Atlantic nor'easters are covered. The UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating and wind warranty give you documented performance, not promises—comparable to what insurance companies recognize for premium reduction.

Why doesn't a metal roof rust in coastal Rhode Island?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; salt air triggers aluminum oxide instead, which is self-healing and transparent. Coastal and near-coastal homes (Watchemoket is in Newport County, near Narragansett Bay salt air) traditionally face rust problems with steel roofs. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209) with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon applied to BOTH sides—extra protection against salt-air corrosion. After 26+ years of installations from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations, no rust failures have occurred. This is not marketing; it is material chemistry.

Is a metal roof worth the cost over a typical asphalt roof's life?

Over 40-50 years, metal costs less because you install it once and never replace it, while asphalt requires two or three replacements plus removal and landfill fees. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited (non-prorated) and transferable for 50 years from installation—that's one roof from today onward. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off. Watchemoket's 1198 mm rain and 83 annual freeze-thaw days accelerate asphalt degradation; metal's sealed interlocks and rigid aluminum last the life of your home.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is required because Interlock aluminum weighs 96% less than concrete or clay tile. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—light enough to go over most existing roofs without engineering work. Asphalt typically weighs more per unit area, and traditional slate or tile can demand costly structural upgrades. This lightweight advantage, combined with ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 compliance, means your framing handles the load and installation is faster. Watchemoket contractors can often install over your old roof, cutting labor time and waste.

How does a metal roof handle Watchemoket's roughly 1200 mm of annual rainfall?

Four-way interlocking aluminum panels overlap on all edges, creating a continuous sealed surface that sheds water faster than asphalt. Watchemoket averages 1198 mm of rain per year—heavy and sustained. The interlocking design means no nail holes exposed to the weather (unlike shingle fasteners), and the panels are installed over a solid deck with underlayment, delivering asphalt-like reliability without asphalt's vulnerabilities. After 26+ years in wet coastal climates, the warranty covers leaks, rusting, and water ingress—not just material defects.

Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs or help with energy bills?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat more efficiently than dark asphalt, lowering cooling demand in summer. Thermal emissivity reaches 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), measured and rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Watchemoket receives about 3050 annual sunshine hours—enough to benefit from reflective coatings, especially on south and west exposures. Metal roofs don't absorb and re-radiate heat like asphalt, reducing attic temperature swings and lowering air-conditioning load during warm seasons. Summer cooling savings vary by home size and orientation, but are documented.

What protection does a metal roof offer against hail in Rhode Island?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available, and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Watchemoket's climate record does not emphasize severe hail, the Class 4 rating means your roof is engineered for extreme impact and proves it to insurers. Many carriers recognize UL 2218 Class 4 aluminum roofs as eligible for insurance premium discounts compared to asphalt, which dents and cracks more easily. The non-combustible aluminum (Class A fire available) is a second factor in some policy discounts.

Does Interlock Metal Roofing serve Watchemoket?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region, including Newport County, since 1999. The company manufactures in Delta, BC, and its New England division handles installation, warranty service, and local expertise in Rhode Island's salt air, heavy rainfall (1198 mm/year), and freeze-thaw stress (83 days/year). Scheduling an on-site estimate lets you discuss profile options (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, Mediterranean Tile), current financing (no payments or interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off), and your home's specific exposure and drainage needs.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Watchemoket’s climate?

Yes. Watchemoket averages about 76 cm of snow, 1198 mm of rain, roughly 83 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 118 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
