Review: September 5, 2015 Completion: August 24, 2015

First of all. On the day of delivery" 8/15/2015, "I called Jeniffer and she told me the delivery truck was on its way. There was no previous notice of delivery. What if I was not home? Or had something to do of importance. This was not considered. Second of all Michael B. spent to much time in my garage inspecting. My brush to my heavy vacuum, went missing. I noticed it immediately after he left. As far as your workers, some smoke to much and where not efficient enough and worked very slow. They took more breaks than work. No one spoke English except one person who was suppose to be in charge. And while the stripping was being done the leader kept leaving and left for hours and the workers were not prepared properly. After two days of stripping my plants where not protected as promised. I yelled at one worker for carelessness. Every morning I was promised they would start work at 7am. They never ever showed up until 11:30am everyday after; except the last day which was day 5. And instead of 7am as promised it was 7:45am. They milked my whole weekend. They started on a Thursday and ended after noon" on Monday. I never got the paperwork for the dumpster which had no permit to be on the street. It would never had fit in my driveway. Michael B. knew this. This is why they chose to work on the weekend so they would not have to pay for the dumpster permit. I had to go and by traffic cone and caution tap to mark off the dumpster and protect my property from traffic. Also the objects used to brake up snow fall were promised on both sides of the main roof. However when the leader came to me and said they where not ordered he only had enough for one side of the house. And that the material that was ordered and not used or not here", would be deducted from the original price. When the material was delivered it was placed inside my garage I did not get a manifest of what was actually purchased. My gutter hangers were re bought because of the mis-care of dismantling and new hooks had to be purchased. They were just snapped off. That did not please me. I did feed them the last day of work to show my kindness. However part of my gardening tools went missing. The clean up looked ok, but after a day of getting my house back I did a clear inspection and found cigarette butts all over the place and nails. They should have been vacuumed up. This was a ruff 5days for such a small project. There promptness to time and duty showed no respect to me as the owner of said property. There was very little communication because it did not make sense to talk to the workers because no one spoke English. What a nightmare. By day 4 I wanted them gone. But I could not interact because my roof's would not have gotten done or finished. One noticeable thing was when they called and said there tire's had gotten slashed and they would be late. On that same day after the repair, the leader went out to Home Depot, 3 miles away and he got another flat and came back after 6pm. Leaving inexperienced workers just standing around smoking cigarettes, lying down on the roof waiting. My neighbors came over to my home and even called me on the phone wondering why or what was wrong. This was not a good day. This set me a day back. I was not happy. No communication and not happy. What a lazy crew. After they left I sent jeniffer a good report and photo's. When I went to get my gardening tool" and found it was missing, all gloves came off and the real truth came out which is now. I was willing to forget and forgive. But sense you asked for this survey, you are getting the truth and "I WILL STAND BY THIS STATEMENT". LIKE OR NOT. And after I sent Jeniffer that invoice for the items purchased by fax (508-660-6918) and phone call 508-660-6665; all I get is CANADA answering service. And no email from [email protected]. I have left messages with InterLock Inc. for Jeniffer with no response. I get very angry when I get no response from a company that I am spending thousands of US Dollars with and they just fall off the grid", because the billing and workers are not connected. It feels almost like a scam. There are still missing pieces to my gutter hangups. All of the hangups were present when they started but not when they finished. And the snow breakup material for the "Main Roof" are only on one side. Yet I paid for all the materials for the whole completion and got only half. I know I signed off on this project. However you have material at my cost that does not belong to you and no material list of deduction paid for and "not received. I trusted you. And you are asking me for a referral? I don't think so. It's only been 8 days since you left. And it took me eight days to do my final inspection of the truth. I left them on there own to lockup after cleaning up. I had to leave on a important matter. It has not rained yet, so I do not know if there will be any leaks. Its a shame when you have only "one person with total experience and the rest have to wait to be told what to do. That's why it took five days to complete the roof's work. What a shame. And what a nightmare for the owner'; "me. I ate the steak. So I have to pay for it. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT REFER ANYONE TO DINE OR EAT AT YOUR TABLE. The garage and home looks good. We'll just wait for the weather to see how well your material and work hold.If there is a problem", YOU WILL BE CALLED. And if there is no proper response, you will get a call for my State Of Rhode Island Governor's Office to your State Governor's Office and State Legislators and State Representatives as non- cooperative, out of state out of country business.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in College Hill

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in College Hill, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in College Hill.

Will a metal roof handle Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when stressed by temperature swings, making it ideal for College Hill's roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year. Unlike asphalt shingles that crack and curl under repeated freezing and thawing, aluminum panels expand and contract uniformly without splitting. The four-way interlocking design accommodates movement while the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214) resists the salt-laden moisture that accelerates degradation in coastal New England climates.

How does metal roofing perform under College Hill's snow load?

College Hill receives about 76 cm of snow annually, and metal roofs shed it efficiently—the smooth, hard surface prevents ice dam formation that traps water behind dams on asphalt. Snow doesn't absorb into aluminum as it does into porous materials. Optional snow guards can be installed to manage slides on steeper pitches. The panels' lightweight construction (Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no risk of overload even when wet snow accumulates, and they require no structural reinforcement to handle normal winter conditions in this region.

Can metal roofing withstand College Hill's winter wind gusts?

Yes. Typical gusts in this region reach 118 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress on fasteners. This is why the system maintains its UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating and wind resistance even in coastal New England, where salt-air moisture and gusts combine to stress roofing materials.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum contains no iron—iron is what rusts. When aluminum is exposed to air, a thin oxide layer forms instantly and self-heals if scratched, creating a permanent barrier against corrosion. This makes aluminum ideal for College Hill, where rainfall (1,198 mm/year) and salt-air exposure would accelerate rust on steel or iron-based metals. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, with Alunar 70% PVDF coating applied to both sides for additional salt-air protection—especially valuable in coastal Newport County.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect heat rather than absorb it, with thermal emissivity to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 on Aged Copper Penny. College Hill receives about 3,050 sunshine hours annually—enough for reflective coatings to meaningfully lower cooling demand compared to dark asphalt shingles. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms the energy benefit. While summers here are mild compared to southern climates, the reflective advantage compounds over the roof's 50+ year lifespan, reducing HVAC strain during warm months.

Can my house support metal roofing, or do I need structural work?

No structural reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than real clay or concrete tile—so it can be installed directly over most existing roofs without adding load. Even the heaviest profile weighs far less than the slate, shake, or tile it replicates. This is a key advantage in older College Hill homes where hidden structural capacity is uncertain. The lightweight design also reduces stress on fastening systems over the 50+ year lifespan, lowering long-term failure risk.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Over a 50-year lifespan, aluminum eliminates the cycle of tear-offs and replacements—a typical asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years and ends in the landfill. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited, non-prorated for the original owner and transferable for 50 years to the next, covering material defects including rust, rot, and impact loss. With current financing (no payments or interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation), the per-year cost approaches asphalt while you own only one roof. Recycled aluminum (~95% recyclable) also avoids the environmental and disposal costs of repeated shingle replacement.

Does metal roofing help with hail insurance in Rhode Island?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While College Hill's hail risk is lower than inland regions, the Class 4 rating demonstrates the material's durability against impact from any source (wind debris, fallen branches). Some insurers offer discounts for Class 4 roofing because claims risk is significantly lower than asphalt. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating to confirm potential premium reductions over the roof's 50-year lifespan.

Who installs Interlock roofing in College Hill?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999, giving them deep familiarity with College Hill's climate—about 1,198 mm of rain, 76 cm of snow, and roughly 83 freeze-thaw cycles annually. They understand local building codes, historic district requirements if applicable, and the specific challenges of salt-air exposure in Newport County. The installer's 25+ year track record, combined with Interlock's ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance and Guardian Warranty, ensures your roof meets code and performs reliably. Current promotion: no payments or interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require?

Minimal. Metal roofs require no regular treatment, sealing, or replacement of damaged shingles—tasks that consume time and money with asphalt or wood. Gutters stay cleaner because leaves don't stick or decompose on the hard surface. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning it resists dirt and algae buildup even in College Hill's humid, rainy climate (1,198 mm annually). Occasional inspection after severe weather is prudent, but the four-way interlocking design and aluminum durability mean decades pass between major attention—a major cost advantage versus asphalt shingles that require patching every 5–10 years.
