Review: September 5, 2015 Completion: August 24, 2015

First of all. On the day of delivery" 8/15/2015, "I called Jeniffer and she told me the delivery truck was on its way. There was no previous notice of delivery. What if I was not home? Or had something to do of importance. This was not considered. Second of all Michael B. spent to much time in my garage inspecting. My brush to my heavy vacuum, went missing. I noticed it immediately after he left. As far as your workers, some smoke to much and where not efficient enough and worked very slow. They took more breaks than work. No one spoke English except one person who was suppose to be in charge. And while the stripping was being done the leader kept leaving and left for hours and the workers were not prepared properly. After two days of stripping my plants where not protected as promised. I yelled at one worker for carelessness. Every morning I was promised they would start work at 7am. They never ever showed up until 11:30am everyday after; except the last day which was day 5. And instead of 7am as promised it was 7:45am. They milked my whole weekend. They started on a Thursday and ended after noon" on Monday. I never got the paperwork for the dumpster which had no permit to be on the street. It would never had fit in my driveway. Michael B. knew this. This is why they chose to work on the weekend so they would not have to pay for the dumpster permit. I had to go and by traffic cone and caution tap to mark off the dumpster and protect my property from traffic. Also the objects used to brake up snow fall were promised on both sides of the main roof. However when the leader came to me and said they where not ordered he only had enough for one side of the house. And that the material that was ordered and not used or not here", would be deducted from the original price. When the material was delivered it was placed inside my garage I did not get a manifest of what was actually purchased. My gutter hangers were re bought because of the mis-care of dismantling and new hooks had to be purchased. They were just snapped off. That did not please me. I did feed them the last day of work to show my kindness. However part of my gardening tools went missing. The clean up looked ok, but after a day of getting my house back I did a clear inspection and found cigarette butts all over the place and nails. They should have been vacuumed up. This was a ruff 5days for such a small project. There promptness to time and duty showed no respect to me as the owner of said property. There was very little communication because it did not make sense to talk to the workers because no one spoke English. What a nightmare. By day 4 I wanted them gone. But I could not interact because my roof's would not have gotten done or finished. One noticeable thing was when they called and said there tire's had gotten slashed and they would be late. On that same day after the repair, the leader went out to Home Depot, 3 miles away and he got another flat and came back after 6pm. Leaving inexperienced workers just standing around smoking cigarettes, lying down on the roof waiting. My neighbors came over to my home and even called me on the phone wondering why or what was wrong. This was not a good day. This set me a day back. I was not happy. No communication and not happy. What a lazy crew. After they left I sent jeniffer a good report and photo's. When I went to get my gardening tool" and found it was missing, all gloves came off and the real truth came out which is now. I was willing to forget and forgive. But sense you asked for this survey, you are getting the truth and "I WILL STAND BY THIS STATEMENT". LIKE OR NOT. And after I sent Jeniffer that invoice for the items purchased by fax (508-660-6918) and phone call 508-660-6665; all I get is CANADA answering service. And no email from [email protected]. I have left messages with InterLock Inc. for Jeniffer with no response. I get very angry when I get no response from a company that I am spending thousands of US Dollars with and they just fall off the grid", because the billing and workers are not connected. It feels almost like a scam. There are still missing pieces to my gutter hangups. All of the hangups were present when they started but not when they finished. And the snow breakup material for the "Main Roof" are only on one side. Yet I paid for all the materials for the whole completion and got only half. I know I signed off on this project. However you have material at my cost that does not belong to you and no material list of deduction paid for and "not received. I trusted you. And you are asking me for a referral? I don't think so. It's only been 8 days since you left. And it took me eight days to do my final inspection of the truth. I left them on there own to lockup after cleaning up. I had to leave on a important matter. It has not rained yet, so I do not know if there will be any leaks. Its a shame when you have only "one person with total experience and the rest have to wait to be told what to do. That's why it took five days to complete the roof's work. What a shame. And what a nightmare for the owner'; "me. I ate the steak. So I have to pay for it. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT REFER ANYONE TO DINE OR EAT AT YOUR TABLE. The garage and home looks good. We'll just wait for the weather to see how well your material and work hold.If there is a problem", YOU WILL BE CALLED. And if there is no proper response, you will get a call for my State Of Rhode Island Governor's Office to your State Governor's Office and State Legislators and State Representatives as non- cooperative, out of state out of country business.

We just had the completion of our new roof. We are happy at how professional the job looks, and how the Interlock material gives the house a different look. It's a very good looking rich roof, we love the way the aluminum pieces interlock each other and make the house look so different than the other roofs. Many of the neighbors have stopped to look at the roof all are impressed how good and nice it looks. The workers were professional, hard workers and fast, and they cleaned up every night. We are very happy and pleased with the decision we made. Finally we do not have to worry about the roof any more.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Charles

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Charles, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Charles.

Will a metal roof handle Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Charles experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year, which causes asphalt to crack and wood to split. Aluminum's oxide layer doesn't degrade under temperature swings; it self-heals when scratched. The 3105-H24 alloy used in Interlock panels maintains its structural integrity through thousands of cycles without becoming brittle or developing stress fractures, unlike slate or cedar, which can check and spall in cold climates.

How does Interlock Metal Roofing handle the snow we get in Charles?

Charles averages about 76 cm of snow annually, and metal's smooth, sloped surface naturally sheds it faster than asphalt, reducing ice-dam buildup. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, so wind-driven snow won't penetrate seams. Optional snow guards can be installed to manage slides on steeper pitches. The lightweight design (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural upgrades are needed to handle the seasonal load.

With 1200 mm of rain a year in Charles, will a metal roof leak?

Heavy rain protection comes from the interlocking panel geometry and proper installation over a solid deck with underlayment—the same water-shedding principle as asphalt, but without deterioration. Charles receives about 1198 mm of rain yearly, and metal's flat-to-slope panels direct water downward with no absorption. Because aluminum cannot rust and the Alunar® coating is warranted 30 years against fading, even prolonged wet spells won't weaken seams, fasteners, or the base material.

Can Interlock stand up to nor'easters and coastal wind gusts?

Absolutely. Charles experiences typical gusts around 118 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed per spec. The four-way interlocking design—where each panel hooks to its neighbors—distributes uplift forces across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress at fasteners. This is why Interlock panels are trusted in coastal salt-air environments from Maine to the Antarctic. No individual panel or fastener bears the full force of a gust.

Why won't an aluminum roof rust near the ocean?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron oxide. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the base metal and self-heals when scratched. Even better, Interlock applies the Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating to both sides of each panel, adding a second defensive barrier especially valuable in salt air. This dual protection is why Interlock has installations from coastal New England homes to Antarctic research stations, surviving the harshest corrosive environments without degradation.

Does my house need structural reinforcement for a metal roof?

No. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so structural upgrades are virtually never needed. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is a fraction of what traditional materials demand. This lightweight advantage means Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs without tearing off asphalt, reducing labor time and landfill waste while keeping your attic space intact.

Will hail damage my metal roof, or could it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock carries the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because metal roofs outperform asphalt under impact testing. Charles's weather includes occasional severe storms, and a non-denting, impact-resistant roof is a measurable asset when claims adjusters evaluate risk.

What warranty comes with Interlock, and will it transfer if I sell?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner a 50-year term from completion. That transfer feature is a powerful selling point in Charles's competitive real estate market: buyers know they're getting a roof with decades of remaining protection built in, no surprises.

Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, while asphalt shingles are torn off and trucked to landfills at end of life. Interlock's lightweight design also means it often installs over existing roofs, eliminating that tear-off cycle entirely. Because Charles receives sustained rain (about 1198 mm yearly) and freeze-thaw stress (83 days per year), asphalt roofs degrade faster and require more frequent replacement, multiplying landfill impact. Choosing metal breaks that cycle.

Does Interlock have a local installer in Charles or Newport County?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region since 1999 and covers Charles and the surrounding area. Working with a local, long-established installer means faster response times, familiarity with Rhode Island's weather patterns and building codes, and accountability in your community. Plus, Interlock's current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—making this an ideal time to invest in a last-roof-you'll-ever-buy solution.
