Review: September 5, 2015 Completion: August 24, 2015

First of all. On the day of delivery" 8/15/2015, "I called Jeniffer and she told me the delivery truck was on its way. There was no previous notice of delivery. What if I was not home? Or had something to do of importance. This was not considered. Second of all Michael B. spent to much time in my garage inspecting. My brush to my heavy vacuum, went missing. I noticed it immediately after he left. As far as your workers, some smoke to much and where not efficient enough and worked very slow. They took more breaks than work. No one spoke English except one person who was suppose to be in charge. And while the stripping was being done the leader kept leaving and left for hours and the workers were not prepared properly. After two days of stripping my plants where not protected as promised. I yelled at one worker for carelessness. Every morning I was promised they would start work at 7am. They never ever showed up until 11:30am everyday after; except the last day which was day 5. And instead of 7am as promised it was 7:45am. They milked my whole weekend. They started on a Thursday and ended after noon" on Monday. I never got the paperwork for the dumpster which had no permit to be on the street. It would never had fit in my driveway. Michael B. knew this. This is why they chose to work on the weekend so they would not have to pay for the dumpster permit. I had to go and by traffic cone and caution tap to mark off the dumpster and protect my property from traffic. Also the objects used to brake up snow fall were promised on both sides of the main roof. However when the leader came to me and said they where not ordered he only had enough for one side of the house. And that the material that was ordered and not used or not here", would be deducted from the original price. When the material was delivered it was placed inside my garage I did not get a manifest of what was actually purchased. My gutter hangers were re bought because of the mis-care of dismantling and new hooks had to be purchased. They were just snapped off. That did not please me. I did feed them the last day of work to show my kindness. However part of my gardening tools went missing. The clean up looked ok, but after a day of getting my house back I did a clear inspection and found cigarette butts all over the place and nails. They should have been vacuumed up. This was a ruff 5days for such a small project. There promptness to time and duty showed no respect to me as the owner of said property. There was very little communication because it did not make sense to talk to the workers because no one spoke English. What a nightmare. By day 4 I wanted them gone. But I could not interact because my roof's would not have gotten done or finished. One noticeable thing was when they called and said there tire's had gotten slashed and they would be late. On that same day after the repair, the leader went out to Home Depot, 3 miles away and he got another flat and came back after 6pm. Leaving inexperienced workers just standing around smoking cigarettes, lying down on the roof waiting. My neighbors came over to my home and even called me on the phone wondering why or what was wrong. This was not a good day. This set me a day back. I was not happy. No communication and not happy. What a lazy crew. After they left I sent jeniffer a good report and photo's. When I went to get my gardening tool" and found it was missing, all gloves came off and the real truth came out which is now. I was willing to forget and forgive. But sense you asked for this survey, you are getting the truth and "I WILL STAND BY THIS STATEMENT". LIKE OR NOT. And after I sent Jeniffer that invoice for the items purchased by fax (508-660-6918) and phone call 508-660-6665; all I get is CANADA answering service. And no email from [email protected]. I have left messages with InterLock Inc. for Jeniffer with no response. I get very angry when I get no response from a company that I am spending thousands of US Dollars with and they just fall off the grid", because the billing and workers are not connected. It feels almost like a scam. There are still missing pieces to my gutter hangups. All of the hangups were present when they started but not when they finished. And the snow breakup material for the "Main Roof" are only on one side. Yet I paid for all the materials for the whole completion and got only half. I know I signed off on this project. However you have material at my cost that does not belong to you and no material list of deduction paid for and "not received. I trusted you. And you are asking me for a referral? I don't think so. It's only been 8 days since you left. And it took me eight days to do my final inspection of the truth. I left them on there own to lockup after cleaning up. I had to leave on a important matter. It has not rained yet, so I do not know if there will be any leaks. Its a shame when you have only "one person with total experience and the rest have to wait to be told what to do. That's why it took five days to complete the roof's work. What a shame. And what a nightmare for the owner'; "me. I ate the steak. So I have to pay for it. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT REFER ANYONE TO DINE OR EAT AT YOUR TABLE. The garage and home looks good. We'll just wait for the weather to see how well your material and work hold.If there is a problem", YOU WILL BE CALLED. And if there is no proper response, you will get a call for my State Of Rhode Island Governor's Office to your State Governor's Office and State Legislators and State Representatives as non- cooperative, out of state out of country business.

None that I can think of. I'm so excited to see how the new roof handles heavy snow and storms. So far the skies haven't given me the chance, but I'm looking forward to a Big Storm for the first time in years.

Review: November 12, 2003 Completion: November 12, 2003

We just had the completion of our new roof. We are happy at how professional the job looks, and how the Interlock material gives the house a different look. It's a very good looking rich roof, we love the way the aluminum pieces interlock each other and make the house look so different than the other roofs. Many of the neighbors have stopped to look at the roof all are impressed how good and nice it looks. The workers were professional, hard workers and fast, and they cleaned up every night. We are very happy and pleased with the decision we made. Finally we do not have to worry about the roof any more.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Blackstone

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Blackstone, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Blackstone.

Will a metal roof handle Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's non-porous oxide layer is immune to the expansion and contraction damage that splits asphalt and wood over time. Blackstone experiences about 83 freeze-thaw days per year, a condition that degrades traditional roofing through repeated ice-melt infiltration. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly across its entire surface without cracking, and the four-way interlocking panels accommodate thermal movement without separation. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) protects against salt-laden winter moisture that accelerates corrosion in steel-based products.

How does a metal roof perform under Blackstone's snow load?

Metal roofs shed snow effectively due to their smooth, hard surface and minimal friction—a crucial advantage in a region that averages about 76 cm of snow annually. The light weight of Interlock panels means snow accumulation poses no structural risk; the Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft, so even heavy snow doesn't require additional framing. Optional snow guards can be installed where desired to control runoff. The standing-seam profile is particularly favored in heavy-snow climates for its continuous seams that prevent water from penetrating the roof plane during freeze-thaw cycles.

Can metal roofing handle Blackstone's annual rainfall without leaks?

Yes—Blackstone receives roughly 1198 mm of rain yearly, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to shed water faster than it can pool. Each panel edge overlaps its neighbor; water flows down and out without pooling in seams. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment (not exposed to weather) creates the same drying environment as asphalt, eliminating the myth that metal roofs are noisy in rain. Properly installed per ESR-1790 specifications, Interlock panels have a zero-leak track record from coastal salt-air environments to inland regions—conditions comparable to Rhode Island's maritime climate.

Are metal roofs safe in Blackstone's wind gusts?

Completely safe. Blackstone's typical wind gusts reach about 118 km/h, and Interlock metal roofing carries a warranty to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—beyond what your region typically experiences. The four-way interlocking panel system locks each piece to its neighbors on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof plane rather than concentrating stress on individual fastener points. This mechanical interlock is why the system maintains its integrity in extreme-wind zones; it's been installed in coastal areas where salt spray and sustained gusts are far more severe than inland Rhode Island conditions.

Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust like steel in a salt-air climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron oxide to form. Interlock panels are made from 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), and their natural oxide layer self-heals when scratched, providing lifelong protection. In Blackstone's salt-air influenced climate, this is a decisive advantage over steel roofing, which requires ongoing maintenance to prevent rust bloom and panel degradation. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating applied to both sides of every panel (even surfaces facing the deck) adds 30-year durability against environmental chalking and fading—insurance against the corrosive effects of winter salt spray and 1198 mm of annual moisture.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in Rhode Island?

Yes, and the savings compound year-round. Blackstone enjoys about 3050 hours of annual sunshine, and energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it—initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84 mean less heat enters your home in summer and less escapes in winter. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating documents this efficiency. Over a roof's 40+ year life, reflective coatings reduce HVAC strain during both seasons. Unlike asphalt, which absorbs heat and radiates it into living spaces, metal roofing actively cools the structure—a measurable energy advantage in a climate with wide seasonal temperature swings.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof in Blackstone?

No structural reinforcement is necessary. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—making it installable over most existing roof structures without additional support. This extreme lightness is an engineering advantage in a snow-heavy region like Blackstone, which averages 76 cm annually; the same roof that would add significant dead-load risk with traditional tile creates virtually no structural burden with aluminum. Most homes can transition directly from asphalt to Interlock without framing upgrades, reducing installation costs and timeline complexity while maintaining the authentic appearance of heavier materials.

What's covered under Interlock's warranty for Blackstone homeowners?

The Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—a non-prorated material guarantee for the original owner that ends the cycle of repeated roof replacements. Transferable to one subsequent owner for 50 years from completion, it provides exceptional value in Blackstone's moisture-rich climate (1198 mm rain, 83 freeze-thaw days annually). No other roofing type offers a single, continuous warranty spanning multiple ownership generations. This protection reflects confidence in aluminum's durability under real-world freeze-thaw stress and reflects the product's proven track record since 1998 in climates far harsher than Rhode Island's.

Will hail damage my metal roof in Rhode Island?

Interlock holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 is rarely seen on asphalt or traditional materials; it demonstrates that aluminum's rigidity and flexibility absorb hail impact without cracking or permanent deformation. In regions with hail risk, insurance carriers often offer premium discounts for metal roofing with Class 4 ratings. While Blackstone is not a high-hail zone, this rating ensures your roof will endure any severe weather the Northeast produces without compromise, and the impact durability doesn't degrade over the 30-year coating warranty period or beyond.

How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need?

Essentially none beyond twice-yearly gutter cleaning. Unlike asphalt shingles (which deteriorate and require moss treatment in damp climates), wood shake (which splits and rots in freeze-thaw cycles like Blackstone's 83 annual freeze-thaw days), or clay tile (which cracks and leaks), aluminum panels are inert. Water sheds cleanly; the Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists discoloration and algae growth. The four-way interlocking design eliminates loose fasteners and seam separation that plague other metal roofs. In a region receiving 1198 mm of rain and 76 cm of snow annually, this maintenance-free durability translates directly to lower lifetime ownership costs and zero emergency repairs from weather damage.
