None that I can think of. I'm so excited to see how the new roof handles heavy snow and storms. So far the skies haven't given me the chance, but I'm looking forward to a Big Storm for the first time in years.

Review: November 12, 2003 Completion: November 12, 2003

We just had the completion of our new roof. We are happy at how professional the job looks, and how the Interlock material gives the house a different look. It's a very good looking rich roof, we love the way the aluminum pieces interlock each other and make the house look so different than the other roofs. Many of the neighbors have stopped to look at the roof all are impressed how good and nice it looks. The workers were professional, hard workers and fast, and they cleaned up every night. We are very happy and pleased with the decision we made. Finally we do not have to worry about the roof any more.

Review: September 5, 2015 Completion: August 24, 2015

First of all. On the day of delivery" 8/15/2015, "I called Jeniffer and she told me the delivery truck was on its way. There was no previous notice of delivery. What if I was not home? Or had something to do of importance. This was not considered. Second of all Michael B. spent to much time in my garage inspecting. My brush to my heavy vacuum, went missing. I noticed it immediately after he left. As far as your workers, some smoke to much and where not efficient enough and worked very slow. They took more breaks than work. No one spoke English except one person who was suppose to be in charge. And while the stripping was being done the leader kept leaving and left for hours and the workers were not prepared properly. After two days of stripping my plants where not protected as promised. I yelled at one worker for carelessness. Every morning I was promised they would start work at 7am. They never ever showed up until 11:30am everyday after; except the last day which was day 5. And instead of 7am as promised it was 7:45am. They milked my whole weekend. They started on a Thursday and ended after noon" on Monday. I never got the paperwork for the dumpster which had no permit to be on the street. It would never had fit in my driveway. Michael B. knew this. This is why they chose to work on the weekend so they would not have to pay for the dumpster permit. I had to go and by traffic cone and caution tap to mark off the dumpster and protect my property from traffic. Also the objects used to brake up snow fall were promised on both sides of the main roof. However when the leader came to me and said they where not ordered he only had enough for one side of the house. And that the material that was ordered and not used or not here", would be deducted from the original price. When the material was delivered it was placed inside my garage I did not get a manifest of what was actually purchased. My gutter hangers were re bought because of the mis-care of dismantling and new hooks had to be purchased. They were just snapped off. That did not please me. I did feed them the last day of work to show my kindness. However part of my gardening tools went missing. The clean up looked ok, but after a day of getting my house back I did a clear inspection and found cigarette butts all over the place and nails. They should have been vacuumed up. This was a ruff 5days for such a small project. There promptness to time and duty showed no respect to me as the owner of said property. There was very little communication because it did not make sense to talk to the workers because no one spoke English. What a nightmare. By day 4 I wanted them gone. But I could not interact because my roof's would not have gotten done or finished. One noticeable thing was when they called and said there tire's had gotten slashed and they would be late. On that same day after the repair, the leader went out to Home Depot, 3 miles away and he got another flat and came back after 6pm. Leaving inexperienced workers just standing around smoking cigarettes, lying down on the roof waiting. My neighbors came over to my home and even called me on the phone wondering why or what was wrong. This was not a good day. This set me a day back. I was not happy. No communication and not happy. What a lazy crew. After they left I sent jeniffer a good report and photo's. When I went to get my gardening tool" and found it was missing, all gloves came off and the real truth came out which is now. I was willing to forget and forgive. But sense you asked for this survey, you are getting the truth and "I WILL STAND BY THIS STATEMENT". LIKE OR NOT. And after I sent Jeniffer that invoice for the items purchased by fax (508-660-6918) and phone call 508-660-6665; all I get is CANADA answering service. And no email from [email protected]. I have left messages with InterLock Inc. for Jeniffer with no response. I get very angry when I get no response from a company that I am spending thousands of US Dollars with and they just fall off the grid", because the billing and workers are not connected. It feels almost like a scam. There are still missing pieces to my gutter hangups. All of the hangups were present when they started but not when they finished. And the snow breakup material for the "Main Roof" are only on one side. Yet I paid for all the materials for the whole completion and got only half. I know I signed off on this project. However you have material at my cost that does not belong to you and no material list of deduction paid for and "not received. I trusted you. And you are asking me for a referral? I don't think so. It's only been 8 days since you left. And it took me eight days to do my final inspection of the truth. I left them on there own to lockup after cleaning up. I had to leave on a important matter. It has not rained yet, so I do not know if there will be any leaks. Its a shame when you have only "one person with total experience and the rest have to wait to be told what to do. That's why it took five days to complete the roof's work. What a shame. And what a nightmare for the owner'; "me. I ate the steak. So I have to pay for it. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT REFER ANYONE TO DINE OR EAT AT YOUR TABLE. The garage and home looks good. We'll just wait for the weather to see how well your material and work hold.If there is a problem", YOU WILL BE CALLED. And if there is no proper response, you will get a call for my State Of Rhode Island Governor's Office to your State Governor's Office and State Legislators and State Representatives as non- cooperative, out of state out of country business.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Darlington

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Darlington, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Darlington.

Will metal roofing hold up to Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions like Darlington's ~83 annual cycles. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle in cold and softens in heat, roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum flexes without cracking. The material's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so salt spray and temperature swings won't initiate rust. Over 26+ years of New England winters, homeowners report zero weather-related material failure. Your roof simply expands and contracts safely, year after year.

How does a metal roof handle Darlington's snow load and ice dams?

Metal roofing sheds snow more efficiently than asphalt, reducing ice-dam risk in Darlington's ~76 cm annual snowfall. The smooth surface and tight four-way interlocking panels won't trap moisture where it can refreeze. If you add snow guards, they install instantly to standard brackets. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles offer enough texture to slow dramatic snow slide-off while remaining slippery enough to let melt run off cleanly during the 3050 sunny hours you get yearly.

Can metal roofing really shed heavy rain without leaking in Darlington?

Darlington receives about 1198 mm of annual rain—metal roofing handles that volume without any issue. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels seal so tightly that water is physically directed away from the seam, not through it. You'll get the same leak-free protection as premium asphalt, but without the degradation that wet-dry cycles cause to organic shingles. Installed over a solid deck with underlayment per ESR-1790, your roof remains watertight for 50+ years.

Will my metal roof stay put during Darlington's coastal wind gusts?

Absolutely. Darlington experiences typical gusts up to 118 km/h, and your Interlock roof is warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels physically lock together, preventing lift-off even during the strongest nor'easters. Over 26 years in coastal British Columbia and Antarctic conditions, the system has proven itself against wind and salt spray that would destroy conventional roofing.

Why can't aluminum roofing rust like steel does?

Aluminum contains zero iron—the element that corrodes into rust. When exposed to air, aluminum naturally forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath. If that layer is scratched (say, by installation or a branch), it self-heals within days. Interlock adds a 30-year Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, which is especially critical in salt-air regions. This dual protection means your roof won't weaken chemically, no matter what Rhode Island's weather throws at it.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only ~0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even the heavier Shake (~0.58 lb/sq ft) is negligible compared to traditional materials. This means installation can happen directly over your existing roof in most cases, eliminating costly tear-off and structural work. Your home's framing sees virtually no added load, and your installer can often complete the job faster and cleaner than with heavier alternatives.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Very little. Unlike asphalt shingles that require regular inspection for damage and curling, or wood shakes that split and rot, Interlock aluminum roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Twice-yearly gutter cleaning is your main task; the roof itself doesn't degrade, doesn't need sealing, and doesn't develop moss or algae issues that plague organic materials. Over 1198 mm of annual Darlington rainfall, the smooth interlocking surface stays clean and performs identically year 10 as it did year one.

What warranty comes with Interlock Metal Roofing, and how long will it really last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner with a 50-year term, making it a genuine forever roof. No yearly degradation; no prorating means full coverage for life, not diminishing benefits. Combined with freeze-thaw durability, ~83 annual freeze cycles, and 26+ years of North American field data, Interlock is the last roof you'll buy.

Will hail damage my metal roof, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Because aluminum's strength and non-combustibility reduce claims risk, many insurers offer discounts on metal roofing. After severe weather, your roof looks and performs exactly as before; asphalt shingles, by contrast, show granule loss and weakening that insurers flag. Request a quote from your agent after selecting your profile—the coverage upgrade often pays back installation costs within years.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the life of your home, absolutely. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years; Interlock never requires replacement. At Darlington's rainfall (1198 mm annually) and freeze-thaw stress (83 cycles/year), asphalt degradation accelerates, multiplying tear-off costs and landfill waste. Interlock costs more upfront but is 95% recyclable, eliminates replacement cycles, qualifies for insurance discounts, and transfers with 50-year coverage to the next owner—turning your roof into a financial asset. Current financing offers zero interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making the entry cost manageable.
