None that I can think of. I'm so excited to see how the new roof handles heavy snow and storms. So far the skies haven't given me the chance, but I'm looking forward to a Big Storm for the first time in years.

We just had the completion of our new roof. We are happy at how professional the job looks, and how the Interlock material gives the house a different look. It's a very good looking rich roof, we love the way the aluminum pieces interlock each other and make the house look so different than the other roofs. Many of the neighbors have stopped to look at the roof all are impressed how good and nice it looks. The workers were professional, hard workers and fast, and they cleaned up every night. We are very happy and pleased with the decision we made. Finally we do not have to worry about the roof any more.

Nazar was the Interlock person in charge of the job.He proved himself a knowledgeable, courteous professional. On day, when I was disconcerted because the crew didn't show up, as expected, he was as surprised as I . He gave me his phone number and suggested I phone him should additional problems arise. Nevertheless, that he did not know that the crew failed to report for work, which suggests a lack of communication between the job manager and the crew.

I was very disappointed with the salesperson. We explained to him we are in the process of either staying here or moving. If we were staying, we would be interested in the roof, but if we were moving, we would either not be replacing the roof or we would go with a more standard version. He didn't seem to promote the product at all. I asked a ton of questions and there was no information given, just a price. It may be a good product, but the sales person did not represent the company or the product well.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Valley Falls

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Valley Falls, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Valley Falls.

Will a metal roof handle Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw climates because it has no moisture absorption and expands uniformly without cracking or splitting. Valley Falls experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year, and the Alunar® 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) flexes with thermal movement while the aluminum substrate cannot rot, rust, or degrade from repeated ice and thaw. The four-way interlocking seams shed water before it can pool and refreeze, so ice dams are far less likely than under asphalt shingles.

How does metal roofing perform under heavy snow loads in Valley Falls?

Interlock metal panels are extraordinarily light—the Cedar Shingle profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft—so your existing roof structure handles snow loads easily without reinforcement, even though Valley Falls receives about 76 cm of snow annually. The smooth aluminum surface naturally sheds snow and ice rather than retaining it like asphalt, reducing ice dam formation. Snow guards are available if you want to slow slide-off for aesthetic reasons, but the geometry itself works against dangerous accumulation.

Can metal roofing survive Valley Falls' coastal wind gusts?

Completely. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), and Valley Falls' typical gusts reach about 118 km/h—well within safe margins. The interlocking design creates a unified system where each panel reinforces its neighbors, so the coating and fastener pull and twist together rather than allowing individual panels to lift. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind requirements for your region.

Why is aluminum roofing better than steel for a home near the coast?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When scratched, the aluminum oxide layer self-heals within weeks, creating a new protective barrier. This matters enormously in Valley Falls' coastal salt-air environment; steel roofing corrodes and fails, but Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) remains inert. The Alunar® coating applied to both sides of every panel provides an extra 30-year defense. Interlock has installed successfully from coastal homes to Antarctica—salt air is not a vulnerability.

What's the hail rating on metal roofing, and could it lower insurance costs?

Interlock metal roofing carries the highest available hail rating: UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many homeowners discover their insurers offer discounts when a roof demonstrates Class 4 impact rating, since hail claims drop dramatically. This resilience—combined with the non-combustible aluminum (Class A fire option available)—often qualifies you for broader policy savings. Ask your agent about the UL 2218 Class 4 listing when requesting a quote.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt typically lasts 20–25 years and ends in a landfill tear-off; Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited, non-prorated for the original owner and transferable (50 years to the next owner). Over 50 years, the cost-per-year is lower than replacing asphalt twice. Currently, Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. That removes the financing barrier and makes the value comparison transparent.

What warranty comes with an Interlock metal roof in Valley Falls?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The Alunar® fluorocarbon coating is separately warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. The warranty is one-time transferable to the next owner, extending an additional 50 years from completion. This means your home's future buyer inherits real protection, boosting resale confidence. The warranty backs genuine durability: Interlock has been manufacturing in Delta, BC since 1998.

Can an existing roof structure support metal roofing, or will I need reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, and even the heavier Shake profile weighs roughly 0.58 lb/sq ft. Most homes can install Interlock over their existing roof without any structural work. This is a major advantage over traditional tile and saves thousands in renovation costs. Because Valley Falls receives about 76 cm of snow annually, the lightweight design means your framing safely handles both snow load and the metal roof itself—adding practically nothing to your structure's burden.

Does metal roofing leak more easily than asphalt when it rains hard?

No—properly installed Interlock metal panels shed water faster and more reliably than asphalt. Valley Falls receives about 1198 mm of rain annually, and the four-way interlocking seams create a unified drainage system where water flows directly off rather than pooling. The panels are installed over a solid deck and underlayment (same as asphalt), so sound and water protection are equivalent to or better than traditional shingles. The interlocking design itself prevents wind-driven water from forcing its way under seams, a common asphalt failure mode.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Valley Falls?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served Valley Falls and the Newport County region since 1999. The local team understands Rhode Island's climate—freeze-thaw cycling, coastal salt air, heavy snow, and coastal wind gusts to 118 km/h—and installs to specification so your warranty stays intact. They can walk you through the financing promotion (no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation), answer questions about profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, Mediterranean Tile), and schedule an inspection to assess your current roof structure.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Valley Falls’s climate?

Yes. Valley Falls averages about 76 cm of snow, 1198 mm of rain, roughly 83 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 118 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
