Review: September 5, 2015 Completion: August 24, 2015

First of all. On the day of delivery" 8/15/2015, "I called Jeniffer and she told me the delivery truck was on its way. There was no previous notice of delivery. What if I was not home? Or had something to do of importance. This was not considered. Second of all Michael B. spent to much time in my garage inspecting. My brush to my heavy vacuum, went missing. I noticed it immediately after he left. As far as your workers, some smoke to much and where not efficient enough and worked very slow. They took more breaks than work. No one spoke English except one person who was suppose to be in charge. And while the stripping was being done the leader kept leaving and left for hours and the workers were not prepared properly. After two days of stripping my plants where not protected as promised. I yelled at one worker for carelessness. Every morning I was promised they would start work at 7am. They never ever showed up until 11:30am everyday after; except the last day which was day 5. And instead of 7am as promised it was 7:45am. They milked my whole weekend. They started on a Thursday and ended after noon" on Monday. I never got the paperwork for the dumpster which had no permit to be on the street. It would never had fit in my driveway. Michael B. knew this. This is why they chose to work on the weekend so they would not have to pay for the dumpster permit. I had to go and by traffic cone and caution tap to mark off the dumpster and protect my property from traffic. Also the objects used to brake up snow fall were promised on both sides of the main roof. However when the leader came to me and said they where not ordered he only had enough for one side of the house. And that the material that was ordered and not used or not here", would be deducted from the original price. When the material was delivered it was placed inside my garage I did not get a manifest of what was actually purchased. My gutter hangers were re bought because of the mis-care of dismantling and new hooks had to be purchased. They were just snapped off. That did not please me. I did feed them the last day of work to show my kindness. However part of my gardening tools went missing. The clean up looked ok, but after a day of getting my house back I did a clear inspection and found cigarette butts all over the place and nails. They should have been vacuumed up. This was a ruff 5days for such a small project. There promptness to time and duty showed no respect to me as the owner of said property. There was very little communication because it did not make sense to talk to the workers because no one spoke English. What a nightmare. By day 4 I wanted them gone. But I could not interact because my roof's would not have gotten done or finished. One noticeable thing was when they called and said there tire's had gotten slashed and they would be late. On that same day after the repair, the leader went out to Home Depot, 3 miles away and he got another flat and came back after 6pm. Leaving inexperienced workers just standing around smoking cigarettes, lying down on the roof waiting. My neighbors came over to my home and even called me on the phone wondering why or what was wrong. This was not a good day. This set me a day back. I was not happy. No communication and not happy. What a lazy crew. After they left I sent jeniffer a good report and photo's. When I went to get my gardening tool" and found it was missing, all gloves came off and the real truth came out which is now. I was willing to forget and forgive. But sense you asked for this survey, you are getting the truth and "I WILL STAND BY THIS STATEMENT". LIKE OR NOT. And after I sent Jeniffer that invoice for the items purchased by fax (508-660-6918) and phone call 508-660-6665; all I get is CANADA answering service. And no email from [email protected]. I have left messages with InterLock Inc. for Jeniffer with no response. I get very angry when I get no response from a company that I am spending thousands of US Dollars with and they just fall off the grid", because the billing and workers are not connected. It feels almost like a scam. There are still missing pieces to my gutter hangups. All of the hangups were present when they started but not when they finished. And the snow breakup material for the "Main Roof" are only on one side. Yet I paid for all the materials for the whole completion and got only half. I know I signed off on this project. However you have material at my cost that does not belong to you and no material list of deduction paid for and "not received. I trusted you. And you are asking me for a referral? I don't think so. It's only been 8 days since you left. And it took me eight days to do my final inspection of the truth. I left them on there own to lockup after cleaning up. I had to leave on a important matter. It has not rained yet, so I do not know if there will be any leaks. Its a shame when you have only "one person with total experience and the rest have to wait to be told what to do. That's why it took five days to complete the roof's work. What a shame. And what a nightmare for the owner'; "me. I ate the steak. So I have to pay for it. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT REFER ANYONE TO DINE OR EAT AT YOUR TABLE. The garage and home looks good. We'll just wait for the weather to see how well your material and work hold.If there is a problem", YOU WILL BE CALLED. And if there is no proper response, you will get a call for my State Of Rhode Island Governor's Office to your State Governor's Office and State Legislators and State Representatives as non- cooperative, out of state out of country business.

Review: May 7, 2016 Completion: April 18, 2016

there was rarely anyone who spoke English working at my home. they failed to cover the work in progress during a rain storm and there was significant damage to the interior of my home. they did not clean up very well and there were nails and debris all around the house. it took almost 2 weeks for someone to come out to fix some trim they damaged. I was so excited to contract someone to install the metal roof, however the whole experience caused me to have to do so much clean up inside work inside my house it made me regret my choice.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in East Providence

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in East Providence, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in East Providence.

Will a metal roof handle Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or warping?

Yes — aluminum's crystalline structure and flexibility make it naturally resistant to freeze-thaw damage. East Providence experiences about 83 freeze-thaw days annually, and roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) won't crack, split, or curl the way asphalt, wood, or clay materials do when water penetrates and expands. The Alunar PVDF coating on both panel sides seals moisture out from the start, so ice cycles can't degrade the substrate. Your roof simply expands and contracts without fatigue.

Can a metal roof rust in a New England salt-air environment?

Aluminum cannot rust — it contains no iron, so the electrochemical process that creates rust on steel is impossible. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. Even if you scratch it, the oxide reforms automatically. East Providence's 1198 mm annual rainfall and coastal proximity would devastate steel, but Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years against corrosion) is purpose-built for exactly these conditions — the panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica.

How does a metal roof handle East Providence's annual snowfall and ice buildup?

Aluminum's low friction surface sheds snow and ice more readily than asphalt, reducing ice-dam risk — a critical advantage when you receive about 76 cm of snow per year. The four-way interlocking panel system creates a tight seal that prevents water migration even under heavy melt cycles. Interlock's profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, Standing Seam) are engineered to match standard roof pitch, so snow slides naturally without ponding. If you choose, snow guards can be added to roof edges. The metal's strength means no sag or distortion from snow load, unlike heavier materials.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure to support a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed — that's the real advantage. Interlock's Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and the Tile profile (the heaviest) weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft — roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most East Providence homes can accept these loads over their existing roof framing without modification. Because aluminum is so light, installation is faster and less disruptive, and the reduced dead load actually improves your home's seismic and wind performance. You get the authentic look of slate or tile without foundation stress or reinforcement costs.

Will my metal roof stay secure in Rhode Island's coastal wind gusts?

Yes — Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. East Providence's typical daily-max winds average 19 km/h with gusts reaching about 118 km/h, well within that range. The interlocking system means each panel is mechanically locked to its neighbors in four directions, so there's no uplift pathway even in powerful gusts. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind design loads. You'll have peace of mind knowing your roof won't flutter, lift, or fail under the weather this region regularly produces.

What hail protection does a metal roof offer, and can it lower my insurance?

Interlock achieves the highest available impact rating — UL 2218 Class 4 — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. In East Providence's climate, hail is a known risk, and Class 4 protection often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because metal roofs rarely file damage claims. Aluminum's dent resistance (it absorbs impact without puncturing) combined with the non-combustible Class A fire option means some insurers view metal roofing as a premium risk reduction. Ask your agent about discounts once your roof is installed; many carriers recognize the durability advantage.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Significantly less. Unlike asphalt shingles, which shed granules and require replacement every 15–20 years, or cedar shake, which rots and splits in New England's 83 annual freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum panels are engineered to be maintenance-free. A rinse with a garden hose every few years removes salt deposits and pollen; that's it. No moss treatment, no flashing repair, no seasonal inspections for damage. The Alunar PVDF finish maintains its color and sealing properties over 30 years (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested), so the roof that protects your home in year one will still protect it in year thirty without degradation.

What warranty backs an Interlock metal roof, and how long will it really last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion, which is a significant resale advantage in East Providence's market. Manufactured continuously since 1998 and installed in environments from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station, Interlock panels routinely outlast their owners. With no moving parts, no material degradation, and a sealed aluminum body, you're not buying a roof that needs replacement; you're buying the last roof you'll ever install.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

Yes — Interlock's energy-efficient colors feature thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs. In summer, when East Providence receives about 3050 hours of sunshine annually, a reflective metal roof stays noticeably cooler than dark asphalt, reducing air-conditioning runtime and lowering utility bills. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms this performance independently. Over 30 years, the energy savings compound. While Rhode Island winters are cold, the reflective finish doesn't create heating penalties because metal roofs don't retain daytime heat into the night — your insulation system (not the roof) manages winter heat loss.

Is a metal roof more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?

Absolutely. Interlock's aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, so the roof you install today can become new aircraft, automotive, or building parts in the future — there is no landfill. By contrast, asphalt shingles tear off every 15–20 years and go straight to waste; multiply that across millions of homes, and you see why landfill pressure is enormous. Because metal roofs last 50+ years, you eliminate five asphalt replacements over the same period. Interlock's manufacturing in Delta, BC uses certified processes, and the CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance and lifecycle impact. Choosing metal is choosing to end the asphalt replacement cycle in your home.
