To whom it may concern I would like to commend you on your roofing products, and your choice employees. I recently had my roof replaced by your firm, I have received multiple compliments as to how nice it looks and enhances the appearance of my home. All your employees have been top notch, honest and genuinely helpful. Ross, your salesman, was great. He did not pressure us, we felt that he had our best interest at heart. He pointed out the options and showed us ways that we could reduce the financial impact. The two installers were Ukrainian. I did not get their names, but they were respectful and very business-like. They took their job very seriously and worked sunup to sundown (10 + hours) for the three days they were here. l did not see them take a break during that time. Lastly, Renee in the office was charged with the task of reminding me of the payment schedule, she did so with a great attitude and friendliness. Our experience was very positive. I would recommend your business to anyone looking for a new roof. Our job was accomplished with minimal interruption to our life. Our home was left pretty much as it was found except, we have a new roof. I do not anticipate any problems for the next 50+ years. [modula id="138011"]

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Artic

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Artic, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Artic.

Will a metal roof handle Artic's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's smooth surface sheds snow efficiently, and the four-way interlocking panels resist the expansion and contraction that cracks asphalt during Artic's 20 annual freeze-thaw days. With about 63 cm of snow per year and winter gusts reaching 106 km/h, the panels' UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating protects against hail and falling ice, while the warranty covers snow load performance. The lightweight design (Slate installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, even with snow accumulation.

Does metal roofing leak in heavy rain like Artic gets?

No—Artic receives about 1662 mm of rain annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create overlapped seams that direct water downward; when installed to spec over solid decking and underlayment, they perform identically to asphalt in rain protection. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms water-shedding performance for coastal and wet climates. Aluminum itself never rots or absorbs moisture, so even in Artic's damp conditions, the substrate remains dry and the panels maintain their integrity indefinitely.

Why is aluminum better than steel roofing for a wet climate like Artic?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. In Grays Harbor County's wet climate—averaging 1662 mm rain and 106 km/h winter gusts—this is a major advantage over steel roofing, which requires constant maintenance. Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy is ASTM B209 certified, and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, providing a second protective layer in Artic's moist air.

Can a metal roof survive Artic's winter wind gusts?

Yes—the four-way interlocking design resists wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above Artic's typical winter gusts of 106 km/h. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, creating a unified structure that won't separate or lift. The warranty explicitly covers wind damage when installed to spec. With about 2776 annual sunshine hours and a mean temperature of 10.8°C, Artic's gusty, cool climate is well within the system's rated performance envelope.

Do I need to reinforce my roof framing for a metal roof in Artic?

No structural reinforcement is required. The Interlock Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the heavier Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. In a region that receives about 63 cm of snow annually, this lightweight design is an advantage: less load on aging framing means you can install over most existing asphalt roofs without costly structural work. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms this direct-over-existing installation for most residential applications.

What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian warranty covers the material for the lifetime of the original owner—non-prorated, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years from installation. In a region experiencing 1662 mm rain and 20 freeze-thaw cycles annually, this durability matters: asphalt typically needs replacement in 15–25 years, while aluminum maintains its integrity for decades. Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998, installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station.

What profile options replicate traditional roofing in Artic?

Interlock offers five profiles on this page—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each with the four-way interlocking aluminum construction. All are finished in Alunar 70% PVDF with a 30-year fading warranty, so colors remain true through Artic's 2776 annual sunshine hours and frequent freeze-thaw cycles. The lightweight design means you can achieve the look of slate or tile (which would require structural reinforcement) without the installation complexity or cost. Each profile installs identically, so your choice is purely aesthetic.

Will a metal roof reduce my insurance costs?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 roofing because claims are rare. In Grays Harbor County, where hail accompanies winter gusts up to 106 km/h, this rating demonstrates real durability; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification to discuss potential premium reductions. The aluminum construction means no denting concerns like steel, and impact damage is warranty-covered.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Over the roof's life, aluminum is the more economical choice. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–25 years in Artic's wet climate (1662 mm rain annually), triggering tear-off costs, disposal fees, and reinstallation labor multiple times. The Guardian's lifetime limited warranty, combined with zero maintenance and the ability to install directly over existing roofs, eliminates replacement cycles. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Calculate total cost of ownership—not just day one—and aluminum typically wins by the second replacement cycle.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Artic?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves Artic and the entire region; they've been installing in the Pacific Northwest since 1997. They understand local conditions—the 63 cm annual snowfall, 106 km/h gusts, and 20 freeze-thaw days—and install to spec, which is critical for the 120 mph wind warranty and ICC-ES ESR-1790 code compliance. Reach out to discuss the current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Local expertise ensures your roof performs as engineered.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Artic’s climate?

Yes. Artic averages about 63 cm of snow, 1662 mm of rain, roughly 20 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 106 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
