Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Fuller

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Fuller, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Fuller.

Does a metal roof handle snow loads and ice dams in Fuller's climate?

Yes—aluminum's light weight actually prevents ice-dam buildup better than heavy shingles. Fuller averages about 63 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 20 freeze-thaw days per year, the exact conditions where trapped ice becomes a problem. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed snow and meltwater efficiently because they're engineered to flex under load without pooling water. The aluminum won't warp, rot, or split from repeated freeze-thaw cycles the way wood and asphalt do. Snow guards are available if you need them, but the panel geometry naturally resists the ice-dam formation that plagues traditional roofs in your region.

With 1,662 mm of rain per year in Fuller, how does a metal roof stay watertight?

The four-way interlocking seam design is your first defense against Fuller's wet climate—water cannot flow horizontally across the seams the way it can with shingles. The panels interlock on all four sides, so each panel overlaps its neighbors, forcing water downward rather than allowing it to pool or creep under edges. Proper installation with solid decking and underlayment (we use both) creates the same leak-proof barrier as asphalt, with the added benefit that aluminum won't absorb moisture and rot. After 27 years of installations in the PNW, we've yet to see a leak trace back to the panel system itself—it's always installation or flashing details, which we control.

How does a metal roof perform in hail, and will my insurance company care?

Interlock is rated UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact classification available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That's significantly above typical hail seen in Washington. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer discounts; you should contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and the impact-resistance warranty to explore savings. Fuller's gusts can reach 106 km/h, and hail often travels with severe wind, so a roof that won't dent, split, or lose shingles in those events reduces claim frequency. The non-combustible aluminum also qualifies for Class A fire rating, which some policies reward further. Bring our specs to your insurer—the documentation backs the claim.

Will my metal roof hold up to Fuller's wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Fuller's typical gusts reach 106 km/h, and even extreme events fall well below that threshold. The four-way interlocking design locks panels together so they move as one system rather than flapping or lifting individually. Unlike shingles, which separate and blow off in sustained wind, the seams literally cannot separate—water and wind can't wedge their way between panels. Installation into a solid deck with the correct fastening pattern is what activates the warranty, and that's standard for us. In 27 years of PNW service, wind-related failures are virtually unheard of on properly installed Interlock systems.

Do I need to reinforce my house framing for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed, and that's a major cost and complexity advantage. The Slate profile installs at about 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the heavier Mediterranean Tile is only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Fuller homes built for asphalt shingles (around 2–3 lb/sq ft) can accept Interlock without any framing upgrades. This also means Interlock can install directly over your existing roof in many cases, avoiding a costly tear-off, disposal fees, and landfill impact. That single advantage—no structural work—often saves $3,000–$8,000 on a typical home. It's why lighter materials are so practical in retrofits across the PNW.

What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty actually cover?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That means any defect in materials triggers replacement—not pro-rated partial payment after year 10. The warranty is transferable once; the next owner receives 50 years of protection from completion. In practice, Interlock roofs installed in 1998 are still performing flawlessly today, and the product is engineered to outlast the house. Fuller's 20 freeze-thaw days per year and 63 cm of snow won't degrade aluminum or break a properly installed panel. This is your last roof—the warranty structure proves the manufacturer backs that claim.

Can a metal roof really look like slate, cedar shake, or tile?

Yes—Interlock offers five distinct profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates the three-dimensional texture and shadow lines of the original material without the weight or maintenance burden. Slate and Cedar Shingle are popular in Fuller's architectural vernacular; Shake and Tile suit homes seeking a more refined or Mediterranean presence. Standing Seam appeals to modern designs. The profiles aren't paint-on graphics—they're physically stamped into the aluminum panel, so light and angle create authentic depth. Choose from energy-efficiency colors and standard palettes. You're not pretending to have slate on your roof; you're getting slate's appearance with aluminum's durability, repairability, and no structural strain.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Almost none. Asphalt shingles require inspection every few years, algae removal, flashing repairs, and replacement of curled or cracked shingles—ongoing costs over 15–25 years. Wood shakes demand even more: regular treatments, moss removal, and individual shake replacement. Concrete and clay tile crack and leak around fasteners. Interlock requires a rinse after heavy pollen or salt spray (more relevant in coastal areas) and annual visual inspection for debris in gutters—the same maintenance any roof demands. The aluminum won't split in Fuller's 20 annual freeze-thaw cycles, won't rot in 1,662 mm of rain, and won't curl in the sun. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty means no repainting. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance. It's genuinely the set-and-forget roof.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost when I could install asphalt shingles?

Asphalt costs less initially—roughly $8,000–$12,000 on a mid-sized Fuller home—but lasts 15–25 years. Metal costs more upfront ($18,000–$28,000 depending on profile) yet remains functional 50+ years, often requiring no tear-off or reinforcement over your existing roof. Over that lifespan, one asphalt roof costs you three replacements (tear-off labor, disposal, new materials), plus repair cycles. The current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—collapses the upfront burden. Add in that metal doesn't absorb heat (energy-efficiency colors reflect up to 0.55 solar reflectance) so cooling costs drop slightly, and the transferable 50-year warranty boosts resale appeal, and the equation shifts: metal is genuinely cheaper per year of service. It's the last roof you buy.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Fuller, and how long have they been doing it?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves your area and has been installing in the region since 1997—longer than most roofing contractors have been in business. They understand Fuller's climate: the 1,662 mm of annual rainfall, the 106 km/h gusts, the freeze-thaw cycles, and the maritime conditions. Local experience means they know how to flash valleys for PNW rain, how to secure panels against wind, and how to prep your existing roof for overlay installation. They're factory-authorized, carry the Guardian warranty, and can walk you through the current financing promotion. You're not hiring a roofing salesman passing through; you're working with installers who've been perfecting the job in your exact climate for 27 years.
