Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Rony, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Rony
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Rony, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Rony.
Does metal roofing handle Rony's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes. Rony averages about 63 cm of snow annually and roughly 20 freeze-thaw days, conditions that crack asphalt and wood shingles but leave aluminum unharmed. Aluminum cannot rot, split, or curl as temperatures swing. The four-way interlocking panels shed snow efficiently, and the smooth surface prevents ice damming. Snow guards are available if you want to control slide-off. Unlike traditional materials that degrade under repeated freezing and thawing, aluminum's oxide layer remains stable year after year.
Will a metal roof leak in Rony's rainy climate?
No. Rony receives about 1662 mm of rain annually, and metal roofing is designed to handle it. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed water immediately—there's no absorption like asphalt or wood. Installation over solid decking with underlayment creates a watertight assembly verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 for building code compliance. The panels are fastened on the top side only, so water runs over fasteners rather than through them. Thousands of coastal installations in similar wet climates confirm zero-leak performance when installed to specification.
Why won't an aluminum roof rust in Washington's damp climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When exposed to moisture, aluminum naturally forms a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. In Rony's wet environment—1662 mm rainfall and salt air exposure—this oxide barrier outperforms steel roofs, which corrode over time. Interlock panels are 3105-H24 or 3003-H24 roofing-grade aluminum alloy coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides, warranted 30 years against fading and chalking. This dual-coat protection means your roof stops deteriorating while asphalt oxidizes and wood rots.
How does a metal roof perform in hail, and can it lower my insurance?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because metal roofs don't degrade under impact the way asphalt and wood do. Contact your insurer for your specific premium reduction. In Rony, where gusts reach 106 km/h and weather is variable, the impact resistance combines with 120 mph wind warranty coverage to give you unmatched protection. One inspection rarely needed again.
Can metal roofing stay on during Rony's high winds?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, and Rony's typical gusts average 16 km/h with peaks around 106 km/h—well within that limit. The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, lift and tear under sustained gusts. Metal roofing has been installed on buildings from coastal salt-air zones to an Antarctic research station, proving it handles demanding wind environments far more severe than Rony's typical conditions.
Do I need to reinforce my house to install a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, the heaviest aesthetic option, installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. The Cedar Shingle and Slate profiles weigh even less. This extraordinary lightness means the roof can be installed directly over most existing asphalt shingles without adding load to walls or foundation. Compare that to traditional tile or slate, which require expensive structural upgrades. In Rony, where homes built mid-20th century often have modest framing, aluminum's weight advantage means no costly engineering, no construction delays, just installation.
What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and is the warranty worth it?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you, the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion. That dual-owner protection amplifies resale value because buyers see a roof backed by genuine, long-term coverage. Asphalt roofs typically last 15–20 years and accumulate landfill waste. Metal roofs routinely last 40, 50, or more years in climates like Rony's with 1662 mm rain and 20 freeze-thaw days annually. Non-prorated means you pay nothing if a covered failure occurs—no depreciation schedule, no small-print exclusions.
What architectural styles can metal roofing replicate in Rony homes?
Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam. Each uses four-way interlocking aluminum panels to deliver the visual profile you want while the material handles Rony's 2776 sunshine hours, 63 cm snow, and 1662 mm rain far better than the materials they resemble. Slate mimics stone, Cedar Shingle and Shake evoke wood without rotting, Mediterranean Tile replicates terracotta, and Standing Seam offers clean modern lines. Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists fading over 30 years, so your chosen aesthetic stays true. All five profiles are installed the same way—by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving this region since 1997.
How much does metal roofing cost versus a traditional asphalt roof over time?
Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt but fewer over your lifetime. Asphalt shingles in Rony cost roughly $8,000–$12,000 installed but degrade under repeated freeze-thaw cycles (about 20 per year), heavy rain (1662 mm annually), and UV from 2776 sunshine hours, requiring replacement every 15–20 years. Over 50 years, you'll buy asphalt three times—$24,000–$36,000 total plus tear-off and landfill disposal. Metal roofing costs more initially but lasts 40–50+ years with a non-prorated warranty covering material failure. You'll buy it once. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. That financing bridges the upfront gap while eliminating the replacement treadmill.
What maintenance does a metal roof actually need in Rony?
Almost none. Unlike asphalt, which oxidizes and sheds granules under Rony's 2776 sunshine hours and needs debris cleared annually, metal roofing requires only occasional gutter cleaning. Unlike wood shakes, which rot, split, and require treatment every 3–5 years in damp climates, aluminum never rots or splits—even after 20 freeze-thaw cycles yearly. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Fasteners are sealed at installation and remain sealed. Snow slide rarely damages the roof or gutters because metal sheds snow. Algae and moss won't grow on aluminum like they do on asphalt and wood. Your annual task: clear leaves, inspect gutters, done.
