1. A more professional introductory meeting with the start up install that includes either a salesman or representative. This would include a complete overview of the install, ie.. installer introductions, expectations, timeline, general support to the homeowner. 2. FLASHING END CAP NEEDS TO BE DEVELOPED. I'm willing to discuss further with photos if needed. Would appreciate contact from an influential representative.

I did not like the sales technique. I didn't like how he showed us the pros and cons. I didn't want the huge sales pitch. The visit was long and tedious. Don't let anyone else fall through the cracks either.

Review: May 28, 2007 Completion: May 5, 2007

I recently had an Interlock roof system installed on my home the last week of April 2007. I am extremely pleased with my new roof. It looks awesome. The installers had quite a challenge working around the weather that week. They were only off by about 3 hours from the time they said they would finish. That in itself is remarkable considering the heavy rains they had to contend with. They were hard workers and very polite. They cleaned up their industrial mess as well as some of my own winter mess. My experience with Interlock Industries from the initial phone call, to the sales representative as well as the installers was like working with old friends. I would recommend Interlock Industries and their products to anyone without hesitation. I do not make referrals often, because I feel my word of recommendation is a sacred trust. I rate my experience A+ with Interlock. I know I am going to enjoy my new roof for a long time.

Review: January 6, 2018

The reason I won't be using Interlock is that at my age and the cost of a new Interlock roof system I can't justify putting on a $30K+ roof when I have other home priorities. If I was 20 years younger and still working I wouldn't hesitate putting an Interlock roof system on.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Canterwood

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Canterwood, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Canterwood.

How does a metal roof handle snow and ice in Canterwood's winter climate?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, interlocking aluminum surface prevents the moisture buildup that creates ice dams. Canterwood receives about 33 cm of snow annually over roughly 21 freeze-thaw days, which creates the exact cycle where asphalt roofs trap moisture and leak—aluminum's oxide layer simply won't absorb water. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph, so snow guards work reliably to manage seasonal load. You'll avoid the costly interior damage that happens when ice backs up under traditional shingles.

With Canterwood getting 1280 mm of rain yearly, will a metal roof actually stay dry inside?

Yes—the four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a continuous, overlapping seal that directs water off your roof in heavy rain before it can pool or penetrate seams. The panels themselves cannot absorb water because aluminum is non-porous; water simply runs off rather than soaking in like asphalt. Installed over solid deck with proper underlayment (as specified in ESR-1790), your roof functions identically to the wet-climate systems Interlock has installed for 27 years from coastal British Columbia to Antarctic research stations. Heavy rainfall accelerates water away, not through your home.

Does aluminum roofing rust or corrode in a wet Pacific Northwest climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and deteriorates in steel roofing. Instead, aluminum develops a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, making it ideal for Canterwood's 1280 mm annual rainfall. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured), giving extra defense in salt air and wet conditions. Interlock has been manufacturing these panels since 1998 in Delta, BC—the product simply outlasts the corrosion threat.

Can a metal roof actually reduce cooling costs in a rainy climate like Canterwood?

Yes—energy-efficient colors reflect heat away from your home year-round, even on cloudy days. The aluminum achieves thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 in Aged Copper Penny, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Canterwood receives about 2931 sunshine hours annually; those reflective properties work during every one, keeping attic temperatures lower than asphalt (which absorbs heat and transfers it indoors). Lower attic temperature means your AC runs less in summer and your heating system works more efficiently in winter. Metal's thermal advantage compounds over decades.

Does a metal roof that looks like slate or tile require expensive structural reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than genuine concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without structural modification. Your home's framing never feels the difference. This is a direct advantage in Canterwood where wet winters and 33 cm of snow create real load concerns on older homes; aluminum distributes seasonal weight across the structure without upgrades that would add tens of thousands in cost. You get tile's architectural presence with aluminum's practical weight.

What maintenance does a metal roof actually need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofs need far less: no moss treatment, no nail-popping repairs, no shingle replacement, no gutter clogging from asphalt granules. Interlock's design eliminates the conditions that damage traditional roofs—no trapped moisture, no wood decay, no splitting or curling. In Canterwood's wet climate with 21 freeze-thaw days yearly, asphalt roofs fail from water absorption; wood shakes split from cycling; metal simply sheds. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden compared to conventional materials. Your routine care is occasional gutter cleaning and that's essentially it—the roof itself stays stable for 50+ years.

What makes the Interlock lifetime warranty actually valuable for a 25-year-old house?

The Guardian Warranty is a NON-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for you (the original owner), covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact failure—then transferable one time to the next owner for 50 years from completion. That means if you sell in 10 years, the buyer gets 40 years of coverage with no prorating. You're essentially giving your home a roof that outlasts any financing, any ownership change, and any competing material. In a region where roofs traditionally last 15-20 years before replacement, a transferable 50-year promise transforms your roof from an expense into an asset that adds real value.

How long does installation take, and can I keep my old roof underneath?

Installation typically takes 3-5 days depending on roof size, and yes—the four-way interlocking panels install directly over your existing asphalt roof without tear-off, saving weeks of debris management and labor cost. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and knows Canterwood conditions intimately. No tear-off means no exposure during wet winter weather, no landfill cost, and faster occupancy; your old roof becomes a second weather layer. The process is documented in ICC-ES ESR-1790 (reissued 2025), so your installer follows code-verified steps. You avoid the disruption and cost of the traditional tear-off-to-landfill cycle.

Is a metal roof made of aluminum safe if there's ever a fire in my home?

Aluminum is non-combustible—it will not ignite or spread flames. Interlock offers Class A fire classification (the highest rating) on request because the roofing-grade aluminum alloy simply cannot burn. In a region where heavy rain (1280 mm annually) makes fire less likely than in dry climates, the non-combustibility still matters for your insurance profile and long-term safety. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms compliance with IBC/IRC fire codes, so your roof is rated for the same fire-safety standards as any commercial building. You're eliminating one combustible layer between your family and the outside.

Is aluminum roofing actually better for the environment than tear-off asphalt?

Yes—aluminum is about 95% recyclable and can be melted and reused indefinitely without degradation, whereas asphalt roofs are torn off, sent to landfill, and replaced every 15-20 years. Interlock's manufacturing process in Delta, BC has been running since 1998, and your roof will likely outlast the next two asphalt cycles. By choosing metal, you eliminate years of landfill waste and the truck traffic of repeated replacements. At end of life (in 50+ years), your aluminum roof becomes feedstock for new products rather than permanent waste. It's the only roofing choice that breaks the tear-off cycle entirely.
