Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Glade

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Glade, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Glade.

Will a metal roof handle Glade's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's expansion and contraction characteristics actually work well in freeze-thaw climates. With about 69 freeze-thaw days per year and roughly 24 cm of snow, Glade experiences moderate seasonal stress. Aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 3105-H24) moves predictably and doesn't crack, split, or become brittle the way asphalt, wood, or concrete tile do. The four-way interlocking panel system accommodates thermal movement while staying watertight, and the oxide layer that protects aluminum self-heals when scratched—meaning seasonal ice and thaw won't trigger rust or degradation.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Washington?

No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a protective oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched, making it chemically resistant to moisture year-round. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy, protected further by a two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating warranted 30 years against chalking. In Glade's 241 mm annual rainfall and changeable seasonal conditions, this means no rust stains, no iron oxide bleed, and no corrosion maintenance—just a roof that stays structurally sound.

How does a metal roof perform in Glade's wind gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph, with proven performance in gusts well beyond Glade's typical maximum of about 91 km/h (57 mph). The interlocking geometry distributes wind pressure across the entire roof plane rather than stressing individual fasteners, and the lightweight design (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile) reduces overall wind load on the structure. Even seasonal gusts that would stress heavier roofing remain well within the system's rated capacity.

Does metal roofing save energy in a climate like Glade's?

Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat, with initial reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning less heat enters your home even during Glade's roughly 3455 annual sunshine hours. That reflectivity reduces cooling demand on hot days and lowers your energy bills compared to asphalt, which absorbs and radiates heat. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification backs measurable cooling savings, and over a 50-year roof life, that efficiency compounds into real money—while asphalt typically needs replacement every 15–20 years.

What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available—it even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts on comprehensive coverage, offsetting installation cost over time. Though Glade's climate records don't show extreme hail risk, the guarantee means you're protected against the unexpected impact events that can total asphalt or tile roofs instantly. When your insurer sees that UL 2218 rating, many will reduce premiums, turning durability into immediate savings.

What warranty does Interlock offer, and how long will the roof last?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. For a Glade home that experiences roughly 69 freeze-thaw days annually plus regular moisture, that lifetime promise against material failure means you'll install this roof once and never worry about major replacement. Asphalt roofs typically last 15–20 years; Interlock is engineered to outlast three generations of asphalt.

Is a metal tile roof too heavy for my house's frame?

The opposite: Interlock's aluminum tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means no structural reinforcement is needed, and the roof often installs directly over your existing shingles, avoiding a costly tear-off and saving time. Most homes built in the last 50 years can support this weight without any engineering upgrade. You get the authentic tile appearance without the expense of strengthening beams or trusses, making the install cleaner and faster while preserving your existing roof's insulation value.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Virtually none. Asphalt requires regular maintenance—clearing debris, treating algae growth, checking for deterioration—especially in Glade's 241 mm annual rainfall. Wood shakes split and curl and demand annual inspection and treatment. Aluminum doesn't rot, doesn't split, doesn't require sealing, and sheds debris naturally. The CALGreen-verified design confirms reduced maintenance. In practice, you rinse gutters seasonally and inspect fasteners after severe weather; that's it. Over 50 years, the labor and chemical costs you avoid paying for asphalt maintenance add hundreds or thousands to your savings.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my old roof?

Yes—Interlock installs over most existing roofing (asphalt, wood, even lightweight tile), eliminating the mess and expense of a tear-off. Installation typically takes days rather than weeks, depending on roof size and complexity; the lightweight panels move faster than traditional materials. Working with Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., which has served this region since 1997, you'll get a crew experienced with Glade's weather patterns and local building codes (ESR-1790 compliant). Fast installation means less weather exposure and minimal disruption—you're under warranty and fully protected faster than with any other roofing type.

Is a metal roof fire-safe for homes in Glade?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and available with Class A fire classification—the highest rating for roof fire resistance. Aluminum cannot ignite, doesn't spread flame, and doesn't create toxic smoke. For homeowners concerned about wildfire risk or simply looking for maximum safety, Class A non-combustible roofing provides peace of mind that asphalt shingles (Class A but combustible at high heat) do not. ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with fire codes, and the material's inert nature means your roof won't contribute to fire spread even in extreme conditions.
