Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Levey

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Levey, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Levey.

Will metal roofing hold up through Levey's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum roofing is built for exactly this. Levey averages about 69 freeze-thaw days per year, and aluminum's non-porous structure prevents water from penetrating and cracking the material the way asphalt or wood does. Unlike slate or concrete tile, which can spall and fracture, aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without degradation. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating stays flexible through temperature swings and is warranted 30 years against cracking. Your roof won't develop the stress fractures that plague traditional materials in this climate.

Can aluminum roofing rust or corrode in Washington weather?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—that's the core advantage over steel roofing. Instead, aluminum forms a thin oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched, protecting the metal underneath. With Levey's 241 mm of annual rainfall, traditional corrosion is simply not a concern. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel for extra durability in moisture-heavy climates. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers rusting for the lifetime of the original owner—a guarantee steel roofing cannot match.

How does metal roofing perform in Levey's wind gusts?

Levey's typical gusts reach about 91 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph—33% stronger than your local peak winds. The interlocking design means wind cannot lift or separate individual panels; load distributes across the entire roof. The system is code-compliant under ICC-ES ESR-1790 for high-wind regions. You're not just meeting building code; you're building in a safety margin that keeps your roof secure even in severe events.

Does a metal roof help with insurance costs after hail?

Metal roofing often qualifies for insurance discounts because Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty actually covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-degrading impact resistance and offer premium reductions. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report; insurers understand that aluminum won't lose structural integrity or develop leaks from hail the way asphalt shingles do. Some customers see meaningful savings that offset installation costs over time.

Will a metal roof actually reduce my cooling costs in Levey?

Levey's 3455 sunshine hours annually make energy performance real money. energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance to 0.55 in lighter finishes like Aged Copper Penny. Cool Roof Rating Council rated. In summer months, that reflectance reduces the heat load your air conditioning has to fight. Over a 50-year roof life, cooling savings compound—especially if you choose a reflective color. Metal doesn't store and re-radiate heat into your attic the way dark asphalt does.

Does aluminum roofing need structural reinforcement?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb per square foot—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs over most existing roofs without additional framing. The Slate profile runs 0.41 lb/sq ft and the Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft; compare that to slate's 600+ lb per square foot. Your home's existing structure already carries the load. This weight advantage also means easier, faster installation and no hidden structural costs—you're not paying for roof reinforcement that a traditional tile roof would demand.

How long will an Interlock metal roof last, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once—giving the next owner 50 years from completion—which adds real value at resale. The Alunar coating itself is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Combined with aluminum's inherent durability through Levey's 69 annual freeze-thaw days and 241 mm rainfall, you're looking at a roof that outlasts your mortgage and then some. This is the last roof most homeowners install.

How long does it take to install a metal roof in Levey?

Timeline depends on your roof size and existing conditions, but metal roofing typically installs faster than asphalt tear-off-and-replace because Interlock panels can install directly over your existing roof—no tearoff labor or landfill costs. The four-way interlocking system creates a tight, waterproof seal without the overlapping-shingle method. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served this region since 1997 and schedules installs year-round; Levey's mild winters (about 24 cm snow annually) keep weather delays minimal. The local team can give you a precise timeline after assessing your home.

Are metal roofs actually recycled, or do they end up in landfills?

Aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable and breaks the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that most homes repeat every 15–20 years. When an Interlock roof eventually reaches end-of-life, the aluminum has scrap value and genuine second-life potential; asphalt shingles do not. Over Levey's 3455 annual sunshine hours and decades of exposure, you avoid multiple roof replacements and the waste they generate. If you care about the environmental math—fewer tear-offs, less truck traffic, less landfill burden—metal is the honest choice. One installation, one recycling event, instead of three or four.

Is a metal roof fire-safe for homes in Levey?

Yes. Aluminum is non-combustible and Class A fire-rated when installed to Interlock's specification. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (current through 2025) documents compliance with IBC and IRC fire codes. Unlike wood shake or asphalt shingles, aluminum cannot ignite or carry flame—a significant safety advantage if wildfire risk ever increases in your area. Many fire-conscious homeowners and insurers view this as a genuine benefit, especially as climate patterns shift. CALGreen verification also confirms the roofing meets reduced-maintenance and environmental standards, which often align with building safety objectives.
