Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Mesa, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Mesa
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Mesa, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Mesa.
Will a metal roof hold up to Mesa's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Mesa experiences about 69 freeze-thaw days per year, which is where asphalt shingles crack, curl, and fail. Aluminum expands and contracts smoothly without brittling, and it contains no iron, so moisture trapped in cracks cannot cause rust from the inside out. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both panel sides adds a self-healing oxide layer that seals micro-scratches before freeze cycles can exploit them. You're installing a roof engineered for exactly these conditions.
Why can't aluminum roofs rust like steel roofs do?
Aluminum has no iron in its chemistry—rust simply cannot form. Steel roofs rely on coatings to prevent iron oxide; if that coating fails, rust spreads. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) develops a microscopic oxide layer that self-repairs when scratched, meaning even minor installation marks or hail damage won't become rust entry points. With Mesa's annual 241 mm of rainfall and occasional winter moisture, this material property delivers genuine peace of mind that steel cannot match.
Does a metal roof reduce hail damage risk in Franklin County?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurance companies recognize this durability and offer discounts for Class 4-rated roofs. Mesa's location doesn't put you in a severe hail belt, but when gust winds reach 91 km/h and storm conditions do occur, this non-combustible aluminum panel's proven impact resistance protects both your home and your insurable investment. Ask your agent about metal roof premium reductions.
Can an Interlock metal roof handle Mesa's windstorms?
The four-way interlocking design is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph even under severe conditions. Mesa's typical gusts reach about 91 km/h (57 mph), well within safe limits, and the interlocking system distributes load across the entire roof plane—no individual panel lifts or separates. In the rare event of extreme weather, the tight mechanical bond between panels means your roof stays intact while loose asphalt shingles or wood shakes would fail. Installation to spec is essential; our local team has served the region since 1997 and knows every local wind pattern.
Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal roof?
Not at all. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile—which visually replicates heavy ceramic tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than actual concrete or clay tile. Even asphalt shingles often require structural review when replacing older roofs; Interlock's light weight means most homes can install the roof directly over the existing structure without reinforcement or removal. Mesa homeowners with older homes benefit especially: the low weight preserves your house's integrity while delivering the aesthetic and durability of materials that would require expensive framing upgrades.
Will an Interlock metal roof reduce cooling costs in Mesa?
Cool Roof Rating Council colors on Interlock reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering roof surface temperature in Mesa's 3455 annual sunshine hours. energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning less heat enters your attic during warm months. Over a 50-year roof life, the cumulative cooling savings justify the upfront investment, especially in a climate where your roof faces intense sun exposure about 9.5 hours daily on average. The metal surface reflects; the attic stays cooler.
What does the Guardian Warranty actually cover?
It's a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the failures that end traditional roofs. It transfers once to the next owner with 50 years of coverage from completion, adding real resale value. Combined with Alunar's 30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading (measured to ASTM D4214 and D2244), you're protected through multiple decades of Mesa's 241 mm annual rainfall, 24 cm snow, and 69 freeze-thaw cycles. This is the last roof you buy.
How long does it take to install an Interlock metal roof?
Installation timeline depends on roof size and complexity, but Interlock's lightweight design (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) and four-way interlocking system speed the process compared to traditional materials. In most Mesa homes, installation happens over 1–2 weeks. A major advantage: because the panels weigh so little, they often install directly over your existing roof—no costly tear-off or disposal. Our local team, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has installed thousands of roofs in the region since 1997 and can give you a precise timeline during your consultation.
Is a metal roof really low-maintenance?
Yes. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, or curl like wood or asphalt shingles do, so you skip annual inspections, repairs, and replacement cycles that cost thousands over time. Leaves and debris wash off; gutters stay cleaner because the smooth surface doesn't trap moisture. Mesa's 241 mm of annual rain is enough to keep the roof naturally clean. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish resists fading and chalking for 30 years, meaning your roof looks maintained without effort. This durability is why CALGreen verified Interlock for reduced maintenance requirements.
Are metal roofs actually better for the environment?
Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable—when your roof (in 50+ years) finally needs replacement, the material goes back to the mill, not the landfill. Contrast that with asphalt shingles: millions of tons tear off every year and sit in landfills. You also avoid the lifecycle cost of replacing asphalt every 15–20 years in Mesa's freeze-thaw environment (69 days per year), which means fewer tear-offs, fewer trips, less waste. Aluminum's light weight reduces transport emissions, and energy-efficiency reflectivity cuts cooling-season energy use. One roof, decades of service, then full recycling—that's genuine sustainability.
