Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Waldron

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Waldron, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Waldron.

How does a metal roof handle Waldron's snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum sheds snow and ice effectively because its smooth, interlocking surface prevents the pooling that leads to ice dams—critical in a region that averages 30 cm of snow annually and about 15 freeze-thaw days per year. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance, so wet snow loads and spring wind gusts up to 111 km/h won't compromise the seal. Snow guards are optional if you want controlled shedding, but the aluminum's light weight—the Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft—means no structural upgrades are needed, unlike traditional tile or slate roofing that would demand costly reinforcement.

Will heavy rain in Waldron cause leaks in a metal roof?

Waldron receives about 1015 mm of rain per year, but the four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to channel water downward without pooling or seeping between joints. Each panel overlaps its neighbor in four directions, and installation over a solid deck with underlayment creates the same watertight system as asphalt shingles—without the deterioration. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms code-compliant installation for IBC/IRC wet-weather conditions, and the Guardian Warranty covers any leaks in materials or workmanship for the life of your ownership.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing, and does that matter in Waldron?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal even when scratched. In Waldron's marine-influenced climate—with salt-laden air from the San Juan region and 1015 mm of annual rainfall—this distinction matters significantly. Steel roofing would require constant protective coatings; aluminum's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of the panel and warranted 30 years against fading and chalking. Interlock's roofs operate in coastal salt-air homes and even an Antarctic research station, proving aluminum's corrosion resistance in the harshest conditions.

Does a metal roof stand up to hail, and could it lower my insurance premium?

Interlock metal roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, giving you documented protection against the most severe hail events. Many insurers offer premium discounts for Class 4 roofing, so contact your agent with the UL listing number 33876 and the ESR-1790 evaluation report for approval. In Waldron's climate of about 20 km/h typical winds with gusts to 111 km/h, hail events are less common than in some regions, but the metal roof's proven resilience removes that liability from your home's risk profile.

Can a metal roof actually save money on cooling costs in the Pacific Northwest?

energy-efficient Interlock colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs—an advantage in Waldron's 3119 annual sunshine hours, where summer cooling costs add up. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification quantifies this performance. You won't see a dramatic drop in heating bills during Waldron's cooler months (mean 10.5°C annually), but combined with the metal roof's permanent durability, the energy savings over 50+ years contribute to true lifecycle value. The Guardian Warranty makes this a single investment, not a cycle of replacements.

Do I need to reinforce my roof frame for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock's Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the heaviest profile—Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft—is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means the metal roof installs directly over most existing roof decks without expensive framing upgrades. In Waldron, where freeze-thaw cycles and annual rainfall mean older homes may have weakened supports, the ability to install a lightweight, durable roof over the existing structure is a major economic advantage. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms installation compliance for your region's IBC/IRC codes.

What's the real lifespan and warranty coverage of an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—with no fade in coverage over time. It's also transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of warranty from completion. That's backed by a company manufacturing roofing-grade 3105-H24/3003-H24 aluminum since 1998 in Delta, BC, and installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. In Waldron's wet, temperate climate with 1015 mm annual rain and 30 cm snow, a roof engineered for 50+ years eliminates the cycle of replacements that trap you in 15-25 year asphalt shingle intervals.

How long does installation take, and can the roofer work over my existing roof?

Installation timeline depends on roof size and local conditions, but Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving the region since 1997, can provide a detailed estimate during your consultation. A major advantage: the lightweight aluminum installs over most existing roofs without tear-off, reducing labor time and keeping debris off your property. In Waldron's climate of frequent rain and freeze-thaw cycles, avoiding a full tear-off also means less exposure to weather delays. The installer can secure your timeline and discuss whether removing old roofing makes sense for your home's structure and budget. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation.

Is a metal roof fire-safe, and does Waldron require a certain fire rating?

Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and available in Class A fire rating—the highest classification—because aluminum will not support flame or contribute to fire spread. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report (reissued 2025) confirms code compliance for IBC/IRC jurisdictions. While Waldron's marine climate, 1015 mm annual rainfall, and proximity to water reduce wildfire exposure compared to drier regions, Class A protection is valuable for insurance and resale confidence. Check with your local building department or insurance carrier about specific fire-rating requirements for your property, and Interlock's installer can advise on which profiles and finishes meet local code.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

About 95% of Interlock aluminum roofing is recyclable, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that costs money and environmental burden every 15-25 years. Aluminum's durability—50+ year lifespan with no degradation—means far fewer replacements over the life of your home. Waldron's 1015 mm of annual rainfall accelerates asphalt shingle decay, creating more frequent replacement waste; a permanent metal roof avoids this entirely. The aluminum is manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24/3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) and finished with a durable Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating warranted 30 years against fading. Choose durability, and you choose less landfill impact.
