Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Review: May 17, 2017

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Medina

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Medina, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Medina.

Will a metal roof handle Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so freeze-thaw cycling does not degrade it the way it cracks asphalt or wood. Medina experiences roughly 87 freeze-thaw days per year and about 120 cm of snow. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but the four-way interlocking panels absorb this movement without splitting or curling. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against damage, and the lifetime limited warranty covers cracking and curling—conditions that plague traditional materials in your climate.

Do I need to worry about ice dams or heavy snow on a metal roof?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice faster than asphalt because their smooth, hard surface offers less friction. Medina receives about 120 cm of snow annually and gusts to 95 km/h. The Interlock panels' lightweight design—the Shake profile at just 0.58 lb/sq ft—means no structural reinforcement is needed, even in snow-heavy years. Snow guards are available if you prefer controlled shedding. The hard metal surface itself prevents ice dams; water that would refreeze on asphalt runs straight off.

Can an aluminum roof rust in a Wisconsin climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When exposed to moisture—Medina averages about 790 mm of rain per year—aluminum naturally forms an oxide layer that protects the underlying metal and self-heals when scratched. Steel roofing rusts; aluminum does not. The Alunar coating is applied to both sides of every panel for extra protection in wet climates, and the lifetime limited warranty explicitly covers rusting. Your roof will not develop the brown streaks or structural decay that iron-based metals suffer.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal is more expensive initially but costs less over your home's life because you install it once and keep it. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years; Interlock's lifetime limited warranty covers the original owner indefinitely, with a 50-year transferable term for the next owner. In Medina's wet, freeze-thaw climate with 87 freeze-thaw cycles yearly, asphalt deteriorates faster than in mild regions. When you factor in disposal, labor, and time for multiple replacements, metal becomes the last roof you buy. The warranty is non-prorated—no degrading coverage as the roof ages.

How does a metal roof perform in Wisconsin wind and storms?

Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to spec, and Medina's typical gusts reach 95 km/h (59 mph). The four-way interlocking system locks panels together on all sides, so wind cannot lift or separate them like it can asphalt shingles. The system is engineered for the IBC/IRC codes (verified in ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790, reissued 2025). Unlike shingles that fail by peeling from the edges, Interlock's mechanical interlock distributes wind loads across the entire roof.

Will my insurance company offer discounts for a Class 4 impact-rated metal roof?

Many insurers do offer discounts for UL 2218 Class 4 roofing—the highest impact rating available. Interlock carries this rating and is warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Contact your agent with the UL listing number 33876 and the product's Class 4 certification. Because Wisconsin experiences hail as part of severe summer weather, and because metal roofs significantly reduce claim frequency, insurers recognize the risk reduction. Ask your agent whether you qualify for a discount; the rating often pays for itself in lower premiums over a few years.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal requires far less maintenance than asphalt or wood shake. Asphalt degrades in Medina's 87 annual freeze-thaw cycles and loses granules in rain and UV exposure. Wood splits and rots in your 790 mm of annual rainfall and freeze cycles. Interlock aluminum needs only occasional gutter cleaning and debris removal—no resealing, no replacement of individual shingles, no algae or moss treatment. The Alunar coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Gutters and flashing, not the roof itself, require your attention.

Can you install a metal roof over my existing asphalt shingles?

Yes. Because Interlock panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (the Slate profile), they install directly over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement. The lightweight design—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—means no added stress on your home's framing. Installation is typically faster than tear-off, reducing labor time and debris disposal costs. Interlock Metal Roofing has served this region since 2001 and can assess your deck and advise whether overlay or tear-off is best for your home. Most Medina roofs qualify for direct installation over asphalt.

Will a metal roof help reduce my cooling costs?

energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat instead of absorbing it like asphalt. The Aged Copper Penny finish has initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84. Medina receives about 3,100 hours of sunshine annually; reflective coatings reduce the heat your roof transfers into the attic and living space. This lowers air-conditioning load during summer months and works year-round by preventing thermal buildup. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms the reflectance; the warranty ensures the coating stays effective for 30 years, protecting your energy savings long-term.

Does a metal roof add curb appeal and resale value?

Metal roofing dramatically improves curb appeal because Interlock's five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam—replicate premium materials at a fraction of the weight and maintenance cost. Buyers recognize the durability, low upkeep, and style. The one-time transferable warranty gives the next owner a 50-year term from completion, which is a major selling point. The lightweight design (0.58 lb/sq ft for Shake) requires no costly structural upgrades, making the home more attractive to renovation-conscious buyers. Metal roofs signal a well-maintained, forward-thinking home.
