Review: June 17, 2017Completion: February 17, 2017

I have made, and continuously still make, numerous recommendations to family & friends to install a Interlock roof. And, I have produced pictures on demand that I stored on my smart phone. If possible, I would be appreciative if I could get the drone footage that Jesse had taken after the finishing of the installation. I believe it would be a great selling point coming from a true customer to help propel the Interlock name. There are just a couple areas on the roof that the installation crew could have touched-on during the installation, but overall the roof looks simply amazing. Quality certainly displays the professionalism the installers had put into their work. Since the installation of our new roof, we have received numerous compliments from many of our neighbors that walk around our subdivision, plus a handful of neighbors in the adjoining subdivisions. Many questions have been asked with many answers given. We are definitely happy with our new Interlock roof. We have NOT once questioned or second guessed our decision to install an Interlock roof. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made for re-investing in our home...Thank you, Interlock!

Excellent roof! Looks good! The installers were courteous and professional. Put the tarp all around the house and kept the site very clean. I was impressed with their super service. They bent over backward to please us. The A-Team of Roofing!

Review: April 10, 2017Completion: March 17, 2015

I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: July 31, 2008

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off.

I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we like (love) our new roof. Installation went smoothly, and the crew was extremely nice, especially Jesse and Sal, the ones I talked with the most. Most of all, they cleaned up any messes every night.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: September 24, 2014

We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt.

Review: June 9, 2026Completion: June 10, 2026

Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don't nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn't rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Windsor

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Windsor, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Windsor.

Will an aluminum metal roof handle Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens under freeze-thaw stress, unlike asphalt or wood shingles that crack and curl. Windsor experiences about 84 freeze-thaw days per year across a mean temperature of 9.1°C, conditions that break down traditional roofing through repeated expansion and contraction. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy was tested under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) to withstand these cycles without material degradation. The oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so seasonal movement and temperature swings won't compromise the roof's integrity the way they compromise asphalt or composite materials.

How does Interlock metal roofing perform under heavy snow loads?

The four-way interlocking panels lock snow and ice in place without slipping or shifting, and the extremely light weight—the Slate installs at about 0.41 lb/sq ft—prevents the roof deck from sagging under Windsor's typical 89 cm of annual snowfall. Unlike traditional asphalt, metal won't develop ice dams because the smooth surface, combined with proper ventilation, allows snow to slide off before it melts and refreezes at the eaves. Wind gusts averaging up to 104 km/h in this region won't dislodge panels secured by four-way interlocking mechanics, so snow stays stable during the thaw-and-refreeze cycles common in Dane County.

Is a metal roof really cheaper than replacing asphalt shingles every 15–20 years?

Over a 50-year ownership span, yes—Interlock's lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, 50 years transferable to the next owner) eliminates the cycle of tear-off, disposal, and reinstallation that asphalt demands. Asphalt shingles fail faster in Wisconsin's 84 annual freeze-thaw days and 781 mm rainfall; metal roofs built to ESR-1790 don't. The upfront cost is higher, but you stop paying for new roofs, labor, and landfill disposal. One installed roof becomes the last roof you buy, making the per-year cost of ownership lower than the cumulative cost of two or three asphalt replacements over the same timeframe.

Does an aluminum metal roof reduce insurance costs or handle hail well?

Interlock earns UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available, and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 impact ratings because the roof's non-combustible aluminum and proven durability reduce claim frequency. Wisconsin's hail season, combined with wind gusts up to 104 km/h, makes impact resistance valuable; a Class 4 roof demonstrates to underwriters that the structure can withstand severe weather without damage. Contact your insurer about specific premium reductions, but a documented Class 4 rating on your policy documents will support a conversation with your agent about lower rates.

Can metal roofing stand up to Dane County wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Windsor's typical wind gusts reach 104 km/h, meaning the roof carries a safety margin of nearly 90 km/h above local conditions. The interlocking design transfers wind load across the entire panel assembly, preventing individual panels from lifting or separating during a gust. Insurance and building code compliance (ESR-1790) confirm that correctly installed Interlock roofing won't fail under the wind events that regularly affect Dane County.

Will a reflective metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors reduce solar heat gain, with some finishes offering initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. While Windsor averages about 3089 sunshine hours per year and a cool mean of 9.1°C, summer peak temperatures still drive cooling loads. A reflective metal roof won't eliminate air conditioning costs, but it will lower them by reducing the radiant heat load on your attic and interior. The benefit compounds over decades as asphalt shingles darken and lose reflectance; Interlock's finish maintains its reflective properties for 30 years, warranted against fading.

How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require?

Almost none. Aluminum doesn't rot, rust, split, crack, or curl—the material properties that force homeowners to replace asphalt, wood, or composite shingles every 15–20 years. Interlock is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning seasonal cleaning to remove debris is your only regular task. With 781 mm of rain and 89 cm of snow annually in Windsor, gutters and downspouts do the work of shedding water; the roof itself is inert. No re-roofing, no re-sealing, no replacement. The lifetime limited warranty covers the material against every failure mode that drives maintenance calls, so your costs stay predictable.

Can you install Interlock metal roofing over my existing asphalt shingles?

Yes, in most cases. The extraordinarily light weight—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—means no structural reinforcement is needed. Most residential roof decks support this weight without modification, allowing installation directly over existing asphalt shingles. This eliminates the labor, cost, and landfill impact of a tear-off. A local Interlock installer will assess your deck's condition and confirm suitability; if the existing roof is sound and properly fastened, overlay installation is straightforward and reduces your project timeline significantly.

Will a metal roof improve my home's resale value in Windsor?

Yes. A permanent, non-prorated lifetime limited warranty that transfers to the next owner (50 years from completion) is a tangible asset that buyers value—it signals durability and eliminates the roof replacement risk from their inspection checklist. The five authentic profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, Standing Seam) maintain curb appeal across architectural styles while eliminating the roof replacement conversation. When a buyer sees 89 cm of snow and 84 freeze-thaw days per year in the forecast, knowing the roof carries a lifetime transferable warranty reduces financial uncertainty. That assurance, backed by 27 years of installation history and ICC-ES validation, translates into buyer confidence and resale premium.

Who installs Interlock roofing in the Windsor area?

Interlock Metal Roofing, the company that manufactures these panels in Delta, BC, has served the Windsor region directly since 2001. That means your installer is the same entity responsible for the product, with 27 years of experience installing metal roofing across North America—from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. Local installation ensures compliance with Wisconsin building codes (ESR-1790), proper four-way interlocking geometry, and correct fastening for 120 mph wind resistance. A local installer also stands behind warranty claims and knows Dane County's specific weather challenges: the 781 mm rainfall, 104 km/h gusts, and 84 freeze-thaw days per year.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Windsor’s climate?

Yes. Windsor averages about 89 cm of snow, 781 mm of rain, roughly 84 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 104 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
