Review: June 17, 2017Completion: February 17, 2017

I have made, and continuously still make, numerous recommendations to family & friends to install a Interlock roof. And, I have produced pictures on demand that I stored on my smart phone. If possible, I would be appreciative if I could get the drone footage that Jesse had taken after the finishing of the installation. I believe it would be a great selling point coming from a true customer to help propel the Interlock name. There are just a couple areas on the roof that the installation crew could have touched-on during the installation, but overall the roof looks simply amazing. Quality certainly displays the professionalism the installers had put into their work. Since the installation of our new roof, we have received numerous compliments from many of our neighbors that walk around our subdivision, plus a handful of neighbors in the adjoining subdivisions. Many questions have been asked with many answers given. We are definitely happy with our new Interlock roof. We have NOT once questioned or second guessed our decision to install an Interlock roof. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made for re-investing in our home...Thank you, Interlock!

Excellent roof! Looks good! The installers were courteous and professional. Put the tarp all around the house and kept the site very clean. I was impressed with their super service. They bent over backward to please us. The A-Team of Roofing!

Review: April 10, 2017Completion: March 17, 2015

I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: July 31, 2008

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off.

I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we like (love) our new roof. Installation went smoothly, and the crew was extremely nice, especially Jesse and Sal, the ones I talked with the most. Most of all, they cleaned up any messes every night.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: September 24, 2014

We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt.

Review: June 9, 2026Completion: June 10, 2026

Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don't nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn't rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Waunakee

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Waunakee, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Waunakee.

How does a metal roof handle Waunakee's annual snowfall and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, and the four-way interlocking panels prevent water infiltration even during Wisconsin's typical 89 cm annual snowfall and 84 freeze-thaw days. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade under repeated freezing and thawing, aluminum panels have no wood fiber or bitumen to absorb moisture and crack. Snow guards are available if you prefer managed snow release. The lightweight construction at 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft means zero structural reinforcement needed, even when snow accumulates.

Will a metal roof stay secure in Waunakee's wind and storm gusts?

The four-way interlocking design is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above Waunakee's typical gusts of 104 km/h (65 mph). Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, creating a unified system rather than individual shingles that lift and fail. The UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating demonstrates the same impact-resistance engineering that makes the roof windproof. When installed to specification, the mechanical lock system distributes wind loads across the entire roof surface, not just fasteners.

Why doesn't freeze-thaw cycling damage aluminum roofing the way it damages asphalt?

Asphalt absorbs water into its bitumen and shingle fiber; Wisconsin's 84 annual freeze-thaw days cause this trapped moisture to expand and contract, cracking the shingle. Aluminum is non-porous—water cannot be absorbed into the material itself. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish protects both panel sides, and the oxide layer on bare aluminum is self-healing when scratched. Over decades of Wisconsin winters, asphalt becomes brittle and splits; aluminum panels retain their mechanical integrity and reflectivity, even under the region's typical 9.1°C mean temperature and wet snow conditions.

Can a metal roof withstand hail, and will my homeowner's insurance notice?

Interlock roofing carries UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the Guardian Warranty covers hail perforation from stones up to 1.5 inches. Your insurer will recognize this non-destructible material and may offer premium reductions. In regions with hail history, metal roofing often qualifies for discounts because claims are extremely rare. Aluminum's lightweight profile (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) won't crack under impact the way heavy slate or clay tile can; instead, the material absorbs and disperses the force. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification and ESR-1790 code-compliance report.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need in Wisconsin?

Interlock metal roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance and requires far less than asphalt, wood, or tile. You won't reseal, restain, or replace individual pieces; the Alunar 70% PVDF finish resists fading and chalking (warranted 30 years), so repainting isn't needed. Gutters and downspouts require normal cleaning with about 781 mm of annual Waunakee rainfall. Snow removal may be desired for aesthetics but isn't necessary for roof integrity, unlike asphalt shingles that degrade under heavy snow. The smooth surface sheds leaves and debris naturally, and periodic visual inspections suffice for a 50+ year roof lifespan.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt in the long run?

Metal roofing costs more initially but is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years in Wisconsin's harsh freeze-thaw environment (84 days annually), requiring costly replacement twice in a 50-year period. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty to the original owner means no replacement costs for your tenure; transfer the one-time transferable warranty to your next owner for 50 years from completion. Add zero maintenance costs, no resealing or restaining, and avoided tear-off/landfill expenses, and the total cost of ownership favors metal by tens of thousands of dollars. You also gain energy savings from energy-efficiency reflective colors (up to 0.55 solar reflectance) that reduce cooling costs across Waunakee's 3089 annual sunshine hours.

Will an aluminum roof help lower my cooling and heating costs in Wisconsin?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing summer cooling demand. The Aged Copper Penny color achieves 0.55 initial solar reflectance and 0.84 thermal emissivity, reflecting solar radiation rather than trapping it. In Wisconsin's climate with 3089 annual sunshine hours and mean temperature 9.1°C, summer cooling savings are moderate but meaningful over decades. Winter heating is unaffected—the roof isn't your primary insulation layer. The real long-term value is consistency: asphalt's reflectivity degrading after 5–10 years means cooling performance gets worse; Alunar's 30-year warranty against fading means your energy performance remains stable.

Can my home's structure handle a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?

Interlock metal roofing is extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. In fact, the lightweight design often allows installation directly over your existing roof, eliminating costly tear-off labor and avoiding landfill waste. The ESR-1790 code-compliance report confirms suitability on existing framing. Because aluminum weighs so little compared to traditional heavy materials, older and newer Waunakee homes can upgrade to a 50+ year metal roof without engineering upgrades or foundation concerns. This ease of installation also means faster project completion with less disruption.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and Interlock panels can be reclaimed and reused at end of life instead of joining the asphalt tear-off cycle to the landfill. Asphalt shingles, containing bitumen and fiberglass, are rarely recycled and represent a significant waste stream. Wisconsin's 781 mm annual rainfall and harsh weather mean asphalt replacement every 15–20 years; each cycle tears off old material and sends it to waste. Interlock's 50+ year lifespan (including the transferable warranty term) dramatically reduces replacement frequency and material waste over generations. The aluminum itself is sourced from recycled content and remains infinitely recyclable without degradation, making it a genuinely circular material choice for environmentally conscious homeowners in Dane County.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Waunakee, and how long have they been doing this?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Waunakee and Dane County region since 2001, bringing over two decades of local expertise to Wisconsin's demanding climate. They understand Waunakee's 89 cm annual snowfall, 104 km/h wind gusts, and 84 freeze-thaw days, ensuring installations are optimized for your specific conditions. The installer holds the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report and follows all Wisconsin code requirements. Because they're local and have been here since 2001, they're familiar with typical Dane County home construction and can advise whether your roof can be installed over existing shingles or requires tear-off. Local service also means faster warranty response and ongoing support.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Waunakee’s climate?

Yes. Waunakee averages about 89 cm of snow, 781 mm of rain, roughly 84 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 104 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
