I had another roofer prepare the roof deck and put high temp ice & water shield over my whole roof deck ahead of time - a requirement because of my solar panels (and also I think it's a good idea anyway). One of my emails had gone to their junk folder, so I never got a response. My concern is that the company would supply ladders for their employees. Their ladder was shaky. Whether they are employees or contractors, the company should provide that. That is not on the contractor. But it is a concern for their safety. It is not that they did anything wrong.

You should check for nails the same day the old roofing material is removed. I had to buy a magnet roller to do this because they did not being one with them. Mainly because I have an in-ground pool and worried about nails falling into the pool.

Before installation my neighbour was skeptical, mentioning that leaks would be difficult to detect if they developed. However he changed his mind after completion, when it was pointed out that 4 of the 6 days required for installation was spent prepping the roof surface (virtually insuring no future leakage) then 2 days actually laying the tiles. If anyone wants a recommendation I would be happy to comply.
