| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |

What our customers are saying:
Our experience with everyone of the company and the project manager, Bruce was nothing but pleasant! My wife has never commented on any projects that we undertook so positively for our home but she was so very much impressed by how responsive Bruce was when she had any concerns over the duration of the project! The roof installation is pretty much completed except some minor deficiencies at this time! We have nothing but positive feedbacks and compliments from our neighbours and friends! Positive: Responsiveness, Quality, Professionalism Services: Roof installation
Wonderful experience from the first moment I called interlock roofing. Bruce was absolutely a pleasure. He helped us when we had a roof leak and hired a company that we ended up firing on the first day. Bruce gave us extensive lists of homes to go view their work and roof colors so we could see how they looked. They were absolutely beautiful. Every color was very nice. We even spoke to a customer at a home that was outside one of the addresses and she had hers done 2 years prior and was so pleased. She knew we would be happy to.so we chose our color and went ahead with the down payment. Within weeks we were told the product was in and would be there to install the following day. Day 1 was wonderful the workers took off all the old shingles and corrected the leaking areas by replacing rotten plywood. Within 5 days everything was complete and couldn't be happier. No more leaking roof. And a beautiful color to top it. We are so pleased with Bruce for everything he did for us. And for his time and checking in during installation and after that we were happy !!. Highly recommend Bruce. And thank you also to Moses and his crew for their great work 👏 👍
Very happy with our interlock roof. The sales person was very knowledgeable and the installers did a great job! Services: Roof installation
After discovering that a raccoon had literally chewed through our roof, we contacted Interlock Metal Roofing. Can’t say enough great things about Brad. Honest, hard working and knowledgeable. Our previous asphalt roof was not too old, but sadly, poor quality and workmanship is the reason why the raccoon chewed through it. Brad, showed us pictures of the damage, and walk us through the process. His knowledge and overall professionalism made us feel at ease, knowing we will have a quality roof we will never have to worry about again! Thank you so much Brad and Interlock metal roofing! We highly recommend!
I had our new aluminum shingle roof slate colour installed during the beginning of 2020. Bruce Mehuys our sales person was very knowlegable and professional. Even though their pricing is higher than steel roofing. Their aluminum shingles was superior and overall costs long term was much better. Our installer Tony did an amazing job. After a year of installation during a major wind storm we had one shingle come off as it wasn't screw in, however after calling warranty service the shingle was repaired very quickly and no hassles. I would highly recommend Interlock Metal roofing. They do stand behind their product. Positive: Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value Services: Roof installation
The roof was installed in 2000 by the previous owner. We had an issue were a couple of the shingles on the peak came off in very high winds, and was fixed quickly. No problems since then (almost 2 years ago now). Also, we removed a chimney for a fireplace (also installed by the previous owner), and needed the resulting hole patched. This was done very nicely and for a reasonable cost. Thank you!
Love my new roof, so do the neighbors. Great product and fast and friendly service. Best of all is knowing this is the last roof I will need. Positive: Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value Services: Roof installation
We are the talk of our neighbourhood. Our house now has the best-looking roof on our street, and we are proud of it. Chris and Paul, who worked on the roof, were extremely efficient, knowledgeable, and professional. What a great representation of your company standards. They kept us informed of their progress, worked endlessly and constantly cleaned up after themselves. Job well done!!! Many of our neighbours came out to watch and were impressed with the workmanship and style of the Interlock roof. Hopefully, other homeowners will realize the benefits of having this type of roofing system. Our biggest concern was the noise level when it was raining. Our concern was put to ease the other night because we had a rainstorm, and we could barely hear the raindrops on the roof. We can now sleep peacefully knowing we have a strong, quiet, maintenance-free roof. Thank you, Interlock! Wayne and Sandi Stirling Hamilton, Ontario
LOOKS – LOOKS – LOOKS GREAT!!! We just wanted to say the roof really looks great. The reason we are writing this letter is to let you know how pleased we were with your workmen. They did a fantastic job on the roof as well as cleaning up after themselves each day. Please extend our thanks to them for a really professional job well done.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Fonthill
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Fonthill, Ontario. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Fonthill.
Will a metal roof handle Fonthill's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or deteriorating?
Yes—aluminum's crystalline structure actually improves with temperature cycling. Fonthill experiences roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year, and unlike asphalt (which becomes brittle in cold) or wood shake (which splits when ice forms in grain), roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy remains ductile through repeated expansion and contraction. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating bonds to the metal rather than the surface, so it won't crack as temperatures swing between freezing nights and thawing days. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal winters to Antarctic research stations without freeze-thaw failure.
How does a metal roof perform under Fonthill's heavy snow load?
Metal roofing handles snow exceptionally well because of its weight and ice-shedding properties. Fonthill averages about 97 cm of snow annually, but the real advantage isn't just surviving the load—it's preventing ice dams. The smooth four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed melting snow more readily than rough asphalt, reducing the trapped ice that damages gutters and causes interior leaks. At just 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile, Interlock panels are so light that no structural reinforcement is needed, even over existing roofs. Snow guards can be added if preferred for aesthetic or safety reasons on steeper pitches.
Why does an aluminum roof never rust, and why does that matter in Ontario?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and degrades in wet climates. Instead, aluminum forms a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. Fonthill receives about 856 mm of rain yearly plus 97 cm of snow, so exposure to moisture is constant. This is why Interlock applies its Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish to both sides of every panel: the coating provides a second barrier in salt air or heavy precipitation, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244). Steel roofing, by contrast, rusts from the inside out once the finish is breached—a problem metal roofs engineered from aluminum simply avoid.
Can a metal roof stay secure during Fonthill's worst wind gusts?
The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so tightly that wind simply cannot separate them. Fonthill's typical wind gusts reach about 113 km/h, and Interlock roofs are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—well beyond local extremes. The four-way locking system (not fasteners alone) transfers lateral forces across the entire roof plane, distributing stress rather than concentrating it at attachment points. This redundancy is verified in ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 (current 2025 reissue). When severe spring or fall storms bring gusts that make asphalt shingles lift and tear, a properly installed metal roof remains immobile.
Is a metal roof truly hail-proof, and will my insurance company notice?
True hail-proof is impossible, but Interlock achieves the highest available impact rating: UL 2218 Class 4, which means it withstands impacts from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Your insurance company will definitely notice—many insurers offer discounts on metal roofs with this rating because claims are so rare. In Fonthill's climate of about 3000 sunshine hours and moderate hail frequency, the difference between a metal roof and asphalt is stark: asphalt dents and bruises easily, requiring cosmetic repairs or full replacement; aluminum's hardness and flexibility mean it springs back. The warranty even covers perforation from hail up to 1.5 inches, giving you peace of mind during summer thunderstorm season.
Will a reflective metal roof actually reduce my cooling costs in Ontario?
Metal roofs with cool coatings stay noticeably cooler than asphalt, cutting air conditioning load in summer and reducing your carbon footprint year-round. Interlock's energy-efficient colors include options with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning they reflect the heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Over Fonthill's roughly 3000 annual sunshine hours, even a modest 3–5°F reduction in roof surface temperature compounds into measurable cooling savings. In winter, the reflective properties don't hurt heating (snow cover dominates anyway), and in shoulder seasons, lower peak temperatures mean less stress on HVAC equipment. energy-efficiency verification confirms these savings are independently validated, not marketing claims.
What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover, and for how long?
The Guardian lifetime limited warranty is non-prorated for the original owner, meaning it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own the home. Critically, it's one-time transferable: if you sell, the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion. This matters in Ontario's real estate market—a metal roof is a genuine selling point because buyers inherit decades of protection without paying for a new roof. Combined with aluminum's proven durability (installed and performing since 1998 in coastal and extreme climates) and the 30-year coating warranty, you're looking at a roof that will outlast multiple asphalt replacements. It's the only roof you'll likely ever buy.
How much upkeep does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or slate?
Virtually none compared to traditional materials. Asphalt shingles require annual inspection, moss treatment, and leaf removal from valleys; they degrade visibly after 10–15 years. Wood shake splits and curlsing Fonthill's 81 freeze-thaw cycles, requiring expensive partial replacement. Slate or clay tile crack under impact and need specialty repairs. Interlock aluminum requires only occasional gutter cleaning (standard for any roof) and rinse-offs if leaves accumulate—the smooth, non-porous surface sheds debris naturally. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is weatherproof to core, so you don't need sealant reapplication every few years. CALGreen verification confirms the reduced-maintenance benefit. Over 50+ years, this means no emergency repairs, no early replacements, no weekend ladder work.
Can I install a metal roof directly over my existing shingles, and how long does it take?
Yes—one of aluminum's greatest advantages is its ultralight weight. At 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft, Interlock profiles install over most existing asphalt roofs without structural reinforcement (the weight of a single layer of asphalt shingles is comparable, or heavier). This eliminates the expense and waste of tear-off and disposal. Installation itself is fast: a typical residential roof completes in 1–3 days depending on size, weather, and crew. Unlike asphalt (which requires multiple rolls and overlaps) or tile (which needs structural bracing), the four-way interlocking panels lock together quickly and securely. Your home stays protected during the process, and there's minimal disruption to daily life. The local Interlock Metal Roofing (Ontario) Ltd. team has installed roofs throughout the region since 1998 and can advise on timeline specifics for your home.
Is a metal roof actually better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Dramatically better, over the roof's lifetime. Asphalt shingles are petroleum-based and designed for 15–20 years; when they fail, the entire roof tears off and goes to landfill—typically 10–15 tons per home. That's a recurring cycle every generation. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable; at end-of-life (50+ years from now), the panels have genuine scrap value and return to the aluminum supply loop. More importantly, you won't trigger tear-off waste for decades. Fonthill receives about 856 mm of rain and 97 cm of snow annually—conditions that accelerate asphalt degradation and shortens replacement cycles. A metal roof installed once sidesteps that entire asphalt-to-landfill cycle, eliminating repeated manufacturing, transport, and disposal emissions. The environmental case is clearest when you think across the full lifecycle, not just material.
