What our customers are saying:
Discover why homeowners in Brookfield, IL are choosing Interlock Metal Roofing – Midwest for their Metal Roofing needs: from a smooth, no-pressure sales process to a respectful installation crew, this energy-efficient metal roof has already made a huge difference in cooling costs and comfort.
The Interlock team was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. Undertaking the re-roof of a 108-year-old home is a major process and investment. After speaking to many other roofers, we realized that Interlock offered the best value proposition, and we felt like they were going to be able to deliver on what they promised.
I am very happy with the results of their work.
It took a really, really long time. It took over five months, but once they finished the roof, they did a good job. Interlock Roofing could improve the scheduling and the communication of when the project would be done. The contractors were awesome.
if our home was newer and we had money to invest into it your product sounded awesome just not right for us at this time
Dear John, I wish I had known about the Interlock Roofing System before I put the last new roof on twenty years ago. If I had, I would not have had to replace it again now.
We signed a contract with John yesterday.
The end of the project. No one told me when the project was going to be finished. The on-site manager told me I had to sign off on the work and give him the check. Previously, I had been told that I would not have to sign anything or submit final payment until I had an opportunity to inspect the finished work. Big difference between what I was told would happen and what actually happened.
None
I think the product will speak for itself. Obviously the cost is higher than the price for asphalt. I thought the crew did a great job and I will recommend to anyone who inquires Communication could have been better. Coordination between my general contractor and an install supervisor would have made things smoother
They could improve by being prepared with their permit before starting the job.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bedford Park
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bedford Park, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bedford Park.
Will a metal roof hold up to Chicago winters with all the freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it contains no iron and cannot rust, making it ideal for a climate like Bedford Park's approximately 82 annual freeze-thaw days. Unlike asphalt shingles that crack and curl as they expand and contract, roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum expands uniformly and returns to its original shape. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is bonded to both sides of the panel, protecting against the salt spray and moisture that accelerate deterioration in freeze-thaw cycles. This material has been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations, where conditions far exceed what an Illinois winter delivers.
How does a metal roof handle Bedford Park's snow, ice dams, and ice buildup?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice faster than asphalt because the smooth, interlocked panels create a unified surface with no gaps for ice to grip. Bedford Park receives about 73 centimeters of snow annually, and a properly installed Interlock roof sheds that load efficiently without the ice dams that trap water on traditional roofs. The four-way interlocking system creates a continuous envelope, so meltwater runs straight down rather than pooling at seams. Snow guards are available if you want to control where snow slides—a practical choice if your home sits above a walkway or neighbor's property. The lightweight design (Shake profile at just 0.58 lb/sq ft) means no snow load worries or structural reinforcement needed.
With Bedford Park's 993 mm of rain per year, will the roof leak where panels interlock?
No—the four-way interlocking system is specifically engineered to shed water faster than it can accumulate. The overlapping panel design means each joint has a redundant water barrier; rain simply flows down and off without chance to seep into seams. Bedford Park's annual rainfall of about 993 millimeters is well within the performance envelope Interlock roofs handle in coastal and mountain climates where precipitation is heavier and more persistent. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms leak protection under IBC/IRC standards. When installed to specification over a solid deck and underlayment, the system performs identically to asphalt in heavy rain—that is, completely dry inside.
Can a metal roof survive the wind gusts in the Chicago area?
Absolutely. Bedford Park experiences typical wind gusts around 97 km/h (about 60 mph), well below the 120 mph (193 km/h) wind speed the warranty covers when the roof is installed to specification. The four-way interlocking panels lock together mechanically—each panel is fastened and supported by its neighbors—so they cannot lift or separate under normal gust loads. The system's strength comes from the integrated design, not from heavy fastening; the aluminum's light weight actually reduces stress on those connections. Even severe wind events in this region remain within the performance envelope of a properly installed Interlock roof.
Why do people say metal roofs rust, and is that a concern in Illinois?
Steel roofs can rust because steel contains iron, which oxidizes when exposed to oxygen and moisture. Interlock roofing is made from aluminum (3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy to ASTM B209), which contains no iron and therefore cannot rust—a fundamental material difference. Aluminum instead develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath; when scratched, this protective layer self-heals automatically. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating adds an extra barrier, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In a climate with 993 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling, the inability to rust is a genuine advantage—it means your roof will never deteriorate from corrosion, regardless of moisture or salt exposure.
Does my house need structural reinforcement to support a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed because Interlock's aluminum panels weigh far less than traditional roofing materials. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—that same profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft. Most homes can support the Interlock system over their existing roof without any structural modifications; the installation process is straightforward, and your home's frame experiences minimal added load. This weight advantage also means faster installation and lower labor costs compared to slate or tile. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms installation methods suitable for standard residential framing, eliminating the expensive reinforcement that traditional heavy materials demand.
What warranty comes with Interlock roofing, and how long will it actually last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no degradation schedule. This is the only roof you will likely buy; the manufacturer has been producing these panels since 1998, and they remain installed on homes from coastal salt-air environments to Antarctic research stations. The warranty is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion—a compelling selling point if you ever move. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty on the Alunar finish, you're protected through every season of Bedford Park's climate, including its 82 annual freeze-thaw cycles and approximately 3,051 hours of sunshine.
Is a metal roof safer in a fire than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Interlock roofing is non-combustible aluminum—it will not ignite, burn, or contribute fuel to a fire—and a Class A fire classification is available, the highest rating assigned by fire safety standards. This matters because asphalt shingles are petroleum-based and will burn if exposed to intense heat. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for fire safety under IBC/IRC standards. In Cook County, where fire codes are stringent, choosing a non-combustible roof simplifies compliance and may reduce your homeowner's insurance cost. The material itself is inert; it reflects heat rather than absorbing it, an advantage across Bedford Park's approximately 3,051 annual sunshine hours and during any fire event affecting your community.
Is an Interlock metal roof more affordable than asphalt over the life of the roof?
While the upfront cost is higher than asphalt shingles, it is lower than slate or tile, and the total cost of ownership is far better because you will never replace it. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in climates with 73 centimeters of snow and 82 freeze-thaw cycles per year; you will reroof twice before Interlock requires replacement. Each asphalt tearoff generates landfill waste and labor cost; Interlock's lightweight aluminum installs over most existing roofs, cutting that expense. The warranty covers you for a lifetime, and recycled aluminum's resale value offsets initial investment over decades. When you factor in no maintenance, no repairs, no replacements, and one single installation, Interlock becomes the last roof you buy—the most economical choice for a 30+ year horizon.
Is there a local installer for Interlock metal roofing near Bedford Park?
Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing has been serving the region since 2001, bringing more than two decades of installation experience to Bedford Park and Cook County. The local team understands the specific challenges of Illinois winters—freeze-thaw cycling, heavy snow loads, wind gusts, and intense freeze-thaw stress—and installs the system correctly to handle those conditions. Working with an established regional installer means faster scheduling, easier communication, and local accountability. They can answer questions about your home's specific structure, recommend the right profile (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, or Mediterranean Tile) for your aesthetic goals, and ensure the installation meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 code requirements and warranty specifications.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Bedford Park’s climate?
Yes. Bedford Park averages about 73 cm of snow, 993 mm of rain, roughly 82 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 97 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
