| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |

What our customers are saying:
Our neighbors had problems with ice dams but our roof did not with the Interlock Metal Roofing System. The installation crews were very professional and courteous.
This is to inform you of our satisfaction with the new Interlock roof on our home and to express an even greater satisfaction in the relationship with your staff during the entire process. Wayne Grant was very informative and courteous with his presentation and in filling out all the necessary paperwork to get started. Fred and his crew of installers were very professional and kept me totally informed on all aspects of the installation. The site was kept very clean as they worked and was totally cleaned each day before they left. Fred showed considerable concern in our satisfaction in all areas. Thank you for all your help
Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value To Potential Interlock Customer: We intentionally waited almost two years to write a review (roof replaced in August 2019). Replacing a roof (whether asphalt or Interlock) is an expensive project, and we felt it was important to have the perspective of someone who has experience with the Interlock roof for 2 years. Our house is an old colonial built in about 1890. It is almost 3200 square feet with an attic that could be converted to a third floor. We also have an L-shaped wrap-around porch at the front of the house. I am very familiar with the effort it takes to replace a roof, as I have helped re-roof five different houses, including my own. I did this with the help of several friends, putting a layer of asphalt shingles on my house about 20 years ago. However, after 20 years, I had shingles beginning to fail and lost a couple during wind storms. I had a couple of asphalt shingle contractors look at the house for an estimate. One never provided a quote. The second refused the work because my house is 34 feet at the peak, and he felt it was too tall for him to work on. Michael Baldarassi came to our house in June 2019. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable about the construction of old houses and correctly identified that the gable ends would need repair as it was common to not fully extend roof boards to the gable end. He explained the product extremely well, and we were happy to choose the black, " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate-looking tiles for our roof. The work team started in the second week of August on a bright sunny, " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot week. My roof needed to be stripped to the boards, and I was amazed at how quickly they dealt with the very hot asphalt shingles. It is an extremely hard-working team, and it was to the point that I wanted to tell them to take breaks. Sheets of plywood were carried up to the roof, gable ends were repaired, and several spots needed repair prior to installing the Interlock shingles. They did an excellent installation, along with cleanup and the weather-supported completion in 5 days. We immediately started receiving compliments from townspeople who thought we were having a slate roof put on. The roof definitely adds appeal to our house. Our experience with the Interlock roof has been outstanding. I no longer worry during the strong winds of winter. Having the snow slide off the roof has been a big benefit. Our first snowstorm in December 2019 was 20 inches. It was predicted to be followed by rain four days later. For the past 20 years, I have had to go out onto the wrap-around porch roof to shovel it off so that the 20 inches of snow with rain on it wouldn’t overload the porch. Not with Interlock. The snow had slid off during the snowstorm and before the rain, so no more shovelling the roof. I love not having to stand on a snowy roof shovelling anymore. Having the snow slide off has other benefits. It removed tons of weight from the snow on the roof. That snow weight does nothing good for a house. I used to have minor changes in door fitting, etc., during the winter, but that has stopped because the snow weight on the roof is gone. Additionally, no snow on the roof means no icicles. As one side of my house faces the sun all day, there are winters where if it is 10F and sunny for several days, massive icicles form that weigh hundreds of pounds. These become dangerous when they unexpectedly drop. Icicles do not happen when there is no snow on the roof. Our Interlock roof has been a fantastic choice, and it has added to the value of our house. One day when we sell our house, I have no doubt that our Interlock roof will help to attract a buyer, and the price of the roof will likely be recouped in part or all. What is a big question a potential homebuyer has? - how old is the roof? Being able to answer with a 50-year " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty that can be transferred to one buyer will bring a lot of weight to the sale. The warranty gives us peace of mind that the roof will never worry us again. Thank you again, Interlock. Service: Roof installation
Nazar was awesome to fix roof from winter ice damage. !!
All of the above...we had a positive experience and live the look of our roof.
We just wanted to write and let you know how happy we are with our new Interlock shingle roof. The newly installed roof provides the house with a great “look” and it is performing beautifully. We have had 2 snow storms since the installation, and just as was promoted, the snow comes sliding off after only a few inches of accumulation. We are looking forward to an “ice dam” free winter next year. I would also like to say that the entire process, from estimate to job completion was a pleasant experience. Your salesman was professional and presented the product with facts. There were no high pressure sales tactics which was wonderful. The installation crew was also professional and courteous. They kept the work area neat and clean and went out of their way to make sure we were completely satisfied. In closing, we have, and will continue, to recommend this roofing system to anyone who asks. Thanks for the wonderful, worry free roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Kittery Point
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Kittery Point, Maine. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Kittery Point.
Does a metal roof handle Maine's heavy snow without ice dams?
Yes — aluminum's smooth, interlocking surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt. Kittery Point receives about 110 cm of snow annually, and freeze-thaw cycling happens roughly 80 times per year here, creating ideal conditions for ice dam formation on conventional roofs. Metal's thermal conductivity and low friction allow snow to slide off rather than bond. We install snow guards where roof pitch or neighbor proximity demands it, giving you control over slide timing without sacrificing the self-shedding advantage that prevents trapped ice and water damage.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in York County damage aluminum panels?
No — aluminum thrives under freeze-thaw stress because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or becoming brittle. Kittery Point experiences approximately 80 freeze-thaw days yearly, combined with 1013 mm of annual rain and 110 cm of snow. Unlike wood shakes, which split and curl, or asphalt, which becomes brittle and fractures, aluminum's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) flexes with temperature swings and retains its structural integrity indefinitely. The four-way interlocking design accommodates micro-movement without stress concentration at fasteners.
Can a metal roof stand up to Maine's coastal wind gusts?
Yes — the four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Kittery Point's typical daily winds average 21 km/h with gusts recorded to about 135 km/h, putting it in a high-wind zone. The interlocking design distributes lateral load across the entire panel network rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners, which is why metal roofs outperform traditional shingles in coastal gust events. This design also qualifies for potential wind-insurance premium reductions — ask your agent about Class 4 impact ratings and 120 mph wind warranty documentation.
Does metal roofing reduce hail damage risk and insurance costs?
Absolutely — Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many homeowners in hail-prone regions see insurance premium reductions because the roof itself is impact-resistant and transferable warranty reduces carrier claims risk. While Kittery Point's coastal location means hail is less frequent than inland Maine, the Class 4 durability protects your investment from rare severe events. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 and ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation — they often reward non-combustible, impact-rated roofing with discounts.
Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?
Yes — energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt. Kittery Point averages 3140 sunshine hours per year; reflective coatings (initial solar reflectance up to 0.55, thermal emissivity 0.84) significantly reduce attic heat gain, lowering air-conditioning demand. This matters even in cooler coastal Maine because summer peaks can still drive cooling load. Metal roofs are Cool Roof Rating Council rated, meaning less heat transfer through the deck in summer and lower seasonal energy bills. The reflectivity advantage persists over the 50+ year life of the roof, unlike asphalt's reflectance degradation.
Can I install metal tile without reinforcing my roof structure?
Yes — the Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most homes' existing framing can support this weight without modification, allowing you to overlay your current roof directly rather than tear off and reinforce. Kittery Point homes built on standard wood framing can install Tile, Shake (0.58 lb/sq ft), or Shingle (0.41 lb/sq ft) profiles over existing asphalt without structural work. This translates to lower installation cost, zero construction disruption, and immediate disposal of the old roof material avoided — a major advantage over heavy tile or slate upgrades.
What warranty covers a metal roof over its lifetime?
The Guardian lifetime limited warranty provides non-prorated material coverage for the original owner against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell, the next owner receives 50 years of transferable coverage from completion — a rare benefit that adds resale appeal. This is backed by a company manufacturing since 1998 in Delta, BC, with installations from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station. The combination of aluminum's inherent durability (no iron to rust, self-healing oxide layer) and fluorocarbon coating (30-year warranty against chalking) means your roof is protected through multiple ownership cycles.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Yes — metal roofing is the last roof you buy. Asphalt lasts 15–25 years; Interlock aluminum lasts 70+ years with zero rust or rot. Over a 50-year period, you'll replace asphalt twice (with tear-off disposal costs), plus maintenance, patches, and potential leak repairs. Metal requires virtually no maintenance (gutters and flashing only), withstands Kittery Point's 1013 mm rain, 110 cm snow, and 80 annual freeze-thaw cycles without degradation, and is transferable to the next owner with 50 years of warranty remaining. When you factor in avoided replacement labor, disposal costs, and durability, the lifetime cost per year favors metal decisively — especially given current financing options: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation.
Does heavy rainfall damage metal roofing or cause leaks?
No — the four-way interlocking panels direct water off the roof in overlapping pathways, preventing ponding and ensuring drainage even in Kittery Point's annual rainfall of 1013 mm. Metal roofing outperforms asphalt in heavy rain because its smooth surface doesn't absorb water, and the mechanical interlock system creates fail-safe overlap at seams. Installed over solid decking with proper underlayment and flashing (per ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification), metal roofs are watertight for the life of the home. Unlike asphalt, which can absorb water and degrade, or wood shakes, which split when saturated, aluminum is immune to water infiltration at the panel level — leaks are nearly always installation-related, not material failure.
