What our customers are saying:
I just had a brand new Dark Grey Metal Roof by INTERLOCK installed. I found everyone that I dealt with from Jonathan Brown in sales and Jennifer Simons in the office and to the crew that did an excellent job ( they were very hard workers)! I am pleased with the outcome of the roof. It looks wonderful, I would highly recommend interlock to anyone who Is looking for a quality roof and excellent and professional installation.
We recently had your Interlock Roofing System installed on our home. It has now been about 3 months since the roof was installed. We receive many compliments on how beautiful the roof looks. Your installers were polite, fast, cleaned up the area daily and did a full clean up after the job was completed. My wife and I discussed installing a metal roofing system because of the many advantages of a metal roofing system. We did not want a system like the ones everyone sees on old barns, (straight panels). We were looking for an attractive looking system that would add curb appeal to our home. We decided to go to one of the local home shows to see what types of roofing systems were available. That's when we found your company. I had seen various style metal roofs on home TV shows, but none of them matched the interlocking panel system like yours. The shingles not only interlock with each other but they are also nailed into the roof deck for a good solid roofing system. I work at a local College as the Manager of Building Services. I am responsible for maintenance of many difference types of buildings and roofs. I have seen the amount of damage caused by water, snow, ice and wind. So when deciding what type of roof we should install on the largest investment anyone purchases in their lifetime (a house), we decided to invest in a metal roof which we will never have to worry about again. The advantages of the metal roof are easy to understand and see. Interlock roof system will keep your home cooler during summer months, warmer during winter month, eliminates " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams, keeps your heating and cooling costs down and looks great year round. While keeping your house safe from water, ice, snow and wind damages. The most often asked question since we had this roof installed was, Isn't it noisy when it rains? I want to tell you, that we have had many heavy down pours and you can not hear the rain, even during the hardest rainstorms. It is not any louder than any other roofing system. Our off white house has blue awnings and blue shutters so when my wife saw the blue color offered in your brochure, she fell in love with it and decided it would match our house nicely, and she was right. My niece came over to see the new roof and said the house looks like it's brand new, our house was built in 1954. We have people drive by the house and they literally stop to admire how great the house looks. When we're out in the yard people blow their horn and yell "the roof looks great". Purchasing a metal roof is more expensive but you'll never spend another penny on your roof again. You'll never have to listen to people pounding nails while you're trying to relax after you returning home from work. You won't have to worry about coming up with the expensive cost of replacing a roof on your home after you retire. All of these reasons are just part of why we invested in installing the roofing system that will be still on our home after we are gone. Not to mention it has a full replacement " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty transferable to the next owner should you ever decide to sell your house. We believe it adds curb appeal to your home, saves you money on utilities, increases the value of your house and you will never have to replace it for as long as you live. If you look at the cost to install a conventional asphalt shingled roof, which you will probably have to invest in twice in your lifetime, coupled up with the cost of disposal for stripping your old roofing system. I believe you will find it will cost about the same monies in the long run and you will not be inconvenienced by construction noise while your roof is being replaced again for second or third time. I believe this is the best investment we have made next to the purchase of our house. This message is for anyone who is considering investing in a metal roof. Spend the little extra on the roof that will protect your most costly investment you will ever make and never have to worry about it again. How can you possibly consider any other roofing system?
I've had an Interlock metal roof on my house and garden shed for two years now. It's absolutely gorgeous. Everyone thinks it's a slate roof! I've had no problems with it. The installation was amazing! A crew of 11 showed up early in the morning and were almost completely done in one day on both buildings. They were so professional. I highly recommend Interlock for both their high quality product and their great people.
Just a note about the roof we installed in March of 2003. The first thing that we have to say is that the roof looks wonderful; it’s the best one on the street. A neighbor two houses down the street had a new asphalt roof installed shortly after we had our Interlock Roof installed. The neighbor across the street remarked that our roof looked a lot better than the neighbor's. We have had quite a few neighbors stop and ask about the roof and remark how good it looks. Having the chimney flashed with a solid flashing (instead of step flashing) and the ducts matching the roof really makes the roof look finished off. Also, having them put vents on the back which match the roof looks finished off, so they are not noticeable. As far as the workmen and the quality of workmanship, we feel that it was done very professionally. We asked that they not start working until 8:00 am, and they waited until 8:30 am to start. They kept the grounds very clean even when they were stripping the roof. They hung tarps so nothing could or would damage either the house or any plants which are around the house. They were very friendly and courteous. In closing, we are very pleased with the roof and the professionalism of the workers.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in South Amherst
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in South Amherst, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in South Amherst.
How does a metal roof handle 120 centimeters of snow per year like South Amherst gets?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams from forming along the eaves. South Amherst averages about 120 cm of snow annually with roughly 105 freeze-thaw cycles, which means your roof constantly faces melting and refreezing. Interlock panels' four-way interlocking design and solid installation over decking eliminate the gaps where water pools and refreezes. Snow slides cleanly off rather than accumulating in layers that add weight and trap moisture. Snow guards are available if you want to manage runoff direction. This addresses the leading cause of winter roof failure in New England climates.
Will freeze-thaw cycling crack or weaken an aluminum metal roof over time?
No—aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens through freeze-thaw cycles rather than degrading like materials with internal moisture absorption. Roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy contains no iron, so it cannot rust even when water repeatedly freezes and thaws on its surface. South Amherst experiences about 105 freeze-thaw days annually, plus roughly 1,127 mm of rain, yet aluminum remains dimensionally stable. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle and cracks in cold cycles, or wood shakes, which split, aluminum's crystalline structure actually improves. The Alunar coating protects the substrate for 30 years against environmental degradation. This is why Interlock has installed roofs from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station.
Can an aluminum metal roof rust in a New England climate with heavy rain and snow?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron oxidation, and aluminum is iron-free. Instead, aluminum develops a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. When scratched or abraded, this oxide layer reforms automatically. South Amherst receives about 1,127 mm of rain and roughly 120 cm of snow annually, yet aluminum resists all water-related corrosion. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every Interlock panel, adding a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading even in high-moisture environments. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant maintenance to prevent iron oxidation. This is why aluminum is the only roofing metal that improves with exposure to wet climates.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure to support a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is required, even for profiles that replicate heavy materials. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than real concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over existing roofs without adding strain. The Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft. This extreme lightness means your current framing carries the load effortlessly, and installation is faster because no decking upgrades are needed. South Amherst's 120 cm annual snowfall adds temporary weight, but aluminum's strength-to-weight ratio handles this easily. Compare this to authentic slate or tile, which would demand expensive structural work. This is one reason metal roofing saves money upfront—no hidden reinforcement costs.
How well does an aluminum metal roof stand up to South Amherst wind and gusts?
Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. South Amherst experiences typical daily-maximum winds around 15 km/h with gusts up to 114 km/h—well within this rating. The four-way interlocking panel design locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides, creating a unified system that distributes wind load evenly across the roof rather than allowing individual panels to lift or separate. This interlocking mechanism is backed by ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, which certifies compliance with the IBC and IRC building codes. Steel fasteners and proper installation over solid decking further anchor the system. You're protected against nor'easters and seasonal gale-force events common to New England.
What's the hail rating on an Interlock metal roof, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This Class 4 rating can qualify you for insurance discounts on homeowner or commercial policies because insurers recognize that metal roofing dramatically reduces hail-damage claims. Many carriers offer 10–15% premium reductions for Class 4 rated roofs. South Amherst's average 3,082 annual sunshine hours mean hail is less frequent here than in the Great Plains, but when it occurs, impact resistance matters. Asphalt shingles offer no hail rating and typically fail under large hailstones. Ask your insurer about discounts when you switch—the savings often recover a meaningful portion of installation cost over the first five years.
With all the rain and snow South Amherst gets, how do you prevent leaks with a metal roof?
Heavy rainfall—South Amherst receives about 1,127 mm per year—is handled by the four-way interlocking panel system and solid-deck installation. Each panel overlaps and locks to the next on all four sides, creating a rainwater labyrinth that sheds water quickly downslope rather than allowing it to pool or penetrate seams. The solid decking underneath (typically 7/16-inch plywood or OSB) eliminates the gap between rafter spacing that asphalt shingles leave. Water that somehow reaches the decking flows to gutters via ice-and-water shield or felt underlayment, the same as traditional roofing. Interlock has installed roofs from coastal homes with salt spray to wet temperate climates worldwide. Leak rates are effectively zero when installation is done correctly. Your ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance ensures the system is code-approved for your region's rainfall intensity.
Will an energy-efficiency metal roof actually lower my cooling costs in Massachusetts?
Yes—Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing attic and interior temperatures on sunny days. South Amherst receives about 3,082 hours of sunshine annually, and reflective coatings with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny color) measurably reduce cooling demand in summer. This is verified by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Energy savings compound over decades; a cooler attic also means lower HVAC cycling and longer equipment life. The benefit is greatest in south and west-facing exposures. In New England's moderate climate, you won't see the dramatic cooling savings of southern states, but every degree of temperature reduction cuts air-conditioning energy use. Combined with the roof's 50+ year lifespan, you're reducing energy consumption over a half-century of operation.
How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof actually need versus asphalt or tile?
Aluminum metal roofing requires virtually no ongoing maintenance—no annual inspections for cracked, curled, or missing shingles, no moss or algae treatment, and no spot repairs. Asphalt shingles fail within 15–20 years and need frequent inspection and patching; wood shakes split and rot; concrete tile cracks and leaks. Interlock aluminum panels are non-combustible, don't absorb moisture, don't support algae growth, and their Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. South Amherst's 1,127 mm annual rainfall and 105 freeze-thaw cycles accelerate deterioration in traditional materials—yet aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched. Gutters and downspouts need clearing (any roof), but the metal itself asks nothing of you. This CALGreen-verified reduction in maintenance makes it the lowest-care roofing choice available.
What's the warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and is it really better than asphalt?
The Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no degradation over time. This one-time transferable warranty gives the next owner 50 years from completion, making it the most protective transferable roof warranty in the industry. Asphalt shingles carry 20–30-year prorated warranties that decline in value each year and don't transfer. Because aluminum cannot rust and its oxide layer self-heals, Interlock can warranty the material itself for life. South Amherst's 120 cm of snow, 1,127 mm of rain, and 105 freeze-thaw days per year would destroy asphalt long before this warranty expires. You're buying your last roof; the next owner gets 50 years of coverage. No other roofing material offers this combination of lifespan and warranty certainty.
