| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lake Netta
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lake Netta, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lake Netta.
How does a metal roof handle Lake Netta's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice reliably even under Lake Netta's average 92 cm annual snowfall. The smooth, sloped surface resists ice dam formation better than asphalt, which traps moisture and freeze-thaw cycles. With about 83 freeze-thaw days per year in this region, that durability matters: aluminum's oxide layer doesn't degrade from salt or repeated freezing, while asphalt becomes brittle and cracks. Optional snow guards are available if you prefer controlled release. The panels weigh only 0.41 lb/sq ft (Slate profile), so they won't overload your structure even when heavy wet snow accumulates.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Minnesota damage an aluminum metal roof?
No—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw climates. Unlike asphalt shingles and wood shakes, which crack and curl as water infiltrates and expands during Lake Netta's roughly 83 annual freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum contains no moisture-absorbing material. It cannot rot, split, or delaminate. The self-healing oxide layer protects against corrosion even when scratched during installation or snow removal. With 778 mm of annual rainfall and repeated thawing, asphalt degrades progressively; aluminum's three-decade coating warranty (ASTM D4214/D2244) covers any fading or chalking, ensuring the roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy beneath stays intact through Minnesota winters and springs.
Can an aluminum roof rust in Minnesota's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust—it contains no iron. In Lake Netta's 778 mm of annual rain, this matters profoundly. When aluminum's outer oxide layer is scratched, it self-heals automatically, rebuilding protection without maintenance. Steel roofing requires paint touch-ups and eventually fails; aluminum does not. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy is coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, designed to withstand salt air and moisture. Even in climates harsher than Minnesota's, Interlock panels installed on Antarctic research stations and coastal homes prove aluminum's corrosion resistance. This material won't develop rust stains or require rust repair over its lifetime.
Are metal roofs safe in Minnesota wind and thunderstorms?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), and Lake Netta's typical wind gusts reach about 100 km/h. The interlocking design transfers wind loads across the entire roof plane rather than stressing individual fasteners, which is why the system performs so well in extreme conditions. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790) confirms compliance with both IBC and IRC wind requirements. Your roof won't lift or buckle in spring thunderstorms or the occasional severe gust. The panels have been installed in hurricane-prone regions and mountain passes—locations far more wind-stressed than Anoka County—with a proven track record since 1998.
Does an aluminum metal roof hold up to Minnesota hail?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Lake Netta's freeze-thaw cycles and occasional severe weather make impact durability essential. Aluminum's strength-to-weight ratio lets it absorb hail energy without denting or cracking like asphalt or slate. Many insurers recognize this rating and offer discounts for Class 4-rated roofing. Because the roof is non-combustible (Class A fire classification available) and extremely durable, you may qualify for additional premium reductions. Check with your agent—the combination of impact resistance and fire rating often lowers your annual costs.
Can a metal roof keep my Lake Netta home cooler in summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt. The Aged Copper Penny finish, for example, achieves initial solar reflectance of 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning it bounces sunlight away and releases absorbed heat efficiently. While Lake Netta averages about 3113 sunshine hours per year, reflective metal roofing reduces the heat transmitted into your attic compared to dark asphalt. You'll see lower air conditioning costs on warm days. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification validates this performance independently. Over a 50-year roof life, the energy savings compound, offsetting installation costs and reducing your home's overall cooling load.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Slate profile weighs only 0.41 lb/sq ft—roughly 1/240th the weight of traditional slate—and the Mediterranean Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This extreme lightness means the panels install directly over most existing roofs, eliminating costly tear-off and disposal. Lake Netta homes built to standard code can accommodate metal roofing without modification. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms installation over existing shingles and solid decks. You avoid structural engineering costs and months of construction delay. The same home that cannot structurally support real tile or slate can safely wear an aluminum roof that looks identical—and lasts far longer.
How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof need?
Virtually none. Unlike wood shakes that require periodic treatment or asphalt that deteriorates after 15–20 years, Interlock aluminum needs only occasional debris clearing—leaf gutters in fall, perhaps a rinse after heavy pollen or dust. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244), so repainting is never necessary. Lake Netta's 778 mm annual rain naturally cleans the roof. No patching, no re-nailing, no staining. The Guardian Warranty covers the material for the original owner's lifetime, non-prorated. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden compared to traditional roofing. Over 50 years, the time and money saved on maintenance alone justify the choice.
What is the warranty on an Interlock metal roof?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, which significantly boosts resale appeal. Lake Netta homes with a metal roof installed in 2025 will be covered through 2075 for the second owner. This confidence reflects roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating designed for decades of durability. The 30-year coating warranty (separate) proves Interlock's faith in fade and chalk resistance. No other roofing material offers lifetime coverage. For a home investment, that's peace of mind no asphalt or wood roof provides.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Lake Netta?
Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Lake Netta region since 2001, with deep familiarity of Anoka County's climate challenges—heavy snow, freeze-thaw cycles, and occasional severe wind. Local installers know how to spec snow guards, ensure proper drainage in Minnesota winters, and optimize roof ventilation. They're experienced with the ICC-ES ESR-1790 code requirements and will pull permits correctly. Because they've installed hundreds of roofs through Minnesota seasons, they understand the details that prevent leaks and maximize longevity. Your local installer also handles warranty service and can advise on profile choice (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, Standing Seam) that suits your home's architecture and your neighborhood's aesthetic.
