What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Soderville
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Soderville, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Soderville.
How does metal roofing handle Minnesota's heavy snow and ice dams?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface prevents ice dam formation and allows meltwater to drain properly. Soderville averages about 92 cm of snow annually with roughly 83 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels remain completely rigid through these cycles; the aluminum alloy will not split, crack, or curl. Optional snow guards can be added if you prefer to retain snow for insulation. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) handles the full winter load without structural stress.
Why does freeze-thaw cycling damage some roofs but not aluminum?
Freeze-thaw damage occurs when water penetrates a material, freezes, expands, and cracks the surface from inside—asphalt shingles absorb water and fail this way. Aluminum is non-porous and non-hygroscopic; water cannot soak into it, so freezing causes no expansion damage. With 83 freeze-thaw days per year in Soderville and annual rainfall of about 778 mm, your roof faces constant wet-and-freeze stress. Interlock aluminum resists this cycle completely. The material's oxide layer self-heals microscopic scratches, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) protects against corrosion from salt spray or mineral-laden meltwater runoff.
Will a metal roof blow off in Minnesota wind and hail storms?
No. Interlock's four-way interlocking system is engineered for winds up to 120 mph, and Soderville's typical gusts reach only about 100 km/h (62 mph). The panels mechanically lock together on all four edges, preventing lift and flutter even in severe squalls. The warranty covers wind resistance when installed to specification, and the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—means the roof withstands 1.5-inch hail without perforation. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts. The lightweight design (Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft) actually reduces uplift forces compared to concrete tile while delivering superior wind performance.
Does aluminum metal roofing rust in Minnesota's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. It forms a protective oxide layer when exposed to air, and this layer automatically repairs itself when scratched—a process called self-healing. Steel roofing, by contrast, rusts and requires ongoing maintenance. Soderville's 778 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycles accelerate rust on ferrous metals. Interlock aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24 per ASTM B209) resists corrosion in all climates, from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both sides adds a 30-year warranty against corrosion, chalking, and fading—extra protection in wet Minnesota winters.
Can a metal roof reduce my homeowner's insurance premium?
Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 impact-rated roofs because they resist hail damage that would destroy asphalt shingles. Interlock's UL 2218 Class 4 rating is the highest impact classification available. Contact your insurance agent with the product specifications and ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 to inquire about available discounts. Soderville's climate brings both summer hail risk and winter ice—conditions that typically shorten asphalt shingle life to 15–20 years. Metal roofing's impact resistance and durability (with a lifetime limited warranty for the original owner) appeal to underwriters, potentially lowering your risk profile and monthly premium.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost over the roof's lifetime?
Yes, when measured over 50+ years. An asphalt roof typically costs less to install but requires full replacement every 15–20 years in Minnesota's freeze-thaw climate, plus regular maintenance and eventual landfill disposal. Interlock's lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner means no tearoff cost in your lifetime. The transferable warranty gives the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion, making it the last roof you—and potentially your successor—will ever buy. Lower maintenance (no gutter cleaning from shingle granules, no seasonal patching) further reduces lifetime cost. The lightweight design (Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete tile) installs over most existing roofs, eliminating expensive structural reinforcement.
What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—meaning the product itself is guaranteed against manufacturing defects for your ownership. The warranty is one-time transferable to the next owner, extending coverage 50 years from completion date. This structure reflects Interlock's confidence in the aluminum alloy's durability across diverse climates. With Soderville's 83 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 92 cm of snow, the material's resistance to cracking and curling under thermal and moisture stress is critical. Unlike prorated warranties that diminish over time, you're protected the entire time you own the home.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Virtually none compared to asphalt or wood. Metal roofing requires no seasonal patching, re-nailing, or shingle replacement—the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty) resists fading and chalking through Minnesota's 3,113 annual sunshine hours. No gutter cleaning debris from decomposing shingles; no moss or algae buildup that requires chemical treatment; no underside rot inspections. Occasional leaves or branches should be cleared, as with any roof. The non-porous aluminum surface prevents water absorption and the freeze-thaw cracking that plagues asphalt after 10–15 years in Soderville. This low-maintenance design is CALGreen-verified, reducing your home's environmental footprint and your time spent on roof upkeep.
Is metal roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt?
Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end-of-life, versus asphalt shingles that become landfill waste. Soderville homeowners typically replace asphalt roofs every 15–20 years due to Minnesota's 83 annual freeze-thaw cycles, 92 cm of snow, and 778 mm of rain—each tearoff sends tons of material to landfills. Interlock's lifetime warranty eliminates that cycle for the original owner and extends protection 50 years through transfer. The lightweight aluminum (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) reduces transportation emissions and installation labor. The Alunar coating uses durable PVDF chemistry, not oil-based paint that requires reapplication. Choosing metal roofing eliminates decades of asphalt tear-offs, reducing your home's lifecycle environmental impact significantly.
Will I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?
No, Interlock's lightweight design eliminates the need for structural reinforcement in virtually all cases. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates heavy clay or concrete tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. This means you can install metal roofing directly over your existing roof without removing shingles or upgrading framing. Soderville homes built for asphalt (typically 2–4 lb/sq ft) handle metal roofing with no additional support. The four-way interlocking system distributes load evenly across existing roof decking. Your engineer or local contractor can confirm specifics for your home, but weight is rarely a barrier. This easy installation saves thousands in labor and demolition costs compared to slate or real tile.
