Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Review: November 4, 2016 Completion: September 30, 2015

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Review: April 27, 2016 Completion: June 20, 2015

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Maple Plain

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Maple Plain, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Maple Plain.

How does a metal roof handle Maple Plain's heavy snow load and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice better than asphalt because it has no texture for water to grip during the roughly 79 freeze-thaw days per year that Hennepl County experiences. The four-way interlocking panels stay seated even as snow builds up, and the lightweight design—Interlock Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means your existing framing handles the load easily. With about 95 cm of annual snowfall and frequent thaw-refreeze cycles, that self-healing aluminum oxide layer resists the salt and moisture penetration that degrades conventional roofing.

Will my metal roof survive Maple Plain's winter wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind up to 120 mph, and the four-way interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors, distributing lateral force across the entire roof. Hennepin County's typical gusts reach about 94 km/h, well below that threshold. The warranty applies when installation follows specification, so the engineered connection is what matters—not the material's inherent strength. Winter storms here pose no unusual risk to a properly installed system.

Why can't aluminum roofing rust like steel, and why does that matter in Minnesota?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust chemically. Instead, it forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—a property that's especially valuable in Minnesota's wet climate of roughly 800 mm of rain per year. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires paint or coatings to prevent rust, and those break down. Here, the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish protects both sides of the panel and is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, but the aluminum itself is your backup protection if the coating ever chips.

Does freeze-thaw weather damage aluminum roofing panels?

No. Aluminum's crystalline structure doesn't weaken when water enters micro-voids and freezes the way wood shingles or asphalt fibers do. With about 79 freeze-thaw days annually in Hennepin County and roughly 95 cm of snow, your roof faces intense cycling, but aluminum panels won't split, curl, or lose their structural integrity. The coating system is engineered to expand and contract with temperature swings, so repeated freeze-thaw actually proves aluminum's durability advantage over materials that become brittle or delaminate after years of this stress.

Does Interlock Metal Roofing stand up to hail, and could it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That certification matters to insurers. Many homeowners qualify for premium discounts when they install a rated metal roof, though you'll want to check with your agent because discount policies vary by carrier and location. Minnesota hail events are possible, and aluminum's non-combustible strength gives you measurable protection most asphalt roofs simply don't offer.

What warranty comes with Interlock Metal Roofing, and how long will it actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. Because aluminum doesn't rot and the PVDF coating is warrantied 30 years against fading, you're looking at a roof that easily outlasts two asphalt lifecycles. In Maple Plain's climate—roughly 3,100 sunshine hours per year plus freeze-thaw stress—that durability buys you genuine peace of mind.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

When you calculate the total cost over the life of the roof, aluminum wins. Asphalt shingles need replacement every 15–25 years in Minnesota's wet, freeze-thaw climate; metal roofing covers the full lifespan of your home. Interlock panels don't degrade from the 800 mm of annual rainfall or 79 freeze-thaw days that age asphalt. You avoid the recurring costs of tear-off and disposal, plus metal roofs qualify for some tax credits and insurance discounts. The lifetime warranty, non-prorated for the original owner, means this is the last roof you buy.

Can my house handle metal roofing, or do I need structural reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. The Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft and the Mediterranean Tile profile about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most existing residential framing handles that weight easily, so Interlock installs over your current roof without structural work. That lightweight advantage means faster installation, lower labor costs, and no engineering delays. In a region with about 95 cm of annual snowfall, the light load also leaves your structural capacity as a buffer against heavy snow accumulation.

What profile options does Interlock offer, and do they look like real slate or cedar shake?

Interlock manufactures five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates the texture and shadow line of its namesake material, so they deliver visual authenticity at the curb. The Slate profile suits modern and colonial aesthetics, Cedar Shingle reads traditional, Shake bridges rustic and contemporary, Tile works with Mediterranean or Southwestern homes, and Standing Seam suits clean-lined designs. All profiles carry the same non-combustible aluminum durability and Class 4 impact rating, so your aesthetic choice doesn't compromise protection.

Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Maple Plain, and how experienced are they?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served the region since 2001, bringing over two decades of local experience to Hennepin County installations. That tenure matters: the installer understands Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles, snow loads of about 95 cm annually, and the wind gusts up to 94 km/h that require precise installation to meet the 120 mph warranty. Their familiarity with local building codes, permitting, and the quirks of retrofitting existing roofs means faster timelines and fewer surprises. When you call, you're working with people who've installed hundreds of systems in conditions exactly like yours.
