What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Long Lake
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Long Lake, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Long Lake.
How does a metal roof handle Long Lake's 95 cm of annual snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because it's slicker and expands minimally—critical in a climate with about 79 freeze-thaw days per year. The four-way interlocking panels create a unified surface that won't allow water to pool and refreeze into ice dams. Long Lake averages nearly 950 mm of precipitation annually; the standing seam profile channels meltwater directly off the roof. Metal won't split, crack, or curl from thermal shock like asphalt or wood shake, so your roof maintains its integrity through Minnesota winters year after year.
Why won't an aluminum roof rust like steel roofing in Minnesota winters?
Aluminum contains no iron, so it physically cannot rust—the mechanism that destroys steel doesn't exist. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched or exposed to moisture. Our Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel for extra protection in humid climates. With 796 mm of annual rain and significant winter moisture, this dual-sided coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 and D2244 measured). You're looking at a roof that won't degrade from Long Lake's wet seasons.
Can my existing roof structure support metal roofing, or do I need reinforcement?
No structural reinforcement needed. The Interlock Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over your existing roof in most cases. Our Cedar Shingle runs 0.41 lb/sq ft. Compare that to traditional tile, and you're adding almost no load. This matters in Long Lake because you avoid costly and disruptive structural work; many homes here simply can't support conventional tile without expensive framing upgrades. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms installation over existing roofing meets current building code.
Will a metal roof blow off in Long Lake's typical winter gusts?
No. The four-way interlocking panels lock together and are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h). Long Lake's typical daily-maximum winds average 19 km/h with gusts to about 94 km/h—well within the roof's rating. When panels interlock on all four sides, they act as a single unit; one panel won't peel free in a gust. This design is why we've installed Interlock roofs from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. Your roof will stay put through Minnesota's spring and fall storm seasons.
What profile options does Interlock offer for Long Lake homes?
Five profiles let you match any architectural style: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each locks together four ways and spans from residential to commercial applications. Slate works for contemporary or traditional homes; Cedar Shingle suits farmhouses and cottages; Mediterranean Tile complements heritage or eclectic designs; Standing Seam offers modern, minimalist appeal; Shake provides rustic warmth. All five profiles carry the same ICC-ES ESR-1790 code compliance, 120 mph wind warranty, and UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating. Your choice is aesthetic—the protection and longevity are identical.
How often do I need to maintain an Interlock metal roof?
Virtually never for the roof itself. Unlike asphalt shingles that require annual inspection and replacement of curling tabs, or wood shake that needs fungicide treatments and splits removal, aluminum is inert. It won't rot, split, or attract algae. After storms, scan your gutters for debris (standard for any roof); that's it. The Alunar finish is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. With Long Lake's 3,128 sunshine hours annually and 796 mm of rain, your roof self-cleans in rainfall and resists UV fade for 30 years. You'll spend your maintenance budget on other parts of the house.
What's the warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and how long does it really last?
The Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for you as the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. That one-time transfer adds resale appeal. Interlock has manufactured these roofs since 1998, so we have 25+ years of real-world data in climates like Minnesota's. The combination of aluminum (can't rust), the self-healing oxide layer, and Alunar 30-year coating warranty means your roof is engineered to outlast asphalt by decades. It's the last roof you'll buy.
Is a metal roof more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and never ends up in landfills. When your roof eventually needs replacement (decades from now), the panels go back into the recycling stream as raw material. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off every 15–25 years and dumped. Over a century, a home with one Interlock roof avoids 3–4 asphalt roof tear-offs and their associated landfill volume. Long Lake's 796 mm annual rainfall means excellent runoff; aluminum requires no chemical treatments or sealants to stay sound. You're reducing your household's environmental footprint while choosing durability over replacement cycles.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt over 30–50 years?
Over the roof's life, metal is the smarter investment. Asphalt shingles last 15–25 years and require replacement twice (or more) during the lifespan of one Interlock roof. Each replacement means labor, materials, and waste disposal—costs that compound. Interlock is installed once, carries a lifetime limited warranty for you, and needs no maintenance. Your insurance may offer hail or durability discounts (UL 2218 Class 4 qualified). The transferable 50-year term adds resale value in Long Lake's competitive market. While upfront cost is higher, you're buying decades of zero-replacement cycles, minimal upkeep, and a roof that still protects your home 40 years in.
Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in Long Lake's climate?
energy-efficient colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat, cooling your home and lowering summer air-conditioning load. Thermal emissivity reaches 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning the roof radiates absorbed heat back to the sky instead of transferring it indoors. Long Lake receives about 3,128 sunshine hours yearly; that reflection advantage compounds over summer months. Metal's low thermal mass also means it doesn't trap heat like asphalt. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measurable energy performance. You won't eliminate AC costs, but you'll use less electricity to cool during warm spells, offsetting some of your roofing investment.
