Review: January 19, 2016Completion: November 19, 2015

I have passed along Dave Harrison's card. Would warn about possible time frame issues and the mess. Also I would liked to have seen a more clearly written contract (what's with the exclamation points, Dave?) but as a retired real estate broker maybe I'm being too picky. Apparently the roofer couldn't understand it either (or didn't read it) when I had to show him where it indicted "no ridge vent on the main house" which he was about to do. Communication as to the start date of our project and knowing when the workers were going to be here so we could plan our day. They would miss work here on beautiful days and then arrive at 11:45 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Not working on a rainy day is expected but it would have been nice if they (and not me) had picked up the tools that were left scattered around the lawn. Not getting a timely response to our ridge vent problem is an ongoing worry. It has been over a month since I contacted Dave Harrison and still we have had no word from Interlock. This project was a nightmare but we do like the look of the product and only hope that it was well installed. I had asked Dave Harrison for an estimate on another of our homes next door to my sister's re-roofing project on Gould Road, Warner. He never got back to me. I'm not sure my blood pressure could stand this again anyway.

Our first Interlock roofing project was a great success which led us to use them again. Unfortunately, the second project did not go as smoothly and we are definitely not as pleased with the process this time.

Review: September 30, 2013Completion: August 25, 2013

We chose Interlock to install a much needed new roof on our 200-year-old farmhouse in Warner, New Hampshire which serves as our year-round vacation getaway. From the moment David showed up to meet with us through the final completion of the project a few weeks ago, we knew that we had made the right decision and that our project was in good hands. We never once felt pressured even though we took longer than expected to complete some preliminary repairs to a porch roof before the project could begin. When we did finally call to say that we had completed our work and were ready to go, they had a work crew on site in less than a week! More amazing is that they completed their work of stripping the old asphalt, installing a plywood deck, and re-roofing a large old house where nothing is truly square in five days and, other than the evidence of a brand new gray slate roof on our house, one would never know that anyone had even been there. The crew left our property cleaner than it was before they arrived. They even cleaned up a pile of roofing debris we had left behind following our re-roofing project. Throughout the project, David and Jennifer, in the office, were always available to answer our questions. From selecting the right roof to arranging to finance, to completing the project in a timely fashion, we could not be happier with the total interlock experience. We are highly satisfied with the result and are already looking forward to having Interlock install a new roof on our adjoining barn in the near future.

They got us scheduled earlier than expected, which was great. They did the entire roof in a day and a half, and they cleaned up after themselves, they worked fast, were very nice, and I highly recommend them to anyone. They could have improved with my understanding of the expectations throughout the project; it could have been better explained. they were great scheduled early, squeaky clean when they left.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Contoocook

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Contoocook, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Contoocook.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow like Contoocook gets?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to shed snow safely without ponding. Contoocook receives about 117 cm of snow annually, and metal's smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams that trap meltwater under asphalt shingles. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural upgrades are needed to handle snow load. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want to control where snow falls. The panels' rigidity keeps their shape through repeated freeze-thaw cycles—Contoocook averages 98 freeze-thaw days per year—unlike asphalt, which cracks and curls under that stress.

Will a metal roof last through Contoocook's freeze-thaw winters?

Aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw climates because the material has no grain structure to split when water freezes inside it. Asphalt and wood both fail this way; aluminum doesn't. Contoocook experiences roughly 98 freeze-thaw cycles per year, a major durability test. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy used in every Interlock panel is specifically chosen for cold-climate strength. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating applied to both sides adds another layer of protection against oxidation during temperature swings. This combination is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station—the material is indifferent to the temperature shock your region delivers.

Can aluminum roofing rust or corrode in New Hampshire winters?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust is iron oxide, which simply doesn't form. Instead, aluminum develops a self-healing oxide layer that seals out moisture automatically. This is why Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209), not steel. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel, giving a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading even in harsh conditions. Contoocook's ~1007 mm of rain per year and 117 cm of snow won't corrode aluminum the way salt air or acid rain corrodes steel. Once installed, your roof won't develop rust stains running down the fascia or perforate from corrosion.

How does metal roofing hold up to Contoocook's wind gusts?

Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design means each panel locks into its neighbors on all four sides—a gust that lifts one panel meets resistance from the four it's tied to. Contoocook's typical gusts reach 107 km/h, well below that threshold. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms the system meets IBC/IRC wind requirements. Because the panels are so light (Slate at just 0.41 lb/sq ft), wind has less mass to work against—it's the opposite of heavy asphalt or clay, which need extra fastening. Your roof stays anchored through the storms your region gets.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?

No—Interlock aluminum is so light that most existing roofs need no structural upgrades. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the look of traditional clay tile, weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than actual concrete or clay tile. This means you can install it directly over your existing asphalt or wood shingles without adding new framing, trusses, or support beams. That saves thousands in structural work. Slate comes in at 0.41 lb/sq ft. For context, Contoocook experiences wind gusts to 107 km/h and average annual snow of 117 cm—loads your current structure already handles. Metal roofing redistributes that same environmental stress over a surface that won't sag, rot, or fail under the weight.

What's the hail rating for metal roofing, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock metal roofing holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest classification available. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction means no dents that compromise the integrity of your roof. Many insurance carriers recognize Class 4 impact resistance and offer premium discounts or reduced deductibles on metal roofs. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating to explore savings. Contoocook's climate brings heavy rain (1007 mm annually) and occasional severe weather. A roof that withstands the impact loads insurers care about can offset the installation cost through lower premiums over time, especially if hail events occur.

How much maintenance does metal roofing actually need?

Metal roofing requires far less than asphalt, wood shake, or tile. You won't pressure-wash it, replace damaged shingles every few years, or treat it for algae and moss. Interlock aluminum is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Twice-yearly gutter cleaning and occasional inspection is typical—the same as asphalt, but you'll never replace the roof itself to do it. Asphalt curls and cracks, especially through Contoocook's 98 freeze-thaw cycles per year. Wood splits and rots under 117 cm of annual snow and 1007 mm of rain. Tile breaks and needs repointing. Aluminum stays intact. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty confirms the finish won't degrade—no touch-ups, no patching, no labor-intensive upkeep. This is the roofing equivalent of the last vehicle you buy—set it and walk away.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—essentially every failure mode that ends a roof's life. Because aluminum can't rust and doesn't rot, the coverage is really about structural integrity and finish durability. The warranty transfers once to the next owner with 50 years of protection from completion, which adds significant value if you sell. Most asphalt warranties are prorated (coverage decreases annually) and last 20-30 years; wood shake warranties cap out at 10 years. Interlock's non-prorated lifetime protection means your roof—and your buyer's confidence—is backed for generations. In a climate with 117 cm of snow and 98 freeze-thaw days per year, that durability promise translates to real peace of mind.

Does metal roofing save money on cooling costs in summer?

Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers reflective finishes with solar reflectance up to 0.55 (measured on Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity at 0.84. These properties mean the roof bounces summer heat back into the atmosphere instead of absorbing it like asphalt does. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms the thermal performance. Contoocook receives about 3018 sunshine hours per year—meaningful solar exposure. While New Hampshire's summer cooling demand is modest compared to southern states, every degree less your air conditioner runs is lower energy consumption. Metal's reflectivity also means a cooler attic, which extends HVAC equipment life and reduces peak demand charges. Choose a light color, and you'll see lower utility bills and reduced strain on your cooling system during hot spells.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Contoocook, and how long has the company been around?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. serves Contoocook and the region. The company has been installing metal roofs in New England since 1999—25 years of experience with the ice, snow, and freeze-thaw cycles that define northern climates. They know Merrimack County weather intimately: 117 cm of snow, 1007 mm of rain, gusts to 107 km/h, and 98 freeze-thaw days per year. Local installation means shorter lead times, faster service calls, and a contractor who understands your specific conditions. Interlock itself has been manufacturing metal panels since 1998 in Delta, BC—that's 26 years of proven durability. A regional installer backed by a 27-year-old manufacturer gives you both expertise and continuity. Current promotions include no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Contoocook’s climate?

Yes. Contoocook averages about 117 cm of snow, 1007 mm of rain, roughly 98 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 107 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
