Review: June 10, 2016Completion: March 1, 2016

I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.

I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.

We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.

I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.

My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.

To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Great Neck Plaza

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Great Neck Plaza, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Great Neck Plaza.

Will a metal roof hold up through Nassau County's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it has no iron and cannot rust, even when water pools and refreezes on its surface. Your area experiences roughly 66 freeze-thaw days annually, which would corrode steel or degrade asphalt over time. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is rated for exactly this climate stress. The Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214), and it's applied to both panel sides, so salt spray from winter de-icing roads won't compromise the material. You're looking at a roof that actually gets tougher as the years pass, not weaker.

How does Interlock handle snow and ice buildup with about 63 cm of snow per year here?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that ice and snow move as a unified mass rather than creating gaps where water leaks underneath during spring melt. The smooth aluminum surface also sheds snow faster than rougher materials—no algae or lichen growth that asphalt develops. Snow guards are available and recommended for pitched roofs in your area to control drift. With roughly 120 cm of annual precipitation (rain and snow combined), the panel design's sealed joints mean meltwater can't penetrate seams, and the profiles (Slate, Shake, Cedar Shingle, Tile, Standing Seam) all shed water predictably. Over 10 years, you avoid the repeated ice-dam damage that forces asphalt roof repairs every 3–4 winters.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed because Interlock panels are extraordinarily light. The Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb per square foot, and even the Mediterranean Tile—which replicates heavy clay—weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than the real thing. This is crucial because most Great Neck Plaza homes were framed for asphalt shingles, not slate or concrete tile. The lightweight design also means Interlock installs directly over your existing roof in many cases, eliminating tear-off labor and debris hauling. You get a premium look and 50-year durability (transferable on resale) without foundation or rafter upgrades—and you skip the weeks of disruption that traditional tile installation demands.

Nassau County gets strong coastal gusts—will this roof stay on in a storm?

Interlock's four-way interlocking design is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and your region experiences typical gusts around 135 km/h (84 mph) with occasional peaks higher. The panels mechanically interlock on all four sides—not just nailed or screwed—so wind pressure can't lift or separate them. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for your region's wind loads. Combined with proper underlayment and fastening per the ESR-1790 installation standard, you gain the same peace of mind as concrete tile but without adding weight that strains trusses. Many Great Neck Plaza properties in exposed locations have switched from asphalt, which peels and tears in coastal gusts, to this engineered aluminum system.

Can a hail impact rating help my insurance premium in Great Neck?

Yes—Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many homeowner insurers recognize this and offer premium reductions for Class 4-rated roofs because they file fewer damage claims. While Nassau County isn't in a major hail belt, the UL 2218 Class 4 rating also demonstrates superior durability against wind-driven debris and falling branches—genuine hazards in your coastal, tree-lined neighborhoods. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 spec sheet; some carriers apply instant discounts, others bundle it into a home-hardening credit. Either way, the impact resistance removes a source of worry if severe weather passes through—and over the roof's 50-year lifespan, that confidence is priceless.

Why choose aluminum over steel for a roof near the coast?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron, and its oxide layer actually self-heals when scratched. Steel metal roofing develops surface rust immediately and, if the coating is breached, rust spreads and compromises the panel. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), the same material used in Antarctic research stations and coastal salt-air homes worldwide. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel, providing redundant protection against Nassau County's humid maritime air and road salt from winter de-icing. Even if the coating chips or scratches, the bare aluminum underneath won't corrode—it will form a protective oxide layer. This is why the Guardian warranty covers rust for the original owner's lifetime.

Will a metal roof help cool my home during warm months?

energy-efficient colors reflect more solar heat than asphalt shingles, reducing cooling load on your air conditioning. Interlock's reflective finishes achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, ratings verified by the Cool Roof Rating Council. While Great Neck receives about 3115 sunshine hours per year, the cooling benefit compounds over time—studies show reflective metal roofs can lower attic temperatures by 20–40°F compared to dark asphalt. The long-term energy savings help offset the upfront cost, and because aluminum conducts heat efficiently, the reflective coating stays more effective than asphalt, which absorbs and retains heat, driving higher utility bills through humid summers. Over a 50-year roof life, the energy efficiency savings are substantial.

What warranty comes with Interlock, and does it transfer if I sell?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—problems that plague asphalt and wood roofs by year 15–20. It's transferable once: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion. This transfer is a genuine selling point—many Great Neck Plaza buyers recognize that a metal roof with 50 years left is a major advantage. Over a typical 25–30 year holding period, you avoid the expense and disruption of a roof replacement, and when you sell, the remaining warranty term is a tangible asset that reduces buyer's cost of ownership. No other material offers this combination of longevity and transferable protection.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or tile?

Interlock requires minimal maintenance—typically just annual gutter cleaning and occasional debris removal. Asphalt shingles need regular moss/algae treatment, re-nailing as they cup and curl, and eventual replacement by year 20–25. Slate or tile demand specialized labor, frequent sealing, and cracked-slate repair costs that escalate. Aluminum won't rot, split, or curl, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists fading and chalking for 30 years. Your area's 1251 mm annual rainfall and 66 freeze-thaw days accelerate asphalt degradation, but they barely affect aluminum. The roof is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning you free up time and money for other home investments. Many Great Neck homeowners report they simply forget they have a metal roof—it just works.

Is a metal roof actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes—Interlock aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable at end of life, breaking the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. When asphalt shingles reach 20–25 years, you pay to have them hauled away; they sit in landfills for decades. Metal panels, by contrast, have scrap value and are reprocessed into new aluminum products indefinitely. Interlock has been manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, and every ton of recycled aluminum requires 95% less energy than virgin smelting. Over the roof's 50-year lifecycle, that environmental footprint is orders of magnitude smaller than replacing asphalt twice. If you value sustainability—and many Great Neck homeowners do—choosing aluminum means you're not contributing to landfill burden and you're supporting a circular economy. It's responsible stewardship with zero performance compromise.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Great Neck Plaza’s climate?

Yes. Great Neck Plaza averages about 63 cm of snow, 1251 mm of rain, roughly 66 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 135 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
