Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Creston-Kenilworth, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
We’ve had our roof for about 7 years and have been very pleased with it. Recently, I scheduled gutter cleaning which was complicated by a run of wet weather which makes the roof very slippery. The gutter contractor asked if we had ever considered installing safety anchors. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I called Interlock and Ivan came by to take a look. He quickly determined appropriate locations for the anchors that the gutter cleaners could clip their safety harnesses to and showed me an example of the anchor itself. He also offered to paint them black to make them more inconspicuous on our dark roof. He returned about a week later for the install and afterwards showed us pictures of the anchors from the roof and pointed them out from the ground. Overall very professional, prompt, excellent service.
It was time to replace the old mossy asphalt shingles. Standing seam metal in dark Hunter Green was the way to go. Love it! Demo and install team were friendly really excellent at their jobs.
We love our roof! Interlock was wonderful to work with. Very knowledgable and helpful throughout the whole process. The team that installed were amazing and did amazing work. They cleaned up everything in a timely manner. One feedback I would have is giving more updates on when the project was slated to be started, originally was schedule during our vacation and we didn't know til a few days before we left. Overall we are very please and cant wait to never change our roof again!
Interlock was great. The roof is beautiful and the crew was great to work with. Everyone we met with was kind, skilled and knowledgeable. Mike and Damon even helped us work with insurance some due to a tree falling on our house. Interlock made the overwhelming task of getting a full new roof a little less overwhelming, and we appreciate them so much for that.
Interlock roofing is a fantastic company and the representative, Damon, was incredible. Always there to answer questions in a quick timely manner. I couldn’t be happier. This Aluminum roof will never need to be replaced and it makes my simple home look like a million dollar home. It’s stunning. I chose black slate and it is so beautiful. Such peace of mind too. I would highly recommend this company and its employees. The installation crew were professional and careful and accommodating. Thank You Damon and Interlock Roofing. Love our new roof! We don’t have to worry about replacing it ever again. Positive, Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Services: Roof installation
Beautiful roof, replaced 44-year-old concrete tile. Installers showed up when scheduled, were conscientious and knowledgeable. They were hardworking, even in difficult cold weather. Communication was challenging while waiting our turn, but this was addressed. Ten stars for all of you!PositiveResponsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, ValueServicesRoof installation
My journey with Interlock Roofing began with an email, phone call and some visits with Damon Isbell who is exceptional. He was able to accomadate all my requests for information, as well as make shanges to the project when I wanted to make changes after the initial process. The people I talked with on the phone or via email were pleasant & knowledgable, as was the installation crew led by Victor. I would recommend these people to anyone looking for a lifetime roof. I'd just like to say Thank You to everyone at Interlock Roofing. Everyone I interacted with was pleasant and knowledgeable.
The communication with the salesperson after the sale has been made could have been better, as well as with the installation team prior to the installation. It would have been nice to communicate with the installation manager about the installation before it happened. It would have been nice to have the person in charge check in at some point, and that never happened.
Having more than 1 installer throughout the entire project. Art was great and very safe but if there was an accident or fall and he needed immediate treatment it could have been too late before any one found him. I would feel better and more confident about our Interlock roof if we were given some after installation care FAQ's and a reliable/priority email and/or number to call with any issues. As it is now, I'm not sure who to contact for these things and it makes me worry about having invested in an Interlock roof.
I am very happy with the roof they installed. They should provide more accurate scheduling because my project was delayed for about nine months. We like the product, and everything was great. However, improving the scheduling and making sure the times are more accurate would be better.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Creston-Kenilworth
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Creston-Kenilworth, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Creston-Kenilworth.
How does metal roofing handle snow load in Creston-Kenilworth winters?
Interlock metal panels shed snow efficiently because the interlocking design and smooth surface prevent ice dams from trapping meltwater. Creston-Kenilworth receives about 48 cm of snow annually with roughly 36 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that create dangerous ice buildup on traditional shingles. The aluminum's thermal properties mean it warms slightly on sunny days, helping snow release naturally. Optional snow guards are available if you want to control release pace. The lightweight construction (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, even in heavy snow years.
Does a metal roof leak in heavy rain? What about Creston-Kenilworth's rainfall?
No. Four-way interlocking panels create a closed system that sheds water faster than it falls. Creston-Kenilworth averages 1468 mm of rain annually—well above the US median—so durability under sustained wet conditions is critical. The panels interlock on all four sides, meaning water cannot channel sideways into seams or gaps. Installation over solid decking with underlayment (typically asphalt-quiet) provides a secondary barrier. Proper slope and fastening per ESR-1790 specifications ensure water flows down and off, not into the structure. Wind-driven rain at gusts up to 116 km/h is also shed without penetration when installed to code.
Can a metal roof survive Creston-Kenilworth wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Creston-Kenilworth's typical wind gusts reach 116 km/h—well within that margin. The interlocking design means panels cannot lift or separate; wind pressure actually locks them tighter. ESR-1790 evaluation covers installation under IBC/IRC wind load standards. The lightweight aluminum (Standing Seam under 0.5 lb/sq ft) reduces uplift forces compared to heavy slate or concrete tile, which require structural reinforcement in high-wind areas. Even during severe gusts, the panel system acts as one unified surface rather than individual shingles that can fail independently.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock metal panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most existing roof framing can support aluminum roofing without modification. This is a major advantage in Creston-Kenilworth, where slate or traditional tile would require expensive structural upgrades to handle weight plus snow accumulation from 48 cm annual snowfall. Because aluminum is so light, installation costs stay lower and the system can go directly over your existing roof. The Guardian warranty and ESR-1790 compliance apply whether you install over old shingles or wood shakes—no decking replacement necessary.
What hail protection does a metal roof offer?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This means the system is tested and proven against the most severe hail events. Many homeowners in hail-prone regions see insurance premium reductions because metal roofing demonstrates measurable impact resistance. Creston-Kenilworth's climate data does not indicate frequent hail, but the Class 4 rating provides peace-of-mind protection against severe spring or summer storms. The coating is engineered to resist impact without cracking or losing its reflective properties, so the roof's energy efficiency (energy-efficient with 0.84 emissivity) is preserved even after hail exposure.
Does metal roofing help with cooling costs in summer?
Yes. energy-efficient Interlock colors with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84 reflect heat that asphalt shingles absorb. Creston-Kenilworth enjoys about 2957 sunshine hours per year, so reflective properties meaningfully reduce cooling demand during warm months. Metal roofing reflects solar radiation rather than converting it to heat that enters the attic. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification verifies this performance independently. Over the roof's lifetime, energy savings accumulate significantly in a city that combines wet winters (freeze-thaw cycling) with summer sun exposure. Lighter colors perform best, while darker finishes like Aged Copper Penny still meet energy-efficiency standards while maintaining design flexibility.
Is metal roofing worth the cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing is a one-time investment. An asphalt roof typically lasts 15–25 years in Creston-Kenilworth's wet climate with 1468 mm annual rainfall and 36 freeze-thaw days—requiring replacement twice or three times in a homeowner's tenure. Interlock carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, plus a one-time transfer to the next owner for 50 years from completion. Over 50 years, the total cost of ownership (including tear-off, landfill, and installation labor for multiple asphalt replacements) typically exceeds a single metal roof installation. Current financing is available: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. The math becomes clearer when you factor labor, disposal, and the certainty that metal will outlast any homeowner in the house.
What warranty covers an Interlock metal roof?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner, good for 50 years from completion. Non-prorated means claims are honored at full value throughout the original owner's tenure, not reduced by age or wear percentage. The coating itself carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards. This two-tier coverage (material plus finish) means both the aluminum substrate and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon top coat are protected. Creston-Kenilworth's 36 annual freeze-thaw days and heavy rainfall make warranty peace-of-mind especially valuable—traditional materials often require costly repairs within 20 years.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need?
Minimal. Interlock metal roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance compared to asphalt, wood shake, or tile alternatives. Creston-Kenilworth's 1468 mm annual rainfall and 2957 sunshine hours mean gutters should be cleaned 2–3 times per year to prevent debris buildup—standard for any roof. Metal panels themselves require no sealing, staining, or replacement of individual shakes as wood requires, and no cracked-tile repairs as tile demands. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists dirt and algae growth, so pressure washing is rarely needed. Snow and ice shed naturally due to the smooth, interlocking surface. A visual inspection every few years confirms fasteners are tight, but the non-ferrous aluminum will not degrade or require protective treatments. Total hands-on maintenance is dramatically lower than traditional materials, reducing long-term labor costs significantly.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Creston-Kenilworth?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. is the authorized installer serving this region since 1997. The local installer can assess your existing roof, recommend the right profile (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, or Standing Seam), and ensure installation over your existing structure if appropriate. Is a metal roof a good choice for Creston-Kenilworth’s climate?
Yes. Creston-Kenilworth averages about 48 cm of snow, 1468 mm of rain, roughly 36 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 116 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
