Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Woodstock, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
I love my Interlock roof! No more climbing up to clean it, and no more gritty debris falling into my garden after a few years. It looks fantastic and performs exactly as it should. The installers were excellent—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and personable. Ivan is a gem! He handled a small flashing addition efficiently and cleaned the entire roof with a blower in no time. After almost ten years, it’s still the only roof I would choose.
We’ve had our roof for about 7 years and have been very pleased with it. Recently, I scheduled gutter cleaning which was complicated by a run of wet weather which makes the roof very slippery. The gutter contractor asked if we had ever considered installing safety anchors. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I called Interlock and Ivan came by to take a look. He quickly determined appropriate locations for the anchors that the gutter cleaners could clip their safety harnesses to and showed me an example of the anchor itself. He also offered to paint them black to make them more inconspicuous on our dark roof. He returned about a week later for the install and afterwards showed us pictures of the anchors from the roof and pointed them out from the ground. Overall very professional, prompt, excellent service.
Ivan and I have had many visits over the last 10 years we have had our Interlock roof. He is a rare find. Both knowledgeable and conscientious. My interactions with Ivan and call taker May have been top notch as is Interlock's warranty.
Ivan with Interlock Metal Roofing is awesome. Always personable and willing to find and fix the problems. Roofs are going to have leaks and with Interlock I just call when I have an issue and Ivan fixes it. THANK YOU!
Ivan has worked on our roof multiple times. He is always responsive, communicative, efficient, and effective. We can recommend him and Interlock Roofing
Fast response and excellent work. The technician drop by within couple of days, found the cause, and provided quote. The price was reasonable for the work scope. They were able to secure the work slot as soon as the raining season was over and kept me informed on the schedule. In addition, they inspected remaining roof as well. Note: the leak was due to gutter pulling the corner flashing. The 10+ year Interlock roof tile remained good.
It was time to replace the old mossy asphalt shingles. Standing seam metal in dark Hunter Green was the way to go. Love it! Demo and install team were friendly really excellent at their jobs.
I’ve had an interlock metal roof on my home for 20 years. We have always been happy with the roof. People are always surprised to find out the roof is metal.
Prompt, ongoing communication from bid to follow up after completion. Install crew was professional and polite. We had an involved tear-off and they spread tarps overnight in case of dew. Finished job looks great.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Woodstock
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Woodstock, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Woodstock.
Does metal roofing handle Woodstock's snow and ice buildup?
Yes. Woodstock averages about 48 cm of snow annually over roughly 36 freeze-thaw days, conditions that metal roofing is engineered to withstand. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a continuous, rigid surface that sheds snow and resists ice dam formation better than asphalt shingles, which trap moisture in freeze-thaw cycles. Snow guards are available if you want controlled runoff. The aluminum will not degrade or develop leaks from repeated thawing and refreezing—asphalt becomes brittle and develops cracks under the same stress.
Will a metal roof leak in Woodstock's heavy rainfall?
No. Woodstock receives about 1468 mm of annual rainfall, and the four-way interlocking panel design sheds water continuously. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, eliminating the seams and gaps where water typically penetrates asphalt or wood roofs. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment ensures water is channeled away instantly. The ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for high-rainfall regions, and the Guardian Warranty covers leak performance for the life of the original owner.
Can metal roofing withstand Woodstock's wind gusts?
Yes. Woodstock experiences typical gusts up to 116 km/h, well within the warranty threshold. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, thanks to the four-way mechanical interlock that locks each panel to its neighbors. The system distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This design is why the same product has been installed successfully from coastal salt-air homes to extreme-weather research stations.
Does metal roofing perform well in hail, and can it reduce insurance costs?
Metal roofing earns the highest hail rating available: UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance. Interlock's aluminum panels are warranted to resist perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many homeowners report lower or stable insurance premiums after switching to metal, since insurers recognize the superior impact durability compared to asphalt or wood. With roughly 2957 sunshine hours per year in Woodstock, hail risk is relatively low, but the Class 4 rating gives you peace of mind and potential premium savings if you shop insurers.
Why won't a metal roof rust, and does it matter in Oregon?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, a naturally occurring oxide layer forms on the aluminum surface and heals itself when scratched—a property that makes aluminum ideal for Oregon's 1468 mm annual rainfall. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides for additional protection. Steel roofing requires paint or coatings to prevent corrosion; aluminum's oxide layer provides inherent durability across decades of wet seasons.
Does metal roofing need structural reinforcement, or can it go over my existing roof?
No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—while the Cedar Shingle weighs only 0.41 lb/sq ft. This lightweight design means your home's framing can support the metal roof without costly structural upgrades, and installation can often go directly over an existing asphalt roof, eliminating tear-off costs and labor. The system is ICC-ES evaluated (ESR-1790) and complies with IBC/IRC building codes nationwide.
What warranty comes with metal roofing, and how long will it really last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also transferable: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion. This means your roof is protected for your entire ownership, and the warranty helps with resale. The Alunar fluorocarbon finish is separately warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards. Metal roofing typically outlasts asphalt by 40-60 years.
Can metal roofing look like slate, cedar shake, or tile instead of the industrial look?
Yes. Interlock offers five distinct profiles: Slate (flat elegance), Cedar Shingle (shingled texture), Shake (rustic appeal), Mediterranean Tile (curved tile pattern), and Standing Seam (modern lines). Each profile is manufactured with the same four-way interlocking aluminum core, same durability, and same lightweight design. You choose the appearance that matches your home's architecture, then enjoy the performance benefits—no tear-off needed, installation within days, and the same lifetime warranty regardless of profile. The aluminum core ensures none of these styles will split, rot, or fade like wood or clay alternatives.
Who installs metal roofing in Woodstock, Oregon, and how long have they been in business?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves the Woodstock area and greater Multnomah County region with over 25 years of local experience, having been in business since 1997. The installer understands Woodstock's climate—roughly 1468 mm annual rainfall, 48 cm snow, and 36 freeze-thaw days—and has completed thousands of installations across the Pacific Northwest. They offer the current regional promotion of no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off metal roof installation. Contact them directly for a consultation and inspection.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles over the roof's lifetime?
Yes, when evaluated over the roof's lifespan. Asphalt shingles typically last 15-20 years and require tear-off disposal in landfills; metal roofing carries a lifetime warranty and is approximately 95% recyclable at end-of-life, eliminating the tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Over 50 years, you'll replace asphalt 2-3 times (labor, disposal, and new material costs), while one metal roof installation remains in place, warranty-backed. Additional savings come from reduced maintenance (no granule loss, no moss treatment), lower energy bills from reflective coatings, and potential insurance discounts for Class 4 hail rating. Current financing removes upfront barriers: 0% interest until Spring 2027.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Woodstock’s climate?
Yes. Woodstock averages about 48 cm of snow, 1468 mm of rain, roughly 36 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 116 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
